  • do you ever show any of your birds?

  • @gokory I have in the past, but no more... I support 4-H and help others show their birds now... mine remain here. When I did show, I was awarded Champion Bantam and Champion Standard with grand Champion going to my Silver Sebright hen.. I figured I'd quit while I was ahead :}

  • @HTCSWEOD cool, my mom used to show standard White and Black Cochins

  • @gokory Cochins are among my favorites... large standard Cochins are always impressive!

  • @HTCSWEOD yeah I like clean legged chickens but cochins are pretty impressive, as well as other feather footed varieties

  • your birds are pretty

  • Thank you so much for that compliment!

  • So I take it it's perfectly fine to run bantams with regular/medium sized chickens? I would kind of like to do medium sized hens for steady egg production and then some fancy little bantams for fun and looks... The Mille Fluer is beautiful!

  • Yes, I have always run large standards along with my bantam chickens. The key is to raise them together, or in this case there are separate buildings they go into at night. It is nice to have a few fancies around for color and character and then the layers as large standards. Good plan!

  • Awesome! Thanks for the info... that's good news :)

  • I have a few bantams, and can easily tell that these chooks are happy. Cant help but feel sorry for battery hens, oh well, at least our chooks can acknowledge that they had a good life!

  • Hi, thanks for noticing... yes, my birds all enjoy complete freedom throughout their days.

    Have fun with your chooks!

  • Your FOWL are the finest! Awesome video teaser.

  • Thank YOU, you certainly do know your poultry!

  • Pastured hens are the happiest.

  • So true, if one wants to see the true range of behaviors and have birds of optimum health, chemical free range is paramount. By chemical free, I mean, no industrial fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or man-made treatments of the plants they will be foraging on. Concentrated runs, eventually challenge the health of the birds treading on the barren soil.

  • I enjoy raising true free range chickens... no fences, no restrictions at all. Learn to raise chickens in the best and most natural way possible. The DVD Regarding Chickens, covers every aspect of incubation, brooding, starting and free ranging any type of chicken. No better bug control, no better fertilizer for your organic gardens! FUN (">
