Boy, I was pissed when Jeff spun out. Jeff was about to win, and just lost it. Nobody even did anything wrong, it's just that stupid turn 1 to Watkins Glen. That turn is more predictable than the weather outside. Just about anything can happen. At the time, I was disappointed that Tony won, but nowadays, the only thing that would disappoint me was the part where Jeff spun.

Tony looked like he was faster than Jeff all day....but when it came down to crunch time, I was amazed at how much Jeff got out of his car. He outran Tony after that last restart, and with just under 2 to go, I thought Jeff had it in the bag.....just pushed it a little too far. Pretty shocking and uncharacteristic of Jeff.

P.S. Watkins Glen is a 3.45-mile road course. The circuit is characterized by long straights, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sweeping turns. And it has turns to the right and the left. So much for your knowledge of NASCAR.

Tony was in the lead early on at the Glen and spun in the first corner. It took him 40 minutes to get back up to the front, which is damn good as the COT is a wicked when in traffic. He was pressuring Gordon so much, it ended up rattling Jeff and he spun out in the first corner just like Tony had done earlier. The race was one of the best I've ever seen.

As for Tony's stint with IRL, he was the Rookie of the Year in '96 and was the Champion in '97. He went to NASCAR in part because of the crap going on with CART/IRL and the fact that he was kicking butt in the Busch series, which is why Joe Gibbs promoted him to the Cup.

It is because of the COT with its crappy handling and the "interesting" shenanigans of Hendricks Motor Sports. They dominated early on and have been fined several times because they were caught breaking the rules. Now that everyone is on the same page (at least until Knaus and Letarte come back) the races will be more fun and ratings should rise.
