I have also made a video for National Service Dogs you should check it out. The song used was one written for my son Cole who received a dog Bingo in 2005. Bingo is a hearing dog not NSD's typical dog!

question: how do the dogs help kids with autism? Is it a sensory thing? I have two grandchildren who have autism, my grandson is much more difficult, deeper into the spectrum

There are programs now that match a service dog to a kid with autism. They've found that dogs can read queues of their person and react accordingly with feedback, whether it be deep pressure or redirection. They can also train the dog in search/rescue if the child has issues running away. There's also social situations that the dog can ease the child into.
