That's totally what I thought about norbert on the cover! I considered the hungarian horntail, but like you, didnt seem to fit, so I thought NORBERT! He must have remembered harry you know, I thought there was too much emphasis on it to be just in the first book.last night i went past past the equus theatre will DANIEL WAS IN IT!!!!I was like- AAAAHH!!!! I think it's either an Antipodean Opaleye or an Animagus. Because Jo said that it's impossible to domesticate a dragon. Another piece of evidence for the Opaleye, though, is that it's one of the least aggressive dragons.

Yeah, I said that (the least aggressive bit). That would be one hell of a animagus. I doubt think you can grow that big when you transform. Plus, I don't think she'd use that again (she already make like five people Animagis') It doesn't seem likely that she'd use that again.

No, they wouldn't have a dream on the cover. I don't think the dragon has to be domesticated to give them a ride. Buckbeak isn't what you call domestic, nor are thestrals. But they both give rides to Harry.

A dream on the cover really isn't too plausible, but you definitely have a point in the domestication bit. There's plenty of evidence in the books of creatures that are domesticated (or at least, don't offer rides to people) that have at least Harry riding on. So, in that sense, Jo would still be correct with the non-domestication bit, and you'd still have probable reasoning for them riding a dragon.

Oh my gosh! If you look in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, there is a dragon called Antipodean Opaleye that has no pupils (just like this one). They're not suppose to be as aggresive as other dragons, hence the reason it's letting them ride it. But, wow, do you think that is it?! It's on page 11 is you have the book. <3 !!!! :D

ohh i dont think its a horntail.. cause if you look on goblet of fire.. the horntail has horns on its tail.. this pic doesnt have any horns onit.. so liek you said im guessing its norbet all grown up (cats grow up from kittens to cats really quckly, so theres no reason to suggest that dragons dont do the same.. i mean this is jk's book so she can do what ever she wants :P

I thought it might be Norbert as well but I also had the thought that the dragon on the cover looked a little old. And no matter which dragon it is, how did Harry get one and how did he or someone else tame it? Jo has said specifically that you can't tame a dragon, no matter what Hagrid thinks. I just don't know. Gahhh! ;-)

i met richard griffiths too (kind of)!!! the first time i saw him was in new york last summer when i saw his play "the history boys." i saw him walk out of the stage door just as my friend and i were passing it and i yelled "good job!!" haha. i'm pretty sure he heard me...

and yeah, i also saw him and daniel radcliffe in equus. but i didn't get a chance to briefly talk to either of them after the play :(
