absolute perfection here...young guitarists take notes!...experienced guitarists throw ur guitars in the garbage and start a religion based on Vinnie's technique and improvisation skills!
I've listened to the Vinnie Moore's Mind's Eye for the first time in 1999 and is almost impossible to me not to remember that time. 10 years has flew by and this song with this entire album are still at my MP3 player's play list
@manuelink64 Well said. The coolest twist on this track is tha Tony McAlpine is actually playing the keys on this track, as well as the rest of the minds eye album
I love this song. This song is from the "golden era" of Neoclassic Shred. Vinnie, Yngwie and MacAlpine were all writing classy instrumental music. Nowadays none of the shredders can write.
@VoodooChildsReturn where as i agree that this is from the golden age and generally it didn't get better paul gilbert is still writing amazing stuff, and i think he gets better every year.
Apart from that i agree that probably has one of the best tones in the guitar world and is one of the best neoclassical guitarists but certainly not the best
This is my alltime favorite Vinnie Moore tune. I used to play it on my radio show back when I was in college, a million years ago! (and this album was new)
@termiblaster, after listening to this song as well as some others from this album, it's easy to figure out where Capcom got their ideas from when it came to composing Mega Man X music.
Google: NeoClassical Metal Forums for a great chat site on this genre. The site is dedicated to all the Neoclassical players ie Yngwie, MacAlpine, Becker, Tafolla, Vinnie Moore, Joe Stump, Friedman, Ziras, Gilbert, Impelleteri etc.
You can also share your opinions on gear, music theory/technique, rock music and life in general.
@54donny above macalpine but give credit where credit is due Malmsteen was light years ahead of vinnie and vai is from another planet.. If you dismiss those guys then you don't know what your talking about because they were both big B4 vinnie. Greg Howe is also very awesome too.
Love this man...best neoclassical guitarist in my opinion. He's a master of ascending and descending through scales with flowing triplets and unique riffs that give his solos anticipation and momentum to the rest of the song, as exemplified perfectly by the solo in this song - flawless. Rock on Vinnie.
I disagree on the fact that you consider him the best neoclassical guitarist..Probably you ignore Malmsteen was the founder of the neoclassical guitar school, he incorporate the harmonic scale masterfully as well as the arpeggios that are know today, phrygian scales
I disagree on the fact that you consider him the best neoclassical guitarist..Probably you ignore Malmsteen was the founder of the neoclassical guitar school, he incorporate the harmonic scale masterfully as well as the arpeggios that are know today, phrygian scales prior to anybody else
@malmsteen108 well you can invent as much as you want on the guitar but until you incorporate that into a song that can reach out to people like vinnie and macalpine you havent done much. also i dont understand how you can disagree that someone has an opinion ""I disagree on the fact that you consider him the best neoclassical guitarist"" so your saying that you can read his mind and that you dont think he considers him (vinnie moore) the best neoclassical guitarist? lol
@livewire7128 Tottally agree. Yngwie may have invented the style, but Vinnie Moore has a quality that no one else has, it's like a movie soundtrack, like John Williams. There isn't a single note wasted in his songs. Actually I think it's the only shredder that writes songs that you can sing along.
i think one of the best things in the 80's is the over use of reverb

A shredder that can make EVERY single note he picks heard. It's not just a cacophony of sounds.

A remarquable performer. Amazing talent. He knows how to make something fast sound great but when he's playing slow, he's even better.

you're confusing the original genius of vinnie with the malmsteen/vai wannabe macalpine ! vinnie moore is light years above all of them
