  • Oh sorry Steve, what were you saying? I was distracted by the cat. :P

  • Wow that's really opened my eyes. I've been good with the eating and ok with the exercise, but I haven't really lost any weight this week. I'm gonna start doing more exercise

  • @EmzilyD Thanks! I also host a BlogTalkRadio com show. You can listen there or on iTunes. Search Steve Turano. Recent shows can be heard on my site home page at the bottom once they upload. I also host a Sat. morning radio show from 9-10 am EST on 1340 am Tan Talk radio. Call in & ask me your weight loss & fitness questions. 1-866-826-1340 tantalk1340 com. I also upload it to iTunes. You can also listen at GreatFatLossPill com. Click on the On The Air tab at the top.

  • this whole calories in calories out thing is true... but weight/fat loss i see is more complex than that.... one has to take in things such as insulin sensitivity, nutrient partioning, metabolism, etc...

  • I've wanted to lose weight for so long, and I never though I'd find the answer.

I found the website called fatburner. cz. cc and i've lost 40lbs! It really works. :)

  • I thought I was tripping out when I saw that tail move, lol

very true, Turano. Proactive is the way to be.

  • NICE job! Keep up the great work! ~Steve

  • following steves advice i have literally lost 20 lbs in like a month by doing cardio, weight lifting and eating proper. i also know to be wise when it comes to supplements. oh and when i mean eating properly i meant eating pretty much anything i wanted but being a lil careful about it. THANX STEVE

  • if i walk 120 min, will I burn 600 cal ... how long do I need to run to burn the same amount ?

do I build some kind of muscle in my legs by walking this much ? even if I feel no paint the next day.

  • Nice cat.

  • Kitttyy!!!

  • sup cat

  • Dietary fat doesn't cause fat accumulation. Neither does protein. Carbohydrates drive insulin drives fat accumulation.

As fat cells use glucose, they produce alpha glycerol phosphate. This molecule is what binds 3 fatty acids to form one triglyceride. Fat can only be stored as triglycerides. As fat cells produce more glycerol, they bind more fatty acids, they store more fat, we grow fat. This happens independently of the total amount of food we eat i.e. we grow fat even in a caloric deficit.

  • whaaaaAaat?

  • I know, it's crazy isn't it? Shit happens when you read books, I tell you.

  • You mean excess carbohydrate.. like excess of any kind of food will be stored as fat.. don't try to mislead people.. please..

  • OK. You say excess of any kind of food. Then you should know the mechanism of fat accumulation, right? OK. Can you describe the mechanism that allows dietary fat to cause excess fat accumulation? You know, the chemical interactions between cells, enzymes, proteins, hormones, shit like that. Provide real world examples as well so we know you're not trying to mislead people too.

  • What are even talking about? Dietary fat to cause excess fat accumulation? I think you should mean that excess dietary fat cause fat accumulation. Please remember we are talking about excess food, not just food.

  • Obviously, we disagree.

So what's the mechanism? You know, chemical interactions between cells, enzymes, proteins, hormones, shit like that.

You know what they say, put up or shut up. What's it gonna be?

  • FAT = FATTY ACIDS + GLYCEROL!

en wikipedia org / wiki / Fat

en wikipedia org / wiki / Glycerol

en wikipedia org / wiki / Metabolism

Read those and don't waste my time. No matter what you eat if it's excess your body will turn it into fat. Deal with it.

  • Yeah, sure. Have you heard of The Magic Bus Trip? It's a forum. Check it out. (in the sub forum Metabolic Ward MAM experiment) There's a few guys there eating something like 2000 to 3000 calories above their maintenance and they don't gain. One of them even loses fat! Now that's like breaking the laws of physics, wouldn't you say?

Or try reading a whole book on the science of carbohydrate, insulin and fat accumulation. It's called Good Calories Bad Calories. I read it and it's real good.

  • You know, that's a good start.

So the glycerol comes from triglycerides. OK, but we can't use THIS glycerol to accumulate fat. What's the hormone that stimulates the formation of (fatty acids + glycerol) triglycerides? OK, what's the food that stimulates the secretion of this hormone? OK, what does this food give us to help us with the formation of (fatty acids + ???) triglycerides?

You know what I'm saying? The MECHANISM of fat accumulation. That's what I want you to explain to us.

  • Have you read the articles?

  • Yes I did. Have you? Especially the part that says "[insulin causes] the cells to take up glucose and convert it into storage molecules such as fatty acids and glycogen"

I didn't find where dietary fat does the same thing but maybe they missed it.

Hey, your profile says you like to read books. Did you check the book I told you about? What about the forums I told you about? There's some cool shit going on there. Well, I think so.

  • So, just cos you don't want to read I need to waste my time laying it on the table for you? Yeah.. right.. let's switch.. shall we?

What happens when some1 eats +500 excess ccal. from fat or protein?

  • Is that a trick question? They can go longer before the next meal.

I eat only fat meat and water. And I eat a lot of it. Yet I lost 55lbs doing just that. I didn't cut my portions or whatever. I just ate until I was full. I've been doing that for almost a year now.

I'm telling you, there's some cool shit happening all over. You just gotta check it out for yourself.

Oh, and I still haven't found where dietary fat causes fat accumulation. Help me out, will you?

  • You haven't answer my question.. so.. again.. what happens to the excess fat/protein?

So you lost 55Ibs.. great.. but news flash.. you didn't lose fat cos you don't eat carbs.. you lose fat cos you eat less calories.. that is.. no magic in the "no carbs" thing..

And If we go with personal shit.. well.. I was on that "carbs are bad" nonsense a long time.. after that.. duh.. watch how much you eat, sport/train and no problem.. I bet you are dieing for 1 or 2 beers right now..

  • Oh and dietary fat if it's in excess is stored as fat on your body. Got it?

  • Yeah, I got it. I just can't seem to find the explanation anywhere. Even from the links you gave me, from the books I read, from the forums I read, I can't find where it says HOW dietary fat causes fat accumulation. I asked you to tell me but you didn't tell me.

Look, maybe it's not as simple as "calorie in, calories out". Even from the links you gave me, there's a shitload of chemistry going on with molecules, hormones, shit like that.

  • Yada, yada.. yeah it's not as simple as "ccal in, ccal out" but still this doesn't mean that excess ccal from protein or fat just "go away".. protein for instance if it's in excess is broken down and converted into sugars of fats and it's used as energy or stored as fat.. fat from foods is the closest to our own bf so it is stored if it's excess very quick and easy.. if you want the biochemistry behind it.. well.. there is nuff to read for weeks.. and it wont make sense if youre not biochemist..

  • That's a good start. Now we just gotta find where it says "how dietary fat causes fat accumulation".

Protein converts to glucose 55% only. This means we have to eat more than twice. And even then, it can't cause fat accumulation because it can't cause a rise in blood glucose. Remember insulin.

Fat can't cause fat accumulation because it can't cause either a rise in blood glucose, or a rise in insulin.

But I ain't telling you anything you don't already know. I mean, you know your shit, right?

  • All you are telling me is that you can't understand a simple concept.. and again we are talking about EXCESS fat/carbs/protein.. EXCESS of any food ( alcohol too ) will be stored as body fat.. unless you can explain to me what happens to the excess energy your body don't use.. news flash.. it stored it as fat (energy) for later.. and again if you what the biochemistry behind it open wiki and start reading..

  • I understand the simple concept of "excess fat causes fat accumulation". I mean, it's real simple. Eat too much, grow fat. I just can't find the reference to the mechanism in any links you gave me. Maybe you gave me the wrong links. I don't know.

What about the links I gave you? Have you checked them out? Yeah, the forum and book. You know, the guy who ate like a ton of fat but he lost fat. Another ate a ton of fat too and didn't gain an ounce.

  • Ton of fat? Yeah.. sure.. I can lift 300000kg. bench press in the gym all the time.. no problem.. if you are really believing those kind of nonsense I really don't know why I wasted my time..

  • It's a figure of speech. The point is that he ate like 80% fat for a month, about 48,000 calories ABOVE maintenance, and didn't gain an ounce.

The other guy is almost done with his experiment. So far, he's LOST 4.3kg when he should have GAINED 5.4kg. That's a big difference between what he should have gained and what he actually lost. I mean, if it's all about excess and dietary fat, this guy is breaking all the rules. It means the rules are wrong.

  • Good fairy tails. Anyway..

Wish you all the best and carbs free life.

I'm gonna grab a beer.. bye!

  • By the way, you know the book I told you about, Good Calories Bad Calories? Well, there's this forum where this guy, Charles, he breaks it down into more simple summarized "chapters" each week. He's on chapter 5 this week. We can discuss each chapter as he posts them.

Well, I read that book but it's real difficult to stick to it even after the first few pages so what this guy is doing is pretty neat. The forum is called Zeroing In On Health. The sub forum is "On Books".

    Enjoy your beer.

  • I don't think I'll find this book on our market but I'll do a search for it. I may check the forums as well, but I don't think I'm gonna learn more than "carbs are bad bla bla bla"..

    Bye.

  • love your videos.

maybe you should put that cat on a diet.

my cat is fat too. ;[

  • You have a kitty! <3

  • enjoy your videos mate, straight to the point good sence

  • Great advice! If you'd like to lose 35lbs would you recommend setting small goals, say at 10 lbs reward yourself. Or wait until you lose it all to get a reward?

  • im becoming a quick fan of your videos cause you tell it so easy and too the point. keep it up man!

  • Thanks! Please tell your friends.

  • what the hell is that behind u ??? ps thx for the info

  • great stuff

  • I agree with what you said about being pro-active, but it is not true that 'all food's no matter how healthy will make you fat is you eat enough of them' I have lost over 140lb in weight by eating a lot of healthy food, I did not use portion control but i cut out fat and sugar and i didn't mix carbs and protein in the same day. I have maintained my weightloss for over 1.5 years in the same way too!

  • Hate to disagree but calories are calories. If enough good calories are eaten and accumulate, they will make you fat. It's great that you've lost weight but it's simply because you created a calorie deficit.

  • I understand what you're saying and when i've thought about it, i agree that i did cut the ammount of calories, removing the highest percentage from fat, sugar and fried food, i eat a lot of fruit which i assume is calorie free and I haven't set foot in a McDonalds for over 3 years now. I do still eat very well and I eat quite a lot of pasta and rice, which i thought were high in calories. Is this true steve?

  • Healthy or not. Calories or not. Weight loss is still the result of creating a calorie deficit. Pasta and rice are only high in calories if you eat too much of them!

  • ..Oh and Steve, thanks for the information, it's been very interesting and helpful for me. x

  • is that your cat in the background?

  • Yep.

  • I just like that the kitty is beside you. :)

  • NICE TIPS

  • Will at this to my blog bigfatblackman.com

  • Thank you very much!

    Steve

  • Thanks for the great info Steve!
