I love horse racing, but there are bad apples on every tree. Sometimes accidents happen. People outside the sport remember the bad 10x more than the good. No one ever reports in the paper "10,000 horses ran in races this weekend without injury" "horses at race track vetted and fed regularly this week" Nope, all you hear about is "Bad Trainer X beat his horse in the stall cause it lost a race" or "horse jumps fence and injures 7 people" I still love horses and racing. It was a FREAK accident. No need to ban. Australia and New Zealand are very good at keeping their horse racing safe. But nobody can predict something like this. The horse couldn't see where it was jumping, it was simply doing what came instinctively to it.

Oh look, someone crashed a racecar into a crowd, let's ban car racing. Oh look, someone killed someone with an ice-pick, let's ban mountain climbing. Oh look, a cat scratched someone, let's ban having cats as pets. Get over yourselves.

Der brush fences is what they use in steeple chase races, naturally the horse would of thought to jump over it.

The horse is called Banna Strand.. NOT banana strand.. to all those that watch this video... Banna Strand escaped without injury. And the mother of the child shown said I quote " it was a freak accident".

This does seem to happen a lot, in horse racing in general, it can get pretty dangerous but I like how the 'activists' wait for people to get hurt and then go and protest animal abuse in the racing.

Why is the stand so low, so close from the race track? Its not the horse fault. No rider to steer the horse into the correct course. the horse have no forethought there is a crowd of people just over that side of the fence.

I'm having a real hard time feeling bad. It's not as in-your-face cruel as bull-fighting...but it's close enough.

The problem is people just don't take the time to look into these things - they don't sit back and wonder what happens behind the scenes, etc. Just like with the circus. They are blissfully unaware.
