That's hilarious ! I was born in Durham NC, but grew up in England. My father is American and Mum is English. I love the point you make there. Most people in the USA , I hate to say have no sense of history. As I tell them there were pubs in the village I grew up in (Westbourne) that were older then the declaration of independence. A LOT of places here are named from English cities. New York, New England, New Hampshire are some obvious ones.
