  • The way I see aikido is like a japanese swordsmen making a cut. He draws his sword, makes the cut and puts his sword back. Aikido is very much the same way. Aikidoka are swordsmen without the sword.

  • "Hey, keep throwing the same obvious attack at me and when I touch you do some flips and shit. It will look awesome!"

  • that guy just kept coming baaack

  • self defense...you slam them on the ground and than you run.

  • @Kenshincz

Exactly. Aikido is about principles and not techniques and if it was all full out force than there wouldnt be anyone left to practice with. When will people stop misunderstanding such things.

  • You cannot snap soft.

  • Aikido actually makes people worse fighters than if they had never learnt Aikido.

You have a better chance throwing your hardest haymaker.Aikido is total bullshit, if it were any good, you would see it show up in the UFC.Notice how Aikido practitioners never fight anybody?only staged exhibitions where no real punches or kicks are thrown, just some pussy TMA kid rolling around the dojo

Realistic forms of fighting: Greco Roman Wrestling,Brazilian Jiu Jitsu,Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, Sambo, mma etc

  • Some people do not understand a thing about Aikido. And don't understand that students learn to fall right. So they don't get hurt. In the real world a lot of people don't know how to fall right, so if they got attack from someone doing Aikido it would hurt like hell. Aikido can break bones. People who practice this art takes many years to learn.

  • @LittleImpaler well said:)

99% of people being repeatedly body slammed on a hard floor or pavement like that, and having your wrists and arms broken and your head cracked open at the same time is going to lose his will to fight pretty quickly:p lol

  • hahaha

  • Isoyama shihan is one of the best aikido masters. That is what aikido should be like...powerful and effective.

  • very true. Isoyama is definitely the definition of Aikido.

Without ki there is no Aikido...

  • aikido is awesome, but it doesnt help you against a gun like in the real world

  • @DragonSteel100 what helps against a gun then? nothing...

aikido is as effective as other martial arts, you just have to practise longer... its not the way of aggression, its the way of harmony... =)

  • Powerful!

  • guys just don't argue w/ a man that blinded by least experience and some sad bitter story's of life they just want attention.

  • lol what the fuck is he doing, he pwns chuck norris

  • You just didnt said that, take it back so he wont kill you while you sleep. :'D

  • Hiroshi Isoyama will protect me, i know :*

  • gosh the man moves like water!! i hope i can get that good one day...

  • wow!

  • you fail to realize this is just demo to show some principes of aikido, not real fight.

  • You fail to realize that akido would never be used in a real fight. Have you ever even seen a fight? What fight looks like a ball dance. This might be useful against a drunk old man at a bar, or your 8 year old child who gives you his arm with zero resistance.

  • I wanna see you beat these guys' asses

  • Try to attack a black belt...or even a green belt, and ask someone to record it so we can watch. I really would like to see you try :)

  • It makes me sad that there are people that think just because you have a achieved a certain belt in a certain martial art, it makes you invincible.

  • I never said it makes you invincible. But a high belt do mean that a the person is more experienced in that mart.

Don't go around putting words in people's mouths.

  • But it's important to recognise that most if not all martial arts are just that. Arts. There are very few that are applicable in real world situations. Aikido is certainly not one of them.

  • You say it's sad if people think higher belts makes you invincible. I say it's sad if people think the way you think about Aikido.

I'm not going to argue or try convince you that Aikido is good or not in real world situations, it's a waste of time, like arguing about religion.

If you think it's not, that's your problem, I'm not gonna waste my time arguing it.

  • ...How is it a problem, exactly?

it's sad if I think about aikido that way? I don't understand. The difference is that my point of view wouldn't get me in to trouble, whereas yours might.

Do you take everything this seriously? Did you really just compare aikido to religion?

I'm a commenter on youtube. You'll never meet me. I posted my opinion, but in the end, does that really affect you that much? Chill out son.

  • You didn't understand a damn thing I said.

I did not compare Aikido to Religion. I said arguing if a martial art is good or not in real world is the same if you argue about religion. It ends in nowhere: I keep my point of view, and you keep yours.

I did not take anything seriously, as I said, I'm not going to argue with you, because it's not gonna make any difference. I was just commenting my point of view, just as you.

  • if you're not going to argue with me why are you still posting?

And It's not that I didn't understand, it's that i chose the less tupid of the two meanings. Aikido's application in the real world is common sense. The fact is that to execute most techniques in aikido, you would need superhuman grip strength.

These kinds of demonstrations are fine, and the practitioners are very skilled at what they do, but unfortunately, in the real world, people do not jump and flip when you twist their arm.

  • you're unbelievable dude...

I'm not arguing with you! I'm just explaining what I said, because you didn't understand. That's why I'm still posting.

I think Aikido is efficient in the real world. You think Aikido isn't efficient in the real world. And I don't want to discuss that, and I don't see any problem with you thinking that wat, it's just none of my business. That's what I meant.

As I said, this kind of arguing leads us to nowhere.

    The end.

  • Haha, this is brilliant. The only reason I'm responding is because you're one of these "last word" people.

"This kind of arguing leads us nowhere"? I thought you weren't arguing with me :D

What makes you believe aikido is "efficient in the real world" as you put it? The entire premise of these demonstrations is that an attacker will shift their weight in a ways that make them flip or fall over. Most of this could simply be remedied by at least making an effort to pull your arm away.

  • Dude, again...you're unbelievable. I said I'm not going to argue with you about the efficience of Aikido.

This is just getting annoying, I'm not going to reply you anymore. you're just trying to get atention.

    Keep talking to yourself

  • If you can't refute the point I'm making, don't try to make it look like you've won by acting like you're above the debate.

Who gets this worked up over youtube comments anyway?

  • Acting like I won? LoL you are the one acting like it's some kind of contest. The point is: I dont care about what you think about aikido and you dont care about what I think. The end.

By the way, happy new year. Best wishes.

  • @perry953

you are just clueless of what aikido is about.

  • iamismehellyeah I agree with you 110%. Aikido can be use in real life danger situations. It is a MARTIAL ART. It was design for combat. That's why it isn't used in MMA. All those turns and flips and locks have purpose. Any real Martial artiest will tell you, the best way not to get hurt from attacker, is to use their own body weight and shift by turning.

  • @perry953

oh and the guy that gets thrown around like he was a pirouette that's not just for show you know, it's so he doesn't get hurt.

  • @perry953

sure it is you just don't get it. because you've never practiced it. if you throw a guy once like that on a hard surface, you'll break lots of his bones ;)

  • That's not my point, I'm sure it would hurt a lot were someone actually to throw you like that, it's just that most people would not throw a punch then just stand there looking surprised while you threw him, there'd be MUCH more resistance. Aikido just doesn't apply in real world situations in the same way it does in demonstrations like this.

  • @perry953

it's not that he would stand around, but the more energy the guy that would want to hurt you puts out, the more he'll get hurt, you can't stop energy you put out, and in aikido, you use that energy against the attacker with little effort

read: requires A LOT of practice, so in conclusion: i agree if you're a beginner, it is as useless in a real life situation as not knowing martial arts at all, but when you begin to understand it, you reap the rewards =)

  • @iamismehellyeah stop arguing! we know that aikido CAN be used in "real world situations" but thats not what its meant to be... =) aikido is not only a martial art, it is more like a way of living, the heart of aikido is non-aggressive mentality! =)

  • @PoetaOdoris

I know, and i agree with you, i'm just trying to prove a point.

  • Zynthesis, you should just kill yourself. While your sitting around on your fat ass taking a break from beating off to midget porn, people like the guy in the video are perfecting nuances thats idiots like you will never understand or see. Kill yourself immediately and spare the world the outrage of your existence.

  • @zynthesis You obviously dont understand the art of this martial form. not every martial art is kicking, punching or hurting your opponent for the sake of vicotory. It is a true art form with deep meaning and appriciation for all human beings regardless of enemy or foe. The point of Aikido is to keep both the attacker and defender safe at all times. The point is to no hurt anyone.

-If you think this is not real, then what is your definition of a REAL martial form?

  • @systemsevil Oh I understand martial "Arts" Sure it's pretty, and filled with fantasy. What we must all remember is the true fighting styles of martial arts is lost. Now what we got is the idea and form, which is well... a business. It's the idea and form that the sucker buys into. But the substance is all but gone. The longer a dojo can keep you in, the more money they make. Steven Segal has a reality show. He's never once did a fancy move on a bad guy. It's a parlor trick

  • @systemsevil As far fighting style? Pure Physical contact would be the winner. The key would be practice, and constant training. Constant punches and kicks to your body and to another being. Constant close to death actualizations. You need to know and get used to being choked out. You need to be able to feel comfortable with watery eyes, or dizzyness, or lack of air. Cardio, weight lifting and proper diet.

  • That looked like a demo with a bit of backache afterwards for his partner. full bore very good . Is he still teaching?

  • seagal

  • what do you think segal or this guy

  • this guy

  • who's the uke?

  • the slap is all the money in 0:23

  • i dont think this to be quite hard. see. if you throw a person this will ALLWAYS hurt. if you are thrown on your back it hurts. you can't get around this. if you expect the fall to be soft its like expecting a stone you throw to the ground will eventually fly 1 km into the air because of the rebound. the ukemi is not an instrument to fall softly and good looking but to not injure yourself seriously. but on tatami you get accustomned to fall and it wont hurt falling several times consecutively

  • Apparently you haven't seen any of O'Sensei older videos. He definitely dispensed some hard throws to his Ukes.

By the way Isoyama Shihan was one of his Ukes.

  • the guy can stand up and walk away... soft enough for me. Aikido is still for self defence and if you get into a combat situation, throwing him away like you do with Uke in you friendly neighbourhood dojo won't do the trick..

I'd rather spend a few hours meditating over the question if I was a bit too hard on the guy instead of lying in the hospital or in a box..

Keep aikido real.. and don't let it turn into a choreographed balet..

  • Since he doesnt want to kill the uke he must act like that. But that doesnt mean he cant end this technic by killing the uke. Nishio sensei was always saying if you can throw opponent in a instant, you can kill oponent in a instant.

  • dude these people know how to fall right...

huge chances are that most of your freindly gangers wont know.... and then their is the concrete and cement thing to

  • @cinique1 One thing that most people don't realize is that it takes years of training to learn the proper Ukeme (protective falling) for a given technique. If you don't know how to flow then you can (and usually will) get hurt. Most people don't know the Ukeme and will get seriously hurt. Many of these techniques can be slightly modified to be very devastating to the point where there is no Ukeme, that is where control comes into play.

  • @cinique1 have u ever thought that even if its just a throw. a throw on hard surface by somebody who isnt trained to take a fall could get really hurt. and maybe some dislocated joints, the angles and grips are different for practice.

  • I think he's being too hard. In none of Ueshiba's videos he is being that hard. Even in daito ryu the techniques aren't that violent.

  • Magnificent.

  • that´s what i call cleaning the floor with the uke lol. Nasty yet beautiful =P!

  • Wow, this is real Budo! excellent.

  • Nice to see AIKIDO at last!

  • ummm... can a regular person learn this... because i want to learn it so bad for about years..

  • sure, practise every day for about 40 years and you will do it;)

  • and sorry to say, 39 years wont be enough. Once you hit number 40 u will reach aikido buddhahood. I had thefortune of learning yoshinkai SO I CAN ATTEST TO THIS.

  • why does everything in aikido have to take 40 years. in getting sick of such comments

  • Um...Sarcasm?????

  • so they get you stay

  • really it takes that long... wow

  • Actually, I dare say these techniques are quite basic. Once you understood how it works it's really easy. After your first year (or earlier) you could already be able to do that. (given that you had a competent master and except for that lifting-on-shoulder-and-throwing-to-the-ground-technique [which's name I've forgotten] as that requires that your opponent attacks you for real so you can use his momentum)

I'd encourage you to try it.

  • the throw is called kata guruma

  • best aiki demo I have seen.

All the wanabees should take a look at this video, this is what aikido is

  • finally some good aikido, no soft ki aikido crap. The old style aikido is way better than the new soft spiritual stuff.

  • YEAH THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

Alot of people keep saying its a wimpy defense style but this guy is tough

  • i could defeat this socalled master with eaze.

just fake a yokomenuchi with the right and then quickly jab with the left.

poot chap wont know what hit him muhahaha..

  • You better hope that little jab kills him, cause he's gonna demolish you!

  • ...and then you'd wake up with your nuts glued to your forehead, dopey.

  • finally...someone who can use aikido effectively in real situations....this guy is the real deal...most others are just wannabes.

  • lol there is nothing real about this.

  • this is a real nice video. I must say that he is real rough compared to other masters. I like it !

  • yah its like the old aikido. before the other master reformed it to a soft style.

  • @MrPinoy91 You are wrong. When O-sensei made the art it first started has a very hard style. As O-Sensei got older and become enlighten he change the art from medium to soft.

  • Wow! He knows something! :) Mortal Kombat!!! :))
