  • "I Love You" a song title that's been reused a couple times; this one's from 1923, tune by Harry Archer, lyrics by Harlan Thompson. The Cole Porter song was written in 1943. There's still another tune, same title, recorded by Tommy Tucker band, composer unknown.

  • Does anybody know who wrote this version of "I Love You"? Because it is not the standard Cole Porter "I Love You"

I love both tunes, but I find that other jazzers seldom know this version of the tune. Any help appreciated!

  • @Saxman11290 music is by Harry Archer and the lyric (Sinatra) by Harlan Thompson.

  • Who are playing in the rythm section? Sounds really great!

  • There's Jack Lesberg on the bass and Max Roach on the drums.

  • @Scriptavolant

    and who's the pianist?

  • @paleandpoisonous Hank Jones is on the piano.

  • @ajhoover83 There is no comparison, Kenny G does not play jazz!!

  • Stop comparing kenny g to Hawkins. Besides the obvious time period differences, Hawkins was the originator and innovator of his time. His recording of 'Body and Soul' helping to move jazz towards be-bop was one of his many accomplishments. Ajhoover83 I hope to christ you are being sarcastic or referencing Kenny Garrett, because kenny g is terrible; he's not even considered good in the smooth jazz world.

  • @peanutbutter16 your wrong about everything

  • @peanutbutter16 your wrong about everything they are actually very similar if you think about it hawk was the first pop sax player

  • @robotandroid You mean Bop, not Pop (there is a slight difference!)

  • If it were NOT for Coleman Hawkins, and others like him. THere would be NO Kenny-G

  • whether good or bad these two names used in the same sentence is blasphemy
