He has some pretty distinctive guardia in the manual which I'm not recognising here. It takes time and some rigorous practice to integrate the basically 'unnatural' positions into your standard fencing form. Have you looked at Guy Windsor's book? It has a lot of drills for building skills in this system.

Rotate your left shoulder back so it is in the same line as your front foot. That will help solve the balance problem.
