Hard to believe this happened in broad daylight... ur not just a public service officer when ur on duty, but off duty as well! Glad this guy cared enough to report him...
Its fucked up that you snitched him out but he was way too fucking drunk to drive. And the cop that arrested him looks like the typical pissed off short guy.
@DirtySanchez90 Yeah, remind me what part of getting a drunk driver off of the roads is fucked up again? Oh, no part? Yeah, I'm on the same page. Don't be delusional.
Whenever i call the police they don't do anything. Specially like this. The way I figure it, if you're in trouble, grab your gun and protect yourself or others. The 30 min it takes a cop to respond is 29 minutes you don't have.
Sorry about your Dad, Dude. Please be more careful while you are behind the wheel distracted. I just hope that this wasn't swept under the rug or minified by the arresting officer. Drunk Driving Is Drunk Driving, no matter who it is that could kill or hurt an innocent victim.
@snowboardloser The thing is, I wasn't looking into my camera. I was watching the road. That is why the camera is very shaky. When people text, they are looking down at there phone. I now have a dashcam so I don't have to hold it anymore lol
I thank you so much for sharing this to the public. My retired boyfriend who was a fugitive detective police officer died on January 2010 while drinking and driving. He was driving coming home from work from Manhattan to Long Island and crashed at 1:10AM only 3 exits away from home. He must have been driving for about 45 minutes before he hit the median. His Jeep rolled over 3 times and because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, he was ejected out of the vehicle and the
I'm a retire police officer. My opinion is get a cab to take you home or a friend. Is very embarrasing to be expose like that so all the cop haters can laugh about it. Is a shame that cops have to deal with all that stress.
As a Columbus Cop, I'll say we put our pants on one leg at a time like everyone else. If we get nailed for DUI, we should go through the same process as anyone else. I've known a few cops that got nailed with it. It's not as uncommon as one might think. And they pay the price like everyone else. But I'd say a bit more so as the embarrassment is a lot more likely than with an office worker who doesn't have to worry about the news showing it on TV.
"But there is NO WAY this retired police officer is going to get into any trouble."
You' *might* have been right if it was not caught on video. Even then, it would depend on the department/officer. But being on tape, they knew they had to go through with processing him. And once it hits the news, done deal. And you are likely somewhat right about what the cop was thinking... He might normally 'code 2' the officer, and give him a ride somewhere to sleep it off. But he knew it was on video.
you may be right but the cop told me that he was worried about the guy being a retired cop. The cop asked me for a copy of the tape and said that he would know how to get out of a DUI so the tape would be proof.
You don't need to do a breathalyzer or field sobriety test. If he smells of alcohol, stumbles, etc. that's enough. Field sobriety tests and breathalizers are to seal the deal. And there are no breathalizers on board many police cars. We have 2 hours to get the person to the BAC machine usually kept at headquarters. The BAC reading is what seals the deal. By the way, ever wonder why a misdemeanor DUI offense takes 3 hours of paper work but a crack arrest takes about 30 minutes? No rm left to expl
i was looking for a comment like this. funny thing is, ur probably right. especially if this guy is a retired officer. where were the road side tests???
gut feeling tells me this guy got off with a slap on the wrist if that.
Great job John. Don't pay attention to those asses saying you were more dangerous than the drunk driver. They must have been caught with a DUI before.
"...a red 'car'?" wow. how can you possibly not know that it's a cadillac?
And you know, I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that driving while filming and narrating a video is possibly a mite dangerous itself. In fact, it's far more dangerous than what passes for "drunk" driving nowadays (.08% BAC). Obviously this old man driving the cadillac was legitimately drunk, and it's good that he was busted, though.
I know it is dangerous but I think driving drunk is far more worse. This film is what is going to be used to prosecute him. If I wouldn't have filmed it, He would have gotten away with a DUI. I hate people who drink and drive and I will report and record it when I see it.
it's only one of the most recognizable rear ends in automotive history. it's like if i was reporting Jay Leno robbing a bank, and said, "a humanoid just robbed a bank."
Drunk driving is a social issue NOT a personal issue. Until everyone figures that out, we will continue to make drunk drivers, and all other types of so called morons.
And it's WE who could've killed another person, like we kill millions every year.
Obviously, you know nothing about hyper-dimensional space-time.
Your limited perception might see an individual acting independently, but in greater reality, it is WE who guided that driver, as WE guide all individuals, from birth to death.
Why are you online and interacting within YouTube's domain? Did you create the internet and YouTube? Or that computer? Of course not. WE created all of that, and WE are guiding your behavior, right now.
