  • I was just wondering, if I were to not cut off the excess rows/columns or paper, what would happen? Would the edge of the model just not be clean, or will the actual construction be more difficult?

  • i did a 13 stage clover folding awesome!!!!!!

  • @kamil41514 Congrats! It must have taken quite a while to complete!

  • gkgn

  • how do you fold the 64x64 grid?????????

  • @akadanny Fold a square in half, halve each half, halve each quarter, etc.

  • Amazing !

  • im high intermidate

  • That's alot of squares.....

  • how do u fold the paper to get 28x28 square cause i got 32x32 square by folding one more layer with the same method u taught

  • @lamyeenam You can either fold a 32 by 32 grid and cut 4 columns/rows off, or you can fold 7ths and then quarter each of the 7ths. That also gives you a 28 by 28 grid.

  • These videos are amazing - you are a very skilled teacher. Your clarity and care describing your folding is impressive, doubly so when English isn't your first language! Thank you for making these videos, my wife loves them. I'm watching to get some ideas for a nice origami tessellation projects book for Christmas. Do you have any recommendations please?

  • @samkeen If she doesn't have Origami Tessellations by Eric Gjerde yet, go for that. If she also enjoys sowing, try Shadowfolds by Chris Palmer. Both books are listed on happyfolding(dot)com/books

  • I wonder how u fold the creases straight with a unbig square paper like u have in this video

  • hello ms. adams, may i ask whether you will make a tutorial on the hedgehog from eric joisel, i can never figure out the levels. thanks for reading!

  • hi there, what paper did you use to make the big orange and green tessellation at the beginning of the video? It looks like plastic and very durable. Where can I buy it? Thanks

  • @cocohhm Those models are folded from pergamyn / glassine. You can find such paper in crafts stores, e.g. for making kites or lanterns.

  • Hi there, may I know what paper did you use for your big orange and green tessellation at the very start of the video? They look very much like plastic and durable. Where can I buy it? Thanks!

  • hi sara,

wie kann ich ein 28 x 28 grid falten ??

    ich verzweifle daran

    kannst du mir bitte helfen

    danke

  • @dgaga100 Einfacher: 32-Grid falten und oben und rechts 4 Spalten abschneiden. Schwieriger: Siebtel falten, jedes Siebtel vierteln. Siehe happyfolding(dot)com/term-equal_distances für eine Anleitung für Siebtel.

  • Sara thank you so much I'm sorry for not posting any comments on your videos but now I have a YouTube account so thanks and awesome videos

  • beautiful!

  • For a variation, I fold it as a pyramid of squares (skipping the leaves) and call it 'Before Origami Class'.

  • looks cool

  • You are so great! :D Thank you for the video!

  • I tried to make the 11 stage clover folding model and the copy paper that I used, tore and was too small. Do you know of a place online that I could order some cheap origami paper that would work well with the larger stages of the clover folding model? The largest size of copy paper that I have is 8.5 X 11 inches. Therefore to make a square, the paper would only be 8.5 inches square, and that is too small for me because I have fairly big hands. Thanks for any help!!

  • @caseyedds11 Have you tried wrapping paper? Also, check my video on how to make tissue paper. That would provide you with good and large paper. Finally, origami-shop(dot)com does have larger squares, e.g. 35cm (approx 13 3/4 in) squares. But it's more expensive than the first two options I named.

  • Wow, it's really impressive

    Thanks a lot !

  • i figured multi stage folding without this video, but i learned this varient here, one way or another this video is still very helpful (:

  • hello Adams Sara! I love your origami videos. As a matter of fact my grandpa makes origami! He learned some models from his dad(my great grandpa) and he made some models on his own. he taught me some of his models and they were great, but your videos are still better.

  • I love this video thank you! I used a giant piece of paper so I had to cut off the edges of the paper to finish it. It turned out better then I thought it would. Your origami is the best!

  • am making my 8-stage one, and have been struggle for 3 hours to get to the 3rd stage... but hey i really enjoy this! I believe this piece of work would end up looking really nice :) :) :)

    thanks for your video!

  • Great Video :D thanx for the upload! does Shuzo Fujimoto have any origami books by him? :)

  • @amandaplease8 Yes, I have two of them. Check happyfolding(dot)com/books for more info. :)

  • I have a random question about origami shop.com. On the top of the page it shows three models: the cartoon frog, the owl and theres this really cool red and grey dragon. I was just wondering if you know who created that model an if they have a book out that has instructions for it?

  • @somprsn2525 The frog is by Nicholas Terry and is diagrammed in the book "Passion Origami". If I'm not mistaken, the owl is by Roman Diaz and is diagrammed in "Origami Essence". I'm not sure about the dragon.

  • @somprsn2525 The frog is in "Passion Origami" by Nicolas Terry, the owl is in "Origami Essence" by Roman Diaz, the dragon I don't know from the top of my head.

  • @anh21070

    @AdamsSara

    I also want to :D

  • ok now PLEASE go to watch?v=FZ1ECtcnKFY stop at 1:05 of that video and tell me:

PLEASE I WANT TO KNOW HOW DO YOU MAKE THAT MULTI-HYDRANGEA PLEASE

IF ITS POSSIBLE MAKE A TUTORIAL

  • @alberlos Did you post the wrong id? I cannot view that video. But perhaps you mean the densely tiled hydrangea. Check happyfolding(dot)com/gallery-fujimoto-hydrangea_tiling for details

  • Comment removed

  • @AdamsSara yes that's de hydrangea i want please if it's possible make a tutorial

  • @alberlos Did you check the PDF instructions I linked to on my website? I'll think about a video, but it wouldn't be happening anytime soon in any case.

  • @AdamsSara yes but i'm not sure how i have to divide the paper horizontaly

  • @alberlos Lol, there is already an hydrangea tutorial XD

  • i really want a 4 or more stage one

  • what's the easiest way to fold sevenths? , how do you @AdamsSara

    personally fold seventh?

  • @PrinceofPersia6423 Actually, for display models I usually simply measure 4/7, then quarter that, and then proceed folding the remaining 7th. You might call it cheating, but for display models I prefer not having any reference lines.

  • I'm not sure why but when I made this I did the eleven layered one, but one thing that I noticed was that while yours appeared to come upwards as a pyramid, mine was concave and sunk downwards in the middle.

  • @SlipknotVSBieber Hm, that sounds strange. Did you use the same folding sequence?

  • By the way, I'd definitely like that model <3 Just as a nice reference, haha. Very nice folding.

  • thank i ask so much sorry i ask so much

  • Hi sara, thankyou for this video, ive been an origami fan for years and finally decided to try some harder stuff and after a bit of research discovered this tessellation to be the new big thing for experts!

However i had no idea how to get started as it seemed so complicated but after some research i found your videos, they have really helped but i would also love this model as it would help me understand it even more!

  • @Mrblobbybobby Glad to hear my videos help!

  • @AdamsSara I also like how you ask permission to use models and give proper credit, many origami designers dont get the credit they deserve. (and its really hard too)

  • The precreasing is sooo hard

  • I got the five and six layers done.

The five layer was my first one ever done. It was easy :P

I had to cut the tant to make it 34x34 though >:

I know a way to divide by seven (that's why I could do the five one first) but for 17 and 34... ugh.

I'm going to do 40x40 for a seven layer one next though :D

Third try. I love this model. In thin paper, it looks great on windows with sun!

  • @HomoCyborgZombie Nice! Seems you've fallen in love with this model - just like I did. :)

  • when you are pre-creasing are all of the folds valley folds ?

  • @MrEllinas21 Thank You

  • @PrinceofPersia6423 Actually, the direction doesn't matter much. I recommend making the creases bidirectional (so fold both as valley and mountain), but obviously that's a bit more work.

  • @AdamsSara Thank You very much.

  • @PrinceofPersia6423 The direction of the creases doesn't really matter.

  • would u salute my efforts if i tried makin a 20-stage version?

  • @mechaprime00 Definitely. :)

  • @mechaprime00 isn't that just a bit of overkill?

  • @musicmixer112 lol prrly yeah i mean 20 x 6 -2 = 118 tryin to figure that out on paper will be hard when making the grid

  • @mechaprime00 Not too hard - fold a 128 grid, then cut off 10 grid squares on each side. It's actually not that much more work, and you can skip folding the border that you'll be cutting off in any case.

  • @AdamsSara Thank you Sara with your guidance for origami :)

  • MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! thank you :)

  • hey Sara i would really lik to have this model only because id never be able to do tht lol

  • This has (somehow) motivated me to make a 32-stage clover using a 2' x 2' piece of wrapping paper... that's a 190x190 grid.

  • @CompulsiveOrigami Huh, I'd like to see that finished fold!

  • @AdamsSara Unfortunately, I've discovered that the squares of the grid would be much too small... Must wait for a four-foot square for that one. 16-stage clover it is then.

  • How do you fold sevenths?

  • @rahrahrummummah Check the last page of fishgoth(dot)com/origami/diagrams/division.pdf or use Robert Lang's ReferenceFinder. :)

  • I want this model because it is very 3D

  • Nicely done. Hmmm I guess tessellations are possible to teach by video. This particular one brings back childhood memories... I came up with the same tessellation about 20 years ago... but I went one extra step... I rounded all the squares with mountain folds... and called it Pyramid of Gold Coins.

  • @jeremyshaferorigami I'll have to give that a try. :)

  • Thank-you very much for this vid :)

  • Sara,

I would like to have this model! It's so neat!

  • As always I love your videos and I would like the model cause having a piece of origami from you would be an honor.

  • ooooh how i love you :)

  • I would really like to have that model because it just looks awesome.

  • @anh21070 You are the lucky winner. :) Please send me your postal address (your full name, your full address including country) and I'll send you the model!

  • @AdamsSara wow that is very nice of you. You would really send it to somebody??

  • Hi Sara,

I don't mean to criticize but at 1:57 - 2:32 on the table of stages you didn't put

down a 2 stage clover fold.

I am just wondering, did you mean to do that? Thanks =)

    Joe.

  • @joeorigami1999 i make one with a 10x10 grid it took me 5 minutes

  • @joeorigami1999 Hm, I started with 3 stages, because I used that in my previous video. But yes, you can make a 2-stage clover folding, too. :)

  • I already made this with just watching the picture. No help for me :(

  • I make a 2 stage 3 stage 4 stage 5 stage!now I have a whole family hihi

  • Wow! So beautiful! Thanks so much for this video!

  • please can you make a viseo on the robert lang koi?? pease :D

  • thx i wanted this video for 4 months thx

  • I folded a 7 stages of this and it took me 2 hours >u<

  • Great tutorial! Thank you Sarah!!! greetings from Italy

  • Hi Sara,

Even though I can already make an 11 stage clover fold,( 5 hours work!) this is still an absolutely brilliant tutorial.

I wish I could have learnt how to make it this way!( I stumbled upon this a year or two ago). Still another top notch tutorial. =-D

p.s. I loved the video on Google Munich!

    Joe.

  • Another fantastic vid Sara :). Just a small thing - I think variation is a better word to use in this case than variant.

  • Attempting this model for the first time, even after having done the 3-stage one, feels like it's gonna be a real mind-twister.

Thanks for the video ! =)

  • Astonishing. :)

  • I figured this out before you made this video but it was a while ago. Thanks for reminding me how I did it!

  • cool

  • amazing!

  • thank you

  • Wauw... Thank you!!!

  • I'm the one who asked for this video on your website. THANK YOU!

  • @MrSomeone121 Hehe, actually, this is one of the most asked questions I get. :)

  • @MrSomeone121 me too!!!
