There is a small echo on Justins mic. But its not autotune. I wouldn't get too mad at these people who think its autotune. 99% of them don't know what autotune is and couldn't point it out if it ran into them. Justin hits does little falsettos ALLL the time. and that weird echo you hear when they all sing together? Its called harmony. But you wouldn't know anything about that would you? Lol.

Yeah...no. There was no autotune there. His voice wavered. Having seen them many times live, they need no vocal correction. And while there are devices available to "autotune" live, the actual Autotune effect plug-in is a piece of software for use in the studio after a track is recorded, and would not be practical for live applications.

The man can simply sing.

@medicboy214 I know how it works - I have a degree in audio engineering. I doubt that they actually use pitch correction on their proper shows on tour, but this it is painfully obvious that they are doing it here. Autotune is an RTAS plug-in and can be set to automatically tune an input signal - whether it is live or already recorded. On studio recordings the vocals are usually manually tuned, whilst live it is auto so you do get those obvious quick note latchings, like here.

@NZRand0m you would be correct sir. and although this is technically "live", it was recorded so it could be mixed. chances are they tuned the vocals in mixing. i've tuned enough vocal tracks to be able to pick it out haha, those harmonies lock in too damn well. love this band, but the fact is every major release more likely than not has tuned vocals. its only when its audible to the average ear that people whip out the claws and start judging haha

This has definitely got some pitch correction on it though, which is fine, it compliments his voice if anything, as it does when used on Artists that have great natural voices anyway. I like when its used tastefully.

Ok, once and for all, his voice is not auto tuned. No matter what you might think, it is very possible for the human voice to do that. It just takes practice and Justin has been in the music business for a while. His voice has gotten so much better since the beginning of their career. But it really doesn't matter. The song is amazing, and the "lalala"'s are hilarious, and just symbolize what MCS (Not MCT @angmarcos1) is. They can be dark, but they're light-hearted by nature. Anyway, MCS forever!

It's autotuned for sure though. But don't be down, I saw them in July and they don't sound much different, just less robotic. If you carefully listen to the chorus harmony, it just matches all too well for a live performance.

@KingOfOldTrafford one of the ways you can tell is the glide between notes. a human being has to stop singing and start again to change pitch perfectly, otherwise there is usually a subtle but noticeable glide as the voice moves between the notes, but when auto tuned, the glide is overdefined and sometimes completely deadened. so the voice "steps" up and down instead of sliding. listen to someone with heavy pitch correction (ala t-pain or jason derulo) you will hear what im talking about

Interesting story.....some friends and I saw them about two weeks ago and after the show one of my friends was talking to their bass player and he asked about that part with the kazoo sound.....and it ends up they got that sound by shouting into a broken acoustic electric guitar....so yeah....explains the lalalalala's.
