I suggest watching All in the Family, Seinfield, Arrested Development, The Office (both versions), Extras, MASH, Flight of the Conchords, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Malcolm in the Middle, Cheers, Fraiser, etc. Sure they all require a bit more thought than the easy laugh -- but you'd be surprised at the quality that does exist in the half hour format.

@BannanaNutz And someone hasn't see how many more millions of people used to watch The Beverly Hillbillies or Hee Haw. Even Jersey Shore draws "millions" and tops cable ratings. Viewers and "ratings" don't equal greatness. I'm sure you are a Friends viewer who thought one of the guys or girls were "so cute" and you can't imagine them not being rated. It was a funny show, but top rate.
This countdown hits a few greats, but any sitcom countdown missing Arrested Development has zero credibility.
