@daasianboi wrong. The Spartan agoge(training) didn't start until they were seven years old, the Vikings didn't start as early, but they wouldn't have been farmers and villagers. Like, the Spartans, they were trained soldiers. If you ask me, the Viking has a pretty good chance of winning.

Spartans did. as I remember before, samurais also beat the vikings in turn the spartans beat the samurai, so not only did the vikings lose to the samurai they would dearly lose to the spartans. Honestly I don't think anyone can use it as the basis for an argument, or as a credible historical source. I say this because they have already made a lot of historical mistakes on the show.

@Macgilvernock well its good you disagree, I'm looking it at an unbiased view, because I am spartan all the way, but this depict the fighting really real, samurais were trained since when they were very young, their katana is the best blade we know of today that can cut an enemy in half with one swing, also equip with a very deadly, and accurate bow chain mails are useless against their weapons, better yet their discipline.

@daasianboi You underestimate the vikings and their armor. The vikings had riveted mail which can withstand a thrust, a slash, and even broad head arrows( which the samurai used). That, and how is it you are not biased if you are "Spartan all the way?"

@daasianboi Yes, there were vikings that didn't have armor, but a lot of them did. In terms of riveted mail, it takes a needle bodkin arrow to go threw it, or a very thin and narrow blade. That, and with everything you've said I find it very hard to believe you studied vikings in college, so I'm going to end this debate because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about so, goodbye.

Spartans were very very well armored, however it was bronze. But a Spartan was trained from birth to be a soldier in an organized army using the phalanx and the such. Vikings were also very deadly but a more brutal horde like military meant for raiding and pillaging. In a one on one scenario it matters a lot on the person behind the armor and weapons. A Spartan generally had much more training and combat experience then a viking so my money would go on the Spartan in a pitched fight.

1 more point to note. Samurai maybe fast in moving and dodging attacks but a sheild is better. Spartans sheild cant be pulled away by weapons cause its not hold its strapped on the arms. Vikings are totally useless if their sheilds are gone but their willingness to die like the Samurais make them fearful. Countless charging with swords 2x your sword length and axe as tall as u coming your way.... Whose not scared? I bet the Samurai would run too!

Spartans would just push the vikings back to Norway and chop them with their Kopis but the Vikings would also push the Greeks back due to their sheer amount of forces, battle experience and blood rage on the Beserkers but remember.... head gone = unfit to fight so no point fighting.... The Spartans fought as one, so I think they would of won in a full scale battle. One on one, I think the Viking would of had the edge over the Spartan. Vikings were farmers who went out to raid for supplies, the berserkers were the real elite warriors of the Viking age.

The vikings were completely crazy. That's the point. That gave them an edge. When the Marines were in the Philippines during the Philippine-American War, they wore leather collars for a reason. The native Ngoro fighters were like berserkers, in that you could empty a pistol into a native's chest and they'd keep coming and lop your head off. Also, you've got to think of the fear factor. A viking warrior were probably stronger than a Spartan warrior and they also had more mass which is and advantage. Vikings had steel, Spartans had only bronze. The viking warriors were excellent warriors even the Byzantine Empire used them as royal bodyguards.

However their conservatism in training and lack of adaption was their downfall and why athens defeated them so much. We have almost no recorded facts about viking military training, but I doubt they were that much stronger. But considering there reputation and the concrete fact of them going almost undefeated in battle for 3 centuries does provide..

It was a war-raiding based culture that was collectively and individually very ingenuitive. It is my opinion that they recieved very poor representation in the show, and even given the very close margin in which they lost, would have overcame against the Samurai. However I don't believe they would overcome against the Spartan.
