  • Can someone please tell me what it actually means to kill "more than time" ? I'm very good at english but I really can't understand it. Does it means Rudy killed there more people than time did getting people to die by natural reasons? Please help

  • Kill=...

    -Murder

    -The taking of a life

  • I know what means to KILL.

I just don't understand what is Dexter meaning by saying "more than time" ?

  • He was making a joke, a very bad one to be honest. To "kill time" is to do something to occupy you while you wait for something or someone. Dexter, being a murderer, says he is killing MORE than time. Killing time by killing people. Get it? It's an incredibly poor joke.

  • kill=the taking of a life

murder=the taking of an innocent life

  • When you do something just to pass time you can say you're "killing time". Dexter sure kills more than just time! Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, as English is not my native language (nor second or third!) either.

  • you are right.

  • @btpascoal your doing fine

  • @btpascoal Your dead on with that

  • @btpascoal Fourth language? Jesus. You live in Finland or something?

  • @thelossbloodlock

No, dude! I Portuguese, and that's our only official language. No second languages for us. However we learn foreign languages from early age in school. I started with English, then had some French but followed the science branch in highschool so only had English. Others get French, German, English, Latin (the dead language!) and so on. I speak Spanish, English, a bit of French and my own language, which is Portuguese.

  • @thelossbloodlock Finland has only two official lanuages. Finnish and swedish, and 20% of the population are socalled "Finnishsweedes". From where do you have it that Finland has four lanuages?

  • @thulesociety If you live in Finland your first language is naturally finnish, however if your family comes from a different nationality, your second or third language might become that one which means that english is your fourth. That's what I meant. I know about Finland, half of my family is from there =)

  • @btpascoal Well I must say for someone who's first, second, and third language is not English, your grammar is a thousand times better than most of the other comments on YouTube. You must be a real pro by now. Big props to you.

  • @btpascoal Im way late on this response, but you write and spell better than most native english speakers that I know.

  • @btpascoal You speak four languages. Geez, you put most Americans to shame. Je ne connais que deux.

  • @seymourbollocks12

I don't think you know most Americans.

E l'italiano è la lingua vera e propria del romanticismo.

  • @btpascoal No you got it perfect! Good job!

  • hahahhaha it's a pun, silly!

as in the expression "kill time" like, you have too much time and try to speed things up by doing stupid stuff, or "killing" it. So Dex doesn't JUST "kill time".

  • no problem! In America, to waste time is "to kill time".

    i.e. "What are you doing?"

    "Nothing...just killing time"

Dexter is making a pun: Rudy is not just wasting time (killing time), he is killing people.

  • @r3miPL

The English idiomatic expression "killing time" means wasting time. Most people kill time watching TV, reading a book, or commenting on videos on Youtube. Dexter kills time by killing people, which is a pun by the author.

So, when he says he kills "more than time", it is referencing the above pun, but also that he is not just killing time, but also killing people, therefore killing more than just time.

  • so how many books are there?

  • Yeah! I agree. I read all the books in two days and I'd love to see the Last Nurse.

  • can someone uploud the scene when dexter kill the nurse who gave morphium to his father?

  • Yeah! I agree. I read all the books in two days and I'd love to see the Last Nurse.

  • morphium? WTF?

  • You mean morphine?

  • i love this so x1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.87

  • @lolliepopx I guess that's.... over 9000!!

  • @Ryadriz lol i get it

  • a killer series ...

  • yay !!! more dexter previews !! the season finale looks amazing!!!! can't wait

  • I will just say - I am loving this series - I really can't wait till it comes out over here on DVD.
