You have to drive them very fast, or they handle like crap. A FWD road car does not need a rear spoiler - a spoiler on a FWD car pushes down the rear end, creating a reverse rake which lifts the front end, reducing the weight over the drive wheels - thus making the situation worse. So even if it is functional on a FWD car, it's doing harm not good.

Especially on street tires. Suddenly throwing off the balance of a car that severely isn't something that a piece of aluminum bolted to a trunk lid can can do anything about.
@lurch1489 - I realize that. What I said applies especially at highway speeds. Those cheap ebay spoilers don't provide enough down-force to make a significant difference at highway speeds. And if you're making such a sharp correction that you break loose the non-powered rear wheels with street tires at 70 mph, the relatively small amount of down-force provided by those spoilers isn't going to make a difference.

@tony1228810125 Yeah, although I am pure V8 muscle man now.. I have had 2 twin turbo 3000GTs. Well one 3000GT and one Stealth, both HEAVILY modded. Twin 15G turbos and all the supporting mods, I won't go into detail, but a recipe for 500-510 crank horsepower. Not a single body mod. No wheels, no spoiler (except stock one)... no lights, no body kit. All my money went into the engine.
I think body kits and wings are such a waste. Tasteful wheels are ok, though.

Yeah, my wife has a 3G Eclipse GS 5-speed. It's reliable and good on gas mileage. It came with 17" chrome 5-spoke aftermarket wheels when she bought it used. It has 170,000 miles on the original engine and runs great. Pulls to redline and the engine is quite as a mitsu 2.4 can be.
Me, when I got my first V8 (owned 4 V6 cars), it was just a 94 T-Bird with the 4.6 HO V8. I loved the characteristics of the V8 so much mroe than other engines, and that's the anemic 4.6. I got a 5.0 now.
But yeah, I'm a V8 only person now, and hope to be able to only own V8's from now on. I'm a real auto lover, and just driving a vehicle I love is nearly all I need to live on, lol. Hope to have a nice built foxbody notchback one day, OR a 351w stroked to a 408w in my '86 F-150. One day...

I can see many of you are confusion of what a ricer really is, so here it is. ANYTHING can be a ricer, from the most stupid looking honda crx, to a corvette that drives around my town all the time(very nice car, what a shame, all done out it blue and yellow, even blue and yellow window tint, so sad). I have seen some nice looking hondas, though im not a fan, and some nice looking muscle and classics. Here is some proof that anything can be a ricer.

I take my classic to car shows and everytime some dumbass ricer comes in with his Honda or Mitsubishi with a useless wing on the back a bunch of fake decals and a fart cannon the size of my head and trys to show off in front of pure American Muscle cars. When they show up people just leave me included. I wish they'd realize car show equals classic cars THAT PEOPLE DO NOT SEE EVERYDAY OR ARE WORTH SOMETHING. not a honda that i see 100 times a day when going to work.

@fatalvoices - A F1 car needs them 95% of the time. The cars are so light that without the added downforce in the corners they would simply spin. You have to drive them very fast, or they handle like crap. A FWD road car does not need a rear spoiler - a spoiler on a FWD car pushes down the rear end, creating a reverse rake which lifts the front end, reducing the weight over the drive wheels - thus making the situation worse. So even if it is functional on a FWD car, it's doing harm not good.

@lurch1489 - Not really. If you swerve hard enough to break the rear wheels loose on a FWD car, a spoiler isn't going to do anything to help correct that or prevent it from happening. Especially on street tires. Suddenly throwing off the balance of a car that severely isn't something that a piece of aluminum bolted to a trunk lid can can do anything about.

@lurch1489 - I realize that. What I said applies especially at highway speeds. Those cheap ebay spoilers don't provide enough down-force to make a significant difference at highway speeds. And if you're making such a sharp correction that you break loose the non-powered rear wheels with street tires at 70 mph, the relatively small amount of down-force provided by those spoilers isn't going to make a difference.

I hate people who think all imports are ricers. tuners and ricers are 2 very very very very very different things. ricers are people that put big fart cans, spoilers, and body kits on their car thinking it makes them go faster. tuners actualy work on the engine to make their cars go fast. as for me, I like the sleeper look. less attention from the cops! ;)

@tony1228810125 Yeah, although I am pure V8 muscle man now.. I have had 2 twin turbo 3000GTs. Well one 3000GT and one Stealth, both HEAVILY modded. Twin 15G turbos and all the supporting mods, I won't go into detail, but a recipe for 500-510 crank horsepower. Not a single body mod. No wheels, no spoiler (except stock one)... no lights, no body kit. All my money went into the engine.
I think body kits and wings are such a waste. Tasteful wheels are ok, though.

nice, yeah I'm a big muscle car/ sports car guy too. if I had it my way, I'd get rid of my rx8 and eclipse and Id have a nice vette in the driveway. but I don't see me having one for a very long time. lol, well, I'm looking for the z06 model. the cheapest one I've seen so far was a 98 z06 for 22k. I got to sit in it though so I was happy.

Yeah, my wife has a 3G Eclipse GS 5-speed. It's reliable and good on gas mileage. It came with 17" chrome 5-spoke aftermarket wheels when she bought it used. It has 170,000 miles on the original engine and runs great. Pulls to redline and the engine is quite as a mitsu 2.4 can be.
Me, when I got my first V8 (owned 4 V6 cars), it was just a 94 T-Bird with the 4.6 HO V8. I loved the characteristics of the V8 so much mroe than other engines, and that's the anemic 4.6. I got a 5.0 now.

But yeah, I'm a V8 only person now, and hope to be able to only own V8's from now on. I'm a real auto lover, and just driving a vehicle I love is nearly all I need to live on, lol. Hope to have a nice built foxbody notchback one day, OR a 351w stroked to a 408w in my '86 F-150. One day...
