  • For a guy that appears to have done an amazing amount of research that is the most boneheaded comment. Like saying "i've been drinking water out of my Lead supply lines all my life, and I'm fine."

Hears hoping you don't let children drink your untreated rain water.

  • @lefty0mtl I don't know who you are quoting but it wasn't me.

  • Just a brilliant set of videos. Can't wait to cue up the next in the series! One question...Do you have any concerns harvesting drinking water from your asphalt shingled roof, versus from say a standing seam steal roof? ie. chemical leaching etc. Thanks for the vids!!!

  • @lefty0mtl No.

  • @LDSPrepper Then you must be passing it all through a very thorough filtration system in order to make it safe for drinking. What kind of system are you planning on installing? I finished reading that amazing Texas Rainwater harvesting guide you posted a link to where it stated:

    ---Composite or asphalt shingle---

Due to leaching of toxins, composite

shingles are not appropriate for potable

systems, but can be used to collect water

    for irrigation.

  • @lefty0mtl That sounds like the warning on the garden hose. However I have been drinking from a garden hose my whole life.

  • @LDSPrepper what are you using as a filter?

  • @TheMrgrackle I recommend the berkey water filter system.

  • Your neighbors won't say Jack, cause they think you will save them....So let them think happy thoughts....

  • Does the guards ever cos for the heavy rain to just shoot off the roof over the gutters?

  • @AReptileMan I have used these guards for 5 years. I wondered the same thing when I bought them. I have gone outside in heavy downpours to see if water would run over the guards and not into the gutters. Luckily it has never happened.

  • Oh I dunno...a few pine needles in your water with a lil Texas sun heat, might make you a nice big batch of medicinal pine needle tea! Just kidding! Good looking system ya got there, nicely done. Do you get enough sun for solar charging? Or maybe thats just too much of a hassle to deal with. Here in the Mojave Desert of California, though, it makes perfect sense to us, so thats what we're going with. Keep on prepping!

  • @AnnBearForFreedom If you are asking if I get enough solar charging to use solar panels the answer is yes. I get 8+ hours of full solar charging from my panels to my battery bank a day.

  • I’d be surprised if the neighbors aren't complaining about the bees and the hive in such a densely populated subdivision. I like your vid-s and want to get some bees for myself. How have you dealt with complaining neighbors if you’ve had any?

  • Where did you get the water cubes?

  • It pays to shop around. Gutter guards will pay for them selfs when the gutters don't clog up and cause your roof to leak.

  • Nice job, looking forward to seeing those water totes hooked up, Thanks for Sharing.

  • GREAT price on the gutters from Oscar - just shows it pays to shop around. Thank you for the info on the Home Depot gutter stops too.

  • Home depot was really trying to rip you off...

    The system looks great.

  • HD really wanted over $5,000.00? What a rip off!

  • looking good!

Do you have to worry about a neighborhood association? Are they going to make you put some kind of cover around the totes?

  • @sciwolf359 The totes are in the back yard and can not be seen from the street. So I am OK.
