Well, I've always used Pinnacle Studio 12, but I just recently bought Sony Vegas 11. Pinnacle is easier to use, but it takes much longer to render stuff, and Sony Vegas has more complexity to it but is much nicer for rendering and editing, much quicker. In the end though, Sony Vegas is not that hard to get used to. I've just started using it for gaming videos and I'm already learning quite a lot.

Because even though it makes a good snow, it's hard to animate with because there are so many individual little particles and also because it can get things pretty messy and be a pain to clean up.

Yah, you could make snow by using white LEGOs, white cotton balls, basically anything that's white. I agree that the sugar was tough to use, but in the end it does create a pretty nice snow effect.

Glad you liked it! The snow on the ground was sugar, and the falling snow was made using a free program called sqirlz.

Nope, you can make it rain, snow, or puddles/rivers of water. Haven't used it in a while so I can't tell you exactly how, but I suggest you download it and mess around with it. I know it's not too difficult of a program.

I used an FML light bulb. Just google search it and you'll find it. It gives off a cool, blue tint, which worked great for this film! To find the type of lamp I used, google search for sunlight desk lamp.

I'm not sure. I know it was more than I needed. I made a thick layer over the LEGO baseplates, but a thin layer would have done fine too. Remember, you don't have to cover the entire set in sugar, just what's in the camera view.
