You're equally stupid with the retarded buffoon that repeats "Force of Will kills you" like a motherfucker.
The point of the "fow exists" statement is to encourage you to learn to play your combo decks ahead of your opponent, so that Force of Will will not harm you, and you learn to play with your opponent and not just by yourself. It also doesn't matter how many combo decks you have build, if Fow did not exist, we would all be playing Belcher.
I agree with this video. The person who says Force of Will dosn't even own one and the chances of getting one of 60 cards in your opening hand is hard even if you have 4 of them.
Oh I have 3 of them I bought a box a long time ago. :)
I saw a video where one guy has 150 force of wills, so I will have to say that not a lot of people are going to force of will your combos, so I wouldn't worry about it hahaha.
And besides, you will have 4 Force of Will in your deck. You're not THAT sure you're gonna have it in your opening hand. Really, those "Force of will players", have never used their brain cells...
Yea everyone who plays has weak points. My turn four infinite life loss deck loses to counterspells it just depends on your opponent's deck and skills
Right, but if you build a combo-deck with Duress/ Thoughtsize you´ll need more luck to gather your combohand... only players with a LOT OF LUCK have a hand with all pieces to win surely...
Yes, a well timed FoW can be devastating but a combo deck like Grim Long doesn't only have disruption to protect a single combination of cards.
It's a deck filled with must-counter bombs like Yawgmoth's Will, Tinker, Ancestral Recall, Timetwister, Wheel of Fortune, Necropotence, Yawgmoth's Bargain.
Good luck pitch-countering all threats that are being played. Duress and Thoughtseize only help the cause rather than being very important in the deck.
@WhiteProfondo that's why you have cards that allow you to gain mana quickly and some vampiric/diabolic/demonic tutors. Culling of the weak and dark rituals are good as well as cards that let you draw new ones.
@LennoxLewis86 yep. Duress is one of the best cards ever printed. Destroy anything in hand that's not a creature or land for 1. Oh you were gonna play stroke of genius or braingeyser? I'm sorry.
It's basically a free counter spell. You can ignore it's casting cost by paying one life and removing a blue card in your hand from the game. It's a really good counter spell to have in your opening hand to counter first turn plays when you have no mana. The problem I have with it though is that every time I post a new combo on Youtube there is always at least one comment from someone who says that my combo sucks because all they have to do is cast Force of Will.
i see now i haven't play magic for like a year. anyways they might be right about countering a combo with force of will.
but they have to have it in there hand in order to play it. and has we all know if they only have one copy it's really hard to pull the right card on your first turn unless they are stacking there deck.
i've seen some of your combos there pretty nice. but force of will can't be countered which would be hard to protect against if possible.
Well they are right about being able to counter the combo with Force of Will. My whole point is that people don't have to point it out all the time, it's like pointing out that water is wet and expecting the other person to say "Well I haven't thought of that."
@jedi1josh Honestly though, that's true of any combo, isn't it? Any win condition you throw out there can be cocked up by dropping Force of Will. Even moreso on these first turn kill combos, since you're dumping all your resources into that kill condition, thus having no resources left for backup. Honestly, it's not like bleating out "Force of Will" is some blinding flash of insight. I think we're all quite aware at this point that one of the key uses of Foece of Will is as a combo breaker.
Although, if you're talking about that zero turn win, Contagion is another weakness. Hell, there's a couple cards which read off kind of like Force of Will.
I am referring to several videos and comments I've made over the last couple years. It seems that every strategy I show has someone pointing out it's weakness against FOW. Contagion hasn't been mention yet, good call and thanks for commenting.

opponent has 2 lands ....they cast force of will
you have 3 lands and cast mana leak in response
your one hit combo hits them
force of will=50 bucks plus
mana leak=1 - 2 bucks
beating your opponent with a card that cost way less than theirs and still landing your combo in their face = priceless.........yeah i know its old

The title is very clever and I think people should realize that everything in magic has an answer to it no matter what you try to do.

You are right: People always say some combos suck because force of will beat it. They must shut up. Force of will is a very good card anyway :D
gabrimagic16 2 years ago
@gabrimagic16 force of will is okay but it shrinks your hand. And sometimes you don't have another blue card.

Many cards beat Force of Will. Duress or Thoughtseize easily clears the path for a combo a turn later.
