"The groups at UCLA, and especially the Scattertones, I've seen them, and they are really just not good.....they suck, I've seen them.....Scattertones are horrible"
The VoCals rock. No one can deny that. However, after listening extensively to "Somebody to Love" and "Feelin' Good"... it is not difficult to say that the Scattertones have better arrangers. Let me also point out that as beautiful as "All the Things You Are" is, it was NOT arranged by a VoCal. When the Scatts hit the ICCA stage this year, they will bring collegiate a cappella to a new level. That, is a promise.
Just to clear things up. We have nothing against the SoCal VoCals. They are one of the best groups in the country right now (justified by the fact that they just won the International ICCAs in New York). For the purposes of this video, the people who filmed it needed trash talk to make the rivalry sound better for their pilot. Thus, we were told to say a majority of these things. We are also sorry that RO was screwed over by the editing.
Yeah, acapella fans know this! But the "trash talk" was so incredibly funny - and it added nice edge into this video. Whomever put this clip together, great job! - it would be fun to see followups :)
I think all the groups put on a good show at the Marin Center (and RO did a super job at their quarterfinals also). The ICCA is really bringing the best out of all the groups.
I'm sorry. I've heard every group at BOTH schools--just heard the TriTones, Scatts, and Awaken at ICCA quarterfinals. Awaken had more fun, Scatts had more intensity...and SC's fans were ridiculously rude. Skill is nearly even; character, Bruins domninate. Sorry kids.
I'm sorry but I went to UCLA and I have heard every group at BOTH school and as much as I hate sc I've always wanted to be a vocal. They have so much more fun and they are overall quite better. I've heard both groups and honestly to say "skill is nearly even" is just crazy. The vocals made everyone (including scattertones) look like novices at ICCA semifinals. just the facts...
I think it's interesting that the first two songs in the video are being sung by USC Reverse Osmosis, and they're mentioned nowhere in the video or its notes.
Hey... this matchup is really going to happen! In San Rafael, at the ICCA semi-finals on March 15th!
The SoCal Vocals came in first place of their quarterfinal - and the Scattertones came in second place in their quarterfinal. Ahhh, but These Guys came in second in the VoCals quarters and Fermata Nowhere came in first at the Scatt's quarters and these two all male groups are really good.
It gets more complicated than that. If my sources are right, These Guys spun off from Fermata Nowhere - several of TG's members are former FN members.
Also, several members from both groups still sing together in the Westminster Chorus, this year's men's international champion barbershop chorus.
Yeah seriously, all that trash talk was created to add effect to the notion of the VoCals and the Scattertones having some kind of bitter rivalry going on. There is no rivalry in real life, primarily because the VoCals ARE so much better. Scattertones:VoCals as Keystone:Newcastle.
After watching this video...the scattertones from UCLA show class and they dont come off trashy. EX: USC girl and guy talking about painting a penis and her later hooking up with that guy and saying his penis tasted like..." and singing that scattertones suck...? Scattertones have so much class and Im proud to know that they dont stoop to USC's level. Scattertones are the winners on and off the stage and this little video proves that.

Lol, ya, this year it isn't much to argue that VoCals are ICCA champions...But hey! Scattertones definitely upped their game. Maybe next year.

Sorry, I'll be more specific - "Call Me When You're Sober" and "Take Your Mama" were RO. There was a brief bit at the very beginning from the VoCals.
