TrackIR Pro 4 its the best piece of hardware u can buy for FS and many other racing titles. An infrared device sits on you monitor and captures and amplified your head movement. Just Google Naturalpoint TrackIR for website. It's expensive but I wouldnt have FS with out it
Aight. Setting frames to unlimited is better in some cases, except for flickering. Went back to XP, which were a performance increese. Which tweaks er you using? Running SP2? And i`m curious, how did you OC your CPU to 3.9? I`ve gotten it up to 3.4 at MAX. And Yes, it did help. Thanks!:)
Wotu mean flickering is your AA filter on gpu? Yes FSX SP2. £190 motherboard helps OC and good heatsink -Zalman CNPS9700-NT nVidia Tritium with AS5 paste.cfg file contains foll tweaks: FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.99 (to get sharp textures-in theory set this high will lower fps but no effect on me); TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400; for GA planes I also tweak LOD_RADIUS=4.500000 to 7.5 which extends sharp textures however entering display settings menu will reset this to 4.5 so manual changing needed
I`ve got a pretty similar system as you. Just not the XXX edition of Ultra. I`am not running as smooth as you though. You`re even runnings FRAPS, which steals some frames.
Afraid my settings are always changing. Main thing is water detail is lowered to Low 1.x, scen complex-very dense, autogen-sparse, mesh complex-60,mesh resol-19m, text resol-30cm, resol-1920x1200, turn off aircraft shadow on ground, weather on max, all AI traffic off (though had roads on 4this vid), FSX.cfg file tweaked 2. FPS set to unlimited as locking it kills my frames. For General Avaition aircraft most settings on max except AI again and water quality a bit higher. Hope this helps.
£2500 (See my specs). This is even 'last generation' compared to what you can get now with say a 790i Ultra motherboard, a Quad core extreme 4GB of high speed DDR3 memory and the new overclocked 280 video cards with their huge amount of memory bandwidth
Its quite expensive 59.99 Euros (£45 approx) but worth it although you need good performance in FSX to get the best out of it or lower a lot of your settings like autogen and water quality before using it to compensate for the loss in fps that this aircraft will give
If you are refering to FSX SP2 then yes of course it works. SP2 greatly improves performance so I would certainly get it. When I first ran FSX without any SP installed it was poor but with SP2 and a good payware GA aircraft by Caranado I can put Scenery Complexity on Extremely dense and autogen on Very Dense and still get 45 fps
Yes they do just download the latest AIRCA Cycle from Navigraph to allow the Flight Management Computer to use the latest jet and victor airways together with SIDS, STARS and terminal procedures
Nice video 5/5. Couple of procedural things not mentioned here, that will help you out. When starting engines, it's not necessary to shutdown all 3 bleed packs, just 2 and 3 leave 1 to Norm. Normally you would start engines during pushback, so you would set the Hyd pumps first 3 Auto and 4 to Aux. Once the first engine starts, you'll get a message that the Aux pump is no longer needed, then you can switch the 4th pump back to Auto.
Thanks, I know about the packs and leaving the flightdeck on norm but turn them all off as it lets me hear the engines better. The Hyd pumps is also an error I realised after stitching the video together, you will notice they are switched on then a while later off again. I also wanted a manual start and pulling the starter which failed to light as the Auto switch was still engaged. It's all a learning curve ;-)
It's a pity you missed the Gen Cont switches during your preflight. These switches should always be pushed in (even on a dead ship).... Rather embarrassing leaving your ship in darkness after you switch off your APU :P
Thanks, I had just briefly run my eyes over the checklist before so most of that was from memory as I couldn't record the video and check the manual at the same time with TrackIR (view would go everywhere!). Thanks for the info about the switches, I will try to stick to the checklist in future ;-)
I'm not a fan of Vista and ditched it for XP. E6850 has FSB of 1333 default which helps (E6600 1066) though I have mine at 1740 and my DDR2 oc helps and my gpu has a huge memory bandwidth of 110Gb/s which helps to make things smooth. FSX.cfg file also tweaked and a lot of time spent on the graphic settings. I get smoother rates flying Carenado Cessnas even when turning the graphic settings even higher. Water, texture resolution and AI aircraft are main killers of fps so play around with them
crap 747 i got a much better a340-600

does the pmdg 747 eat much frames

You can expect to get about 50% of what you get with default aircraft so yes it DOES eat alot of fps ;-( Thats why my AI traffic is OFF to help

You may also need to up the voltage on the cpu I have mine at 1.52v (not brave enough to go higher) and keep temps monitored using CoreTemp
