I was a big MTV fan during the early to mid 90's with LIQUID TV, BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD, DARIA and other animated stuff. Late 90's is when MTV started going downhill.

All of these spin offs of one original show about teen pregnancy is ridiculous, only one is needed, i don't think it's a bad thing to have a show like that, i guess it does show what it's like to be a pregnant teen, and that's helpful to some people, but then again it's very different for every person who experiences it. F'n MTV and VH1. Going though the early morning (after midnight) DVR listing to search for 80's and metal music. Christ, They SUCK! A few hours, if that PLUS.....most of that time are COMMERCIALS!!! This video is an instant time machine! I'm instantly transported back to summertime growing up, the breeze in my window bringing in smells of fresh cut grass, flopped on my bed watching this without a care in the world. MTV truly ruled back then. It's sad what's happened to it...but with music not really dependent on video anymore it wouldn't be the same anyway. Yeah back when MTV actually played MUSIC, since that was the concept after all. Now it is the leader in trash t.v. Skanks, sex, fights, cheating, belittling each-other. No real music at all. MTV not only killed the radio star but also killed the video star. Go figure. Go turn it on right now and I will bet my nuts that someone is fighting, cheating, crying. It's pathetic to say the least. They are a big part of the lack of great art today.

Awesome lecture you laid out here. I know it MTV nowadays has the worst shows on TV these days and last but not least why are they calling it MTV since they are playing solely reality. Shouldn't it be called RTV (Reality Television). Worst but not least VH1 also is a horrid reality jungle. Not even Behind the Music or I Love the... series anymore. Now horrid reality, too. MTV and VH1 are going to lose lots of viewers if they don't return to being music video channels strictly.
