No. If this hypothetical planet/star existed and passed that close, and has made 4 other trips through our system it would knock many, if not all, of the planets off of the orbit on our current ecliptic plane. The devastation it would cause would also make this planet hostile to life as it would take hundreds of thousands of years, maybe millions, for things to calm down. But if it's recurring every few thousand years, there would be no time for such recovery.
There's no way such a large body could travel through our system without messing up the orbits of the terrestrial planets on it's first passing, let alone 3 other passings after that. There may be a companion star with planets to may slingshot comets/meteors in our general direction, causing periodic devastation and possibly even extinction level events.

Massive x flare = shut down of the electrical grid on earth.. most nuclear facilities will melt within 8 hours. Nuclear reactors do have back up generators that are either battery operated of diesel powered.. but only good for 12-24 hours.

No. If this hypothetical planet/star existed and passed that close, and has made 4 other trips through our system it would knock many, if not all, of the planets off of the orbit on our current ecliptic plane. The devastation it would cause would also make this planet hostile to life as it would take hundreds of thousands of years, maybe millions, for things to calm down. But if it's recurring every few thousand years, there would be no time for such recovery.

There's no way such a large body could travel through our system without messing up the orbits of the terrestrial planets on it's first passing, let alone 3 other passings after that. There may be a companion star with planets to may slingshot comets/meteors in our general direction, causing periodic devastation and possibly even extinction level events.

the underground bases seems not in help if earthquakes happen.. even if earthquakes doesnt affect the base, if planet X really hit earth, crust will break and the base wont survive either, unless it can resist the heat of mantle and float on it which is impossible:P

Yeah - the earth has existed for billions of years. Beginning with microbes and then mosquitoes and a thick and heavy hot atmosphere. As the earth cooled and the atmosphere fell as water and other chemicals to earth, the oceans filled and the earth expanded. Fish appeared, then lizards (including dino's) and finally mammals which ate all eggs laid on the ground (that's why there are no dino's left). Now imagine, the earth is cooling down, not heating up. Nukes & Asteriods can't do us in!!!
