Sweet video! I did criterium in New Hampshire last weekend. I think you guys should come to New England. We have some seriously fast criterium racers around my area.
wasnt the smartest idea for the group to slow down at 0:45 ... thats what seem to have allowed ya to get into a more front forward position for the sprint. this is why in most pro races it seems as if the pace is always kept high so it's harder for people to do that.
You left your run too late, you were quite lucky the field slowed down so much coming into the first corner of the last lap and you could slip up the inside.
I've been in race were if you aren't in the top 10 1km out, you generally don't have much hope at all.
@djacri iv never seen cali crits but I heard nm arizona oklahoma and texas have the fastest speeds year in year out becuase cat 1's and 2's move or train in colorado or utah then do races in sea level states.
@curtmastor Colorado has some of the fastest crits I have ever raced in, from 4's to 2's. We haul ass up here, because we train so much on the mtn's. Texas is fast, but a different kind of fast.
Winning a field sprint is not easy, especially for most competitors. Going fast takes much preparation. Most racers can't reach the speeds required to win. In a field of 100, there may be 15% who can go fast. Time trialling fast does not translate into sprint fast. Most 40k TT racer's can only do a 1:15 kilo. To win a field sprint you need to be able to pop off at least a 1:08. It's not only a matter of strength or fitness. I've seen guys who were 5'5' and 110 lbs who could whip anyone.
Kind of looks like Wood Dale, just reverse of 2009. Biffbradford, definitely Illinois, seeing as I see at least one of my fellow ABD teammates in there.
Hmmm.. I suppose that's possible but word on the street has it that mid-western crits are considerably faster than anything on the west coast. That said, this was a rather small field and an early season race.

This wasn't a USCF sanctioned race so there actually were Cat 4's and 5's in the field. Some just fast enough to get in the way on the last lap.

@nerodesign your smoking crack. West coast first, then maybe Colorado (Boulder), not sure where to next. Mid west does not come to mind though.
