  • There is nothing like seeing Sam sing his own stuff in person.. Who else could give it the honesty and depth of feeling in which it was written.... Wish I lived in Austin..I'd like to see him more.

  • I'm going to buy his cd wwhich is the 1st one i should buy

  • Well...since there's only 2, why not start with the first one - Mercy. But since there's only 2 and if they're being mailed, buy'em both, they're both excellent . The second one is called Pretty World.

  • Sam Baker is a treasure. Buy his CDs, go see him play, and tell people about him. He deserves to be heard by many.

  • Damn right. The guy is an amazing songwriter, and an his delivery is just fantastic...for some it may take some getting used to, but thats part of the charm, I reckon. Sam is one of my heros.

  • @Stralok1 Not sure what he has done to be your hero because he really has a hard time doing his own stuff and making it come across with any substance. Just needs to stick to the writing and let others that can sing and/or deliver his lyrics better that he does. He is just really hard to listen to. Good writer, bad delivery, really bad delivery!!

  • @coleyman1 Gotta disagree, coleyman1 - The whole point as far as I can see is that they are his songs, with his delivery, and that's why they work so good. The vulnerability of his delivery is just one of the things that I appreciate. And he's a real good guy, too, which is never a bad thing.

  • @Stralok1 I'm sure he is a great guy, and I have no doubt that he has a following, but I have heard others do his songs and they even seem more comfortable than he does doing his material. I just find nothing that I like about him and his act except the lyrics to his songs. I guess that's what makes the world go around, however... Have a good one!!

  • Pretty World!!! Pretty Music! Meet you one day guys.

  • My goodness! What kind of mother would name her kid 'Gurf'? Anyway, love this song.... it's beautiful. Thank you :-)

  • I'm writing this comment through tears in my eyes. The world needs more songs like Mr. Baker's. God bless you Sam.

  • I heard Sam Baker last weekend on KUT radio's Folkways in Austin and I liked it alot. He did this song. Thanks for posting it, and Gurf...well...yeah!

  • You're welcome.

I wish I was in Austin....
