It's a fallacy that we don't let our citizens die. Sure, if someone goes to the ER because they've ODed chances are that the ER will do what it takes to save their lives.

If you take an uninsured child to the ER who is dying of cancer, chances are that the ER will not give them chemo or other life saving treatments.
