  • Hey Taoist, I have an AirHogs HeliCage which has a rotor actuator like pictured at 1:10 above, but it doesn't seem to work, and steers only with the tail rotor. Do you know if it's supposed to work, or is it a vestige of a different single rotor helicopter based on a the same hardware? Surprisingly, you don't seem to have a review of the HeliCage, since you have a bazillion other models.

    Any ideas? Thanks creepy :)

  • @WaffleStaffel I would love to review it if I can get my hands on one.

the actuator is just for quick bursts of speed from what I can tell.

Their should be a button that activates it.

otherwise it's only a 2 channel helicopter that constantly moves forward and you only control left and right turns using the tail

  • @taoistflyer Ahh, there are 2 'forward' buttons I totally forgot about. Something's wrong though, because the actuator moves away from the rotor, making no contact.

The HeliCage is unremarkable. The cage helps right the copter half the time, but is more useful in protecting the blade and preventing it from slashing houseplants and LCD screens.

Thanks for your response. Your reviews are great. I'm going to buy a real 4 or 6 channel, gyro stabilized helicopter next, no more toys!

  • @WaffleStaffel That's the way to go.

  • does anyone else think this guy is creepy?

  • @mxds961 I do.

  • If you think this helicoper is big for a 3 channel RC helicopter I have a 3 channel apache helicopter that measures 15 inches long!!!!

  • @Megalodon64 I've seen those, their painfully big for a 3 channel.

  • and is it true that the air hogs helix 360 has pitch problems and the fly bar touching rear propeller...??

  • @rahulmustang45 I've never had those problems with my 360, it's easy to control and it is a lot better indoors then the blackhawk, it is infra red controlled though so it wont fly outside in daylight.

Between the 2 i fly the 360 a LOT more then the blackhawk.

  • which one do you suggest me to buy....

the air hogs helix 360 or the silverlit black hawk

as i would want it to go in all the directions...

  • hahaha black cock

  • 1:57 u look cool

  • This is great! Your a cool guy!

  • Hey, nice review , say are the rotors in one piece or are they built more conventionally (swinging rotors) I need to know because I want to buy this one but since silverlits customer service = 0 from where I am, I need to know if my local hobby shop can just install conventional rotors in case of breakage. Thanks in advance and I think I speak for us all if say that your efforts are greatly appreciated by all RC enthusiasts!

  • @SoLUnlimited Thank you for watching, I'm glad i can be of some help to the community.

The rotor blades are more conventional and easily removed, each one is held on with a single screw and is held with traditional looking blade holders, so you should be able to try different rotors with it or replace them if they break. They do look pretty standard so your LHS should be able to help you find or modify replacements.

  • I do like how realistic this one is.

  • nerd

  • nice !

  • Another great review. Looking forward to the outdoor footage. Where did you get it and what did it cost?

  • @Dar70 from Flying Toys Ltd, you can get a complete price list on their website they have a lot of other really cool Silverlit aircraft as well that i don't have reviews of.

  • Comment removed

  • Did they just get released in the U.S.?

  • @Pacfan98 they should be available soon, but in the us Air Hogs usually releases the Silverlit vehicles.

  • @taoistflyer There's also a Silverlit V-22 Osprey. It's basically a Picco-Z version of the Osprey.

  • @Pacfan98, he has that one...

  • Nice video RC 101.

  • I'm STILL flying my Helix 360 (silverlit/airhogs) after well over 250 flights. It's been through a lot (I am a really aggressive pilot and I like to do stunts, hard turns and stalls) and I noticed that the swash can slip out of place and I had to cut the top open to make it easier to quickly fix problems when they happen.

But yea, Silverlit choppers are really reliable I'm starting to learn. At least their newer 'hard body' helis are.

  • I like this one .

    Great for a little hovering in the back garden {"_*}

  • @spektrum33 it's really nice to be able to take it outside, i should have some good outdoor footage soon, it's been a little windy the past few days.
