Dear Joseph (nice Christian name), Amy was(?) a Christian singer and claims to believe in a Christian life. Christianity is a way of life and yes there are standards by which all should judge as Jesus himself judged the Pharisees and John the Baptist judged others. Look at it this way-I am not judging "beautiful" Amy-I am applying her own standard and the standards of the Bible to her way of life. Why can you not comprehend what I say? Read John 8 for Jesus' answer. Best wishes.
Oh please all you holier than thou people looking down your nose at Amy, save it. Unless you are perfect keep your condescending opinions to yourselves. She is only a human of flesh and blood and last I checked, isn't forgiveness and compassion something encouraged of Christians? Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.
Amy left a drug addict husband for someone better. And that is nothing for so-called Christians have any foundations to act snooty about. BTW what about that precious book of yours? Does it not say something about the first to stone has to be WITHOUT sin? Think about it before you go attacking anyone's character.
LOL, I grew up listening to this cassette and Michael W Smith, thrown in with a little bit of Carmen, I had, (what I thought was a sad up bringing) but honestly, I am right back where I need to be, so it is all good :)
@tallderektoronto It's late 1990/early 1991, at least it was shot then. She probably shot this before Christmas '90 or after New Year's 1991. The music is from 1990, but came out in January 1991.
accounts it sounds like her marriage was not necessarily a marriage made in heaven, and her husband has alot of responsibility that he needs to take for the failure of this. It doesn't sound like he was too much of a peach to live with. Having come from a family that was broken by divorce and understanding all the reasons that went into that divorce - it takes two to make the marriage, but only one to tear it apart. Amy and Vince have to answer to God for what may or may not have gone on.
You know why all of you are on here commenting and/or judging Amy on her personal life - those sitting reading your comments are doing the same to you. While the Bible does say thou shalt not commit adultery, there is no evidence that she and her current husband did that. Was there an attraction, yes, but did they do anything about that while they were married - we don't know that. We have only rumors about that. Having said that while this does not justify anything that went on from all
Don't know whether or not she is now into secular songs, what I only care about is that this is an awesome song which made me spend so many nice times back then.
@vicowenas His name is Jme Stein. He was also in her "Good For Me" video. If you google his name, you can see recent pictures of him. He is still handsome. :)
AMY GRANT IS A SATANIC WITCH! DO SOME RESEARCH FOLKS! SHE IS AN ILLUMINIST LIKE MOST MUSICIANS! SHE SOLD OUT!!! PRETTY OBVIOUS WHEN CBS IS PLAYING HER MUSIC. TRUE CHRISTIAN ARTISTS DON'T GET ANY MEDIA ATTENTION! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
So, premed...you talk about wanting to find out the Truth about the "dreadful" attacks on fellow Christians and investigating, then why are you making such a inappropriate comment about another Christian? If you walk in faith u walk in the fruit of the Spirit. Don't say one thing then throw rocks at others 4 that thing. AND don't make up a screenname since you got booted from Youtube for being hateful to others either. Man up...walk in love and peace, not vengeance!
It is a video and a song. There are many people that have a board in their eyes, but you know....we are supposes to walk in peace spreading good news. How does saying nasty comments about someones sex life any of our business? We aren't in the room, and shouldn't be talking about that. We should love everyone.
To all those happen upon this site, a Man-Boy idiot named "Sween9261" has taken it upon himself to personally sabotage Amy Grant's music and the comments of her approving fans. He has become a notorious Village Idiot who is infected with devilish spite and hate. "Sween" is a case-study for what an active psychotic behaves like and for the abusiveness of Freedom Of Speech. He has solely ruined this author's upload, this communal site, and this wonderful song. He is a Scourge on Youtube.
@katkollmer, I suspect YouTube's Village Idiot has constructed a multiplicity of aliases in a pitiful effort to make it appear as if he has a congregation of agreeable YouTube friends. Could it be that he's simply an adolescent, or maybe he's an emotionally immature adult... hmmm?
@chcknsht Yep...and posting private information about Youtube users on other channels. I had to submit a complaint again, but doesn't mean that person will not create more screennames to avoid permanent banning from Youtube. That is why are you always spammed. That is the only person that will spam. No one else cares. :)
"Sween9261" is obviously a spurned & dejected ex-lover. It is likely that
"Sween" drove away a woman who was once committed to him, but his religious fanaticism and abusive patriarchal ways became ludicrous and intolerable. Upon living & learning most people will correct their character defects and undesirable traits, but not "Sween," instead, in a desperate effort of purposeful denial "Sween" festered even deeper into his miniscule world of psychological dementia - he is a very ill man.
I filed several complaints on this person in different venues. I have asked the "legion" to grow up and meddle in her own life, but she gets attention when she does it this way I guess. I just don't want names of people posted as they aren't involve and interrupts privacy. I think Sween doesn't care about anyone privacy. If not, then she should post her name. I prefer to keep my name private. :)
@katkollmer I too will register a complaint against "Sween." I know the prevailing wisdom is to ignore a "public-nuisance," but some "eye-sores" are impossible to over-look. Especially when a person privately decimates the Bible with their scurrilous rhetoric. I noticed you referred to "Sween" as a woman, perhaps I've been mistaken in assuming that "Sween" the "Swine" was a dysfunctional male. I thought for sure "he" was a case study for what becomes of a rejected, sexless turned scorned man
@chcknsht I have noticed that comments I made have ended up as bookmarked later posted to some hacker site. My assumption is that when you annoy people, they take it out on you by posting things on google, or yahoo.....since Youtube isn't governing over those entity, it is hard to control the content. Public nuisance is a real understatement. Really, to me, that foolishness of bookmarking, labelling, quoting...is a waste of time.
Thank you for the nice & truthful words. I would like to share with you my own thoughts about Heaven's Gifts of animals - both wild & domesticated. As of this minute I am off to work but later I will correspond in a very supportive way. If you enable an access for me that is "less-public," I will share with you some "closing thoughts."
@chcknsht thought my email worked on my channel. Send me a friend request. God does use animals. See who Jesus was riding? A donkey....a very obedient animal that is not swayed by just any Master....he was obedient to THE MASTER. :)
I think "Sween9261" could be Amy's rejected ex-husband. If not, then he's been emotionally rejected by a different woman. I advised fellow YouTubers to find compassion for "Sween" rather than be appalled at his sickly hatred towards Amy. His hatred is so severe that whoever kicked him to the curb did so in devastating way. "Sween" is having a difficult time accepting that another man was more sexy, intelligent, and exciting than he was. "Sween" you must accept the fact that a better man won
@katkollmer, and you are correct as well. Every once and awhile I'll come to this video for a little musical happiness, and without failure there he is just a ranting & raving in a futile effort to destroy other people's joy. I'm not totally convinced he's not Margaret White's twin brother (the mother in the movie "Carrie").
Your persistent hate mongering against Amy makes me think you might be her divorced ex-husband. You seem to be obsessed with smearing her name over and over and over again. If you are her rejected lover, please seek psychological help that will help you heal from the trauma of being kicked to the curb. You must learn to face the fact that a more handsome, more intelligent, more exciting, and more sexy man stole her away from you. Face it "loser," the better man won.
@Sween9261 You are so full of selected hate, could it be that you are Amy's rejected and divorced Ex? You really should seek professional help for the depression-turned-spite that haunts your depraved soul since having been kicked to the curb in favor of another more interesting, more enjoyable, more intelligent, more handsome, and more sexy man than your own pitiful and pathetic self. Quit being a sore loser - accept it, face it, and move on in life. You lost and the better man won.

@AndrewsSister75 says: I wouldn't be caught dead listening to Christian music.
Well, AndrewSister75, this isn't Christian music. And, with God's Word, the Bible, as the measure, neither is Amy Grant a Christian. Someone can live in a garage and claim to be a Buick, but not be an automobile.
The ultimate Christian music is in another realm (Rev21:10), and so long as you remain an atheist you, indeed, will not be caught dead hearing it.

Personally I am an atheist and I wouldn't be caught dead listening to Christian music, but I do own Amy's "Heart In Motion" album, which I still enjoy listening to off and on. I liked her music because it had so much lightheartedness. I did see her in concert with Vince Gill and enjoyed her peformance still.

(Matthew 14:10-13): So he sent and had John beheaded in prison. And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. Then his disciples came and took away the body and buried it, and went and told Jesus. When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself.
Like Herodias, unrepentant adulterers falsely believe that they can silence God's heralds by flagging God's Word as spam, but God's Word is eternal, including (1Cor6:9).

Such a classic song!! Brings back so many memories of my childhood!! Sure wish music was still like this!! Always and forever this will be one of my favorites of all time!!
All you False-Prophets need to read the rest of the Bible. Especially that parts that speak about not having hate in your hearts, about vengeance not being yours, about leading by example, and about loving all people.
I have no doubt that you're really pissing Heaven off when you pretend to speak as if you're a Chosen One, and when you grossly misrepresent the Scriptures.
@FynalAuthority, as for me and my house, you are not the final authority -- in fact you have no authority at all! If you can point to God's Word specifically for authority, you will get my attention. But, until then, you are just a typical blowhard who claims for herself what she does not have and is not hers.
Why are you so defensive all of a sudden. We've been chuckling for hours at your hilariously stupid comments. We didn't want to argue with you, we just wanted to thank you for all the laughs & giggles you provide.
Thanks a million for being a genuine YouTube Bozo.
@FynalAuthority, you're welcome. As expected, I see that in typical fashion when you are challenged to draw upon the authority of God's Word, you are left with only your bluster showing.
We're putting YouTube on the big screen so that others can read your funny comments. It's really cool of you to amuse us with so many laughs & giggles.
In your ignorance of God's Word, though, you likely do not know that God does not need a "big screen" to follow every butterfly flap, and He is not mocked; He says (John 12:48): "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him - the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day."
For some, that last day is today. Are you ready to be judged by God's Word today?
Glad you're back. We gathered up some some beer & snacks and have been patiently waiting for you to start commenting again. We really do appreciate all the laughs & giggles you've provided on this otherwise boring Saturday night.
Please commence, we're ready to start chuckling again!!!!
'Sorry, FynalAuthority, I have to leave. Why don't you just pull down your pants and show everyone your tiny Timothy? That should be good for some laughs between now and your blackout.
I'll just leave you now to your self-entertainment, as I have other things to do, and you seem as one quite easily entertained without outside help.
By the way, if the cops show up, will any of you be of legal age? (You sound quite juvenile.)
Unrepentant adulteresses katkollmer "et al," cheer their model Amy Grant, and tell each other they are OK. But, God is not mocked. He says such sexually-immoral people have no inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor6:9), and He states that a sacrifice no longer exists for willful sinners who have knowledge of the truth (Heb10:26-27).
(Mark10:12) and (1Cor7:10-11) is true. Adulterers who love their sin more than they love God have no place in His Kingdom; flagging His Word as "spam" cannot change that.
@bdsamlal, sadly Amy shows no signs of repentance. She continues daily in disobedience to God's Word (1Cor 6:10-11), (John 14:23-24) such that (Heb 10:26-27), (Heb 6:4-6), (1Cor 6:9), and (Luke 17:1-2) appear to apply.
As she models this disobedience and leads young and impressionable people into believing that it is OK to disobey, to disregard God's commandments, ignore God's Word, it is no wonder God says what He does at (Luke 17:1-2). He is, after all, totally holy, righteous, and just.
What she has done (and is doing), genevieve1928, is to reject God's Word, to deeply hurt many "little ones" (about which God says (Luke 17:1-2)), and to use her celebrity to continue to model disobedience to "little ones" and the unwary.
Why can you not hear God's Word? Why do you contradict God's Word (at (Luke 23:43) and (2Cor 5:8))?
Anyone who loves God keeps His commandments, including the one at (1Cor 7:10-11).

@Sween9261 okay, so basically you are saying that her image is making others be unfaithful? that's definitely what it's sounding like. You're not answering my question: "what exactly did/is she doing?" not what the effect is or what i'm not doing. By the way, i am a very avid Christian, in fact, a Seventh-Day Adventist. I love Jesus Christ and will follow Him anywhere He leads. interesting verses you picked, but read on in Luke 17:3-4; also, don't go judging people (Matthew 7:3; 7:1; 7:15-23 :)
While God says (John 8:47): "He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
Read the conditional phrases in your own Scriptural references, genevieve1928! Does the SDA cult teach salvation without repentance? If you, indeed, would read my Scriptural references, you would see that unrepentant Amy remains daily in adultery (Mark10:12) and (1Cor7:10-11). What of (Heb6:4-6 and 10:26-27)?

@Sween9261 whoa! whoa! whoa! easy there! I'm not condemning you in any way! I'm very sorry if it sounded like that. So you're basically saying I'm a fraud, hm. Okay, why? I want to know why you think I'm "false." (you used John 8:47). I read the verses all right. I know what they mean to. I have many faults myself, I'm surely not saying I'm perfect, no one is perfect (Romans 3:23). And my religion is definitely not a cult and salvation is free, all we have to do is ask and repent. (Exodus 15:2)
OK, genevieve1928, so the SDA "religion" (as you call it) does not teach salvation without repentance? So, what about the other questions I asked you, incl. re: Hebrews? Why chide ianwr000 with your "soul-sleep" theology and contradict God's Word (at (Luke23:43) and (2Cor5:8)? Why do you recite the only (if any) Scripture known by most atheists (always out of context) to emasculate Christians or justify 'tolerance" of sin. God hates sin; we should, too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 1. it is a religion, look it up; 2. salvation w/o repentance, I don't believe I've ever heard that; 3. I'm not "chiding" (as you say) ianwr000 at all, I'm just telling him/her my beliefs, the dead are "asleep," they know nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5) so therefore they cannot be in heaven or hell. what Jesus was telling the thief on the cross in Luke 23:43 was not that once you die you will go to heaven, but when He comes again, he (the thief) will go to live with Him in heaven; 4....

@Sween9261 ... don't know how to get completely rid of it at the moment, so we kind of do have to tolerate it in a way... catch my drift? I know God hates sin, but He also loves the sinner, not exactly what they do, but He made them and He'll love them (us) to the end and beyond.

@Sween9261 also... forgot to mention this in my previous message. In Luke 23:43, where it says, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise," there's a factual story on that. when the Bible was translated into English, the Catholic Church had people believing that when you die you go straight to heaven/hell/etc, so SDA's believe if you change the punctuation to read "i tell you the truth today, you will be with me in paradise" Jesus is telling the thief, 'okay, i'm telling you..
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 ... today, you will eventually be with Me in paradise when I come back.'
now I'm not putting words out that He never said, but remember, ancient Hebrew didn't use punctuation marks or vowels, so the translators had to translate the best they could and that's just tied in with the beliefs they had back then, kind of make sense? :)
Answer: No. (1) the referenced Scripture was written in Greek, not Hebrew as you falsely claim. (2) do you not think Greek scholars (or Hebrew scholars) are able to distinguish between the two concepts you describe? (3) Scripture is consistent; there are many more passages like (2Cor5:8).
You, genevieve1928, are quite windy and heavy on opinion, but light on Scripture. Your opinion has no authority, God's Word does. What of Amy and (Heb10:26-27)?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 the referenced scripture? how about the original scripture? and it was both greek and hebrew and egyptian and so on if you want to be so technical. I think think they can distinguish between them, if they choose to do so; it all depends on their religious background, you see... when people were originally translating the Bible, they were Catholic (or Protestant and whatever), and back then the church believed that people go to hell/heaven/purgatory when they die. when you look at....

@Sween9261 i believe reading the whole chapter (2 Corinthians 5 perhaps..) helps to explain the verses. in verse 8, the author is preferring not to be clothed with earthly things, he wants to be with God, he'd much rather prefer to be with God than down on earth. If only God's Word has authority (as you say and i fully believe) then how come you're basically shoving your 'facts' down my throat and calling it true? it just doesn't make sense. With Amy, I believe the media has perverted her.....

@Sween9261 story to make her sound bad. she divorced her husband to get out of a bad marriage, then she remarried a while later. now she's happy, what's so bad about that? I believe Hebrews 10:26-27 is a very strong verse, but even if it was true look at Matt.26:28 (Jesus died for our sins whether we like it or not); Acts10:43 (Amy knows God);Ephesians1:7; John 3:16... does that answer your question? i hope you have a great day! Jesus loves you! :)
Well, genevieve1928, it is adultery! It is willful disobedience of God, subject to all the Scripture I have cited (incl Heb10:26-27), which you deem to replace with your worldly opinion, steeped in ignorance of both Bible and church history. How totally ignorant to dismiss 1st century Greek with claims about 4th or 16th-century translators whom you disparage. Did Jesus love Judas, Herodias, those at (Mark10:21), (Matt8:12; 13:41) and (Luke13:27)?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 I know what adultery is and such (Exodus 20:14), but Amy got divorced before marrying someone else, and she didn't get married immediately afterward. Adultery is when you "are with" someone other than your spouse when your married. I am not ignorant nor of "worldly opinion." Jesus loves everyone, as I said before, but He does not love what they do necessarily. No matter how much He loves them (us) He cannot and will not allow them into heaven for the spread of sin. the whole idea....

@Sween9261 of heaven is for God to start the earth over; to eliminate sin (Psalm 37:38). But Jesus/God is our Father, so like a Father, He treats us like His children. (2 Corinthians 6:18) He punishes us for our sins if He sees fit, but He'll keep giving us "2nd chances" so to say but there has to come a time when He says enough. When Jesus said, "sell everything you have and give it to the poor and come follow Me." He was talking to the rich young ruler, and God wants nothing to stand in our...
Yes, genevieve1928, and Amy's adultery also is more important to her than being obedient to God. God defines adultery, not you. Your cockamamie notions about "getting out of [what you deem] a 'bad' marriage" and what constitutes adultery is totally un-Biblical! God's Word is consistent and unambiguous (Mark10:12), (1Cor7:10-11), (Rom7:3), (Luke16:18), and on, and on...
Unless God is fickle and a liar, then Amy goes with Herodias (1Cor6:9).

@Sween9261 okay, i don't see we're getting to far, so how about we just agree to disagree? is that ok? I hope you have a great day and a great life! (Matthew 28:20; last part)
genevieve1928 says: "i don't see we're getting to far."
Well, genevieve1928, on that we agree. Too bad it's not Scripture. Disagreeing with God's Word is no place to be! I can see that you are quite ignorant of God's Word, but when you are faced with the Truth, to ignore, reject, or disagree with Him, you eliminate ignorance as an excuse. Surely, it is eternally serious to be, like Amy, in willful disobedience of God; but, I am not sure it helps much simply to be ignorant of His commandments.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 yeah, too bad. I agree, we need to be coherent with His words in the Bible. If believing Amy has not committed adultery is ignorance, so be it. I'm ignorant then if your perspective. So what? Everyone has their own opinion; and right now, that has nothing to do with Scriptures. Do you believe that I love God?
genevieve1928 says: Everyone has their(sic) own opinion.
Yes, genevieve1928, and your opinion is totally worthless, as it contradicts God's Word! Why are you such a strong advocate for adultery? Did you, like Amy, disobey God's commandment at (1Cor7:10-11)? Why can you not hear God's Word? Is it (John8:47)? Why do you steadfastly refuse to answer my questions about (Heb10:26-27), (Heb6:4-6), (1Cor6:9), (Mark10:21), (Matt8:12; 13:41) and (Luke13:27)? You need to think on (James4:4)!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 well thank you, i'm glad you're so kind with your words! my opinions do matter, maybe not to you (as you bluntly pointed out). It does not contradict it. I never committed adultery. in fact, I'm never been married, but that wouldn't matter at all to you would it? and everyone belongs to God whether they like it or not! did you not know that? (2 Corinthians 6:18) you're a lot like the people mentioned in Psalm 35:20! I do not refuse to answer your questions! it's just that you....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Sween9261 haven't been asking any questions about them... now have you? I've given you my opinion on amy and all, but supposedly that's not good enough. James 4:4? "Now he had to go through Samaria"? what are you trying to imply? I believe you have your verses mixed up! hmm... thinking .... thinking... thinking... nope... all i can come up with is you either want me to travel to Samaria, or to be a good Samaritan and admit "your right" and then leave you alone... yeah right
And, God says (Mark2:27): “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath."
Imagine, genevieve1928, cultists while arguing over when to observe a Sabbath, missing Salvation, unable to find (James4:4) in the Bible, if their cult "bible" even has (James4:4).
Cultists who deem to replace God's Word with opinion because they don't like what God's Word says, or because God's Word describes their predicament (John8:47). Or, for Amy, (Heb6:4-6).
@Sween9261 Thank you for your kind comments. Sales have dropped so she is now claiming that adultery never happened- Note the Larry King transcript-
KING; So then, I'm trying to figure out how it finally happened? Then did you get divorced? GRANT: I did. You know, the wheels just started coming off. I think, you know, I think because we didn't go the secretive sort of way. In my mind, I justified he can be my friend. And...KING: What you're saying is there was no adultery here? GRANT: No.
@bdsamlal, interesting! I've read the accounts from Janis Gill of the letter she found from Amy Grant in Vince's golf bag. It certainly seems that Amy's answer to Larry King could make Amy a liar subject to (Rev21:8) if her unrepentant, on-going state of adultery (Rom7:3), subject to (Heb10:26-27) were not already enough.
I heard Gary Chapman say that Amy's divorce papers claimed "irreconcilable differences"; Gary said the "irreconcilable" was that he wanted to stay married, and she didn't.
@Sween9261 -The problem is that Chapman did not concur then-
"In an interview with CCM Magazine, Chapman testified that Amy came to him in late 1994 and said: "I don't love you anymore You're the biggest mistake I've ever made. ... I've given my heart to another man" (CCM Magazine, January 2000, p. 36). It was not until three years later that Gill divorced his wife. Chapman said that Amy's relationship with Gill was the primary cause of the divorce." We must all learn to control our desires.

@Sween9261 good verse! how about this one? Exodus 20:8-11. Okay, quick question, why are you all of a sudden bringing up cults? we weren't even talking about cults in the first place? what have they to do with Amy? I think you're losing it.. now it's like you're saying Amy is in a cult. does anyone out there agree with me? please give me thumbs up. :)
genevieve1928: we weren't even talking about cults.
Smiles... no, genevieve1928, we were talking about (James 4:4), Have you found it yet, or does your cult's "bible" have something in its place about "samaria"?
Clearly, whatever "bible" your cult is using gives you a bunch of cockamamie notions about what constitutes adultery that differ substantially from the definitions laid down by the Triune God of the Christian Bible.
@Sween9261 okay... that's enough! don't you dare put down my religion, or my bible (which happens to be true); because by doing that you are putting down my God. and i do not appreciate that. I don't care what you have to say anymore, you are selfish and overpowering and I really don't care to associate with you anymore. so have a nice life and don't expect anymore responses!!!!!
@Sween9261 okay that's enough! no more! my religion is not a cult, and my bible is true and when you put down those you are putting down my God and I will not tolerate it anymore! I don't care what you have to say anymore. what are you wanting? Amy to personally contact you and "fess up?" Supposedly no one can be perfect like you (which you are far from it!)!!!! and i'm tired of you're constant downgrading of people and their beliefs. so don't expect any more responses from me. have a nice life.
@genevieve1928 Who cares if you love Jesus -just do what he says-If you truy love him you would obey his commandments and he said-On the sermon on the Mount he said-"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. -Now what do you think is the lesson here? Just say no to adultery.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@bdsamlal wouldn't loving Jesus have something to do with obeying His commands? (John 14:15). I know what adultery is, I just don't believe Amy has committed it. I agree with you, adultery is a sin and all, but I still don't think Amy has done it. Oh well, to each their own.. okay?
@genevieve1928 -Well, pretty genna, you don't know Amy very well-"it presaged her 1999 divorce from Chapman, her husband of 16 years and father of her three children. When the divorce was announced publicly, and it was revealed that Grant intended to marry longtime collaborator Gill, many in the Christian community were again up in arms over Grant's actions". Look Amy doesn't want to be pigeon-holed (Good House Keeping) She ain't no Christian and Jummy ain't no pastor and . . .
@bdsamlal Look the 10 commandments have nothing to do with Jesus, Moses climbed MT Sinai about 1000 or more years before Jesus was born. But that does not give Christians the rite to disobey gods commandments since we all believe in the same god. Right?
Ah, but I never quoted from the ten commandments, did I-I quoted from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount (See Matthew 5: 27-32). If we love the Father, we must know his word, yes?
@3124481731 I have no problem with secular songs and singers-I do have a problem with hypocrisy among those who tell us they believe in the Christ. If she is a pop singer and didn't pretend to live a Christian life, that would have been another matter-But it is the pretense that she engages in that disorients me. Also her failure to say, "hey, look, I am sorry, I stole your husband" really makes me upset. Having said that, what do you think of Angelina?
I have a problem with hypocrisy amongst those who claim to believe in Christ but don't follow his basic tenets, such as "Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgement", "Love your neighbour as yourself" and generally being about love rather than disdain.
The time you spent writing about your dislike of this singer and inviting comments about Angelina Jolie (which also seems to suggest a worshipping of false idols) could have been spent on helping the needy.
@josephscott80 If Angelina Jolie is a false idol, she is yours alone because I think that she is just a tortured soul in need of a Father who truly loves her. Joseph, that father is God. Where does God say " make a right judgment" in his word? Wouldn't "right" be by his standards alone for he is God? And what does he say on adultery? Amy believes these words too, but does not practice it. The same applies to pastors who commit adultery. You can love someone and still tell them they are wrong.
Where's the Christian love in your reply? You brought up Jolie, not me. Why are you concerned with her? You should be concerned with your own goodness and spending your time loving your neighbour and helping all the starving, impoverished people of the world, not judging the private lives of millionaire celebrities on YouTube and trying to justify it with your religion.
In answer to your "right judgement" question: John 7:24
@josephscott80 The main point about the account in Matthew 8:7-11 is this - “Go now and leave your life of sin.” That means Jesus does not want us to sin anymore. I have no religion, Joe, I just know the Bible very well. Like Amy-Did you know she made her millions first selling to Christian people and pretending to share their values? Anyone can question anyone, Joe, millionaire or not, just as it is your right to question me. May God with you my brother Joseph.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@bdsamlal Again, you've missed my point. Christianity and the teachings of Christ are not about judging other people, which is what you appear to be using them for.
What does Matthew 8:7 have to do with anything?
Also, questioning and judging aren't the same thing, and while anyone can question anyone else, why are you so obsessed with famous people?
The bottom line is you know more about celebrity gossip than the Bible.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@bdsamlal & @Sween9261 adultery is a sin, I know that. But look up some of these verses: 1 Corinthians 6:13; 1 Corinthians 7:8-9; 1 Corinthians 10:13 (if Amy is guilty like you say, she can get past this); Hebrews 2:18; Hebrews 4:15-16 (God can help us with anything... including adultery)
@genevieve1928 -What if the sin is deliberate and planned and you don't seek repentance? 'For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins' (Hebrews 10:26). Look, I loved Amy, but if she wants to be forgiven she must acknowledge her sin and repent. She was doing Vince all the time when married by Chapman-and now she sayts " I don't want to be pigeon-holed" A vulture is not a pigeon.
@bdsamlal, despite all the evidence to the contrary, many Amy worshipers (including the very ignorant ones) and some Christians (or at least professed Christians, CINOs?) claim that Amy was not having physical relations with Vince while both of them were married to other people. Such worshipers say things like "you weren't there, you don't know." But, what is visible right now for all to see is that she violated (Mark10:12) and continues in disobedience of God's commandment at (1Cor7:10-11).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@ianwr000 she's not in heaven. she's "sleeping" (dead) in the ground; waiting for the return of our savior Jesus Christ. then she'll be raised up at the call of His trumpet and join Him (with the others who have been dead and living) up in heaven to live eternity! thank you for your comforting words though. :*)
God says that if Amy Grant loved Him, she would keep His words (John 14:23-24). But she, like other sexually immoral people here, loves her adultery more than she loves God, and she refuses to repent of it.
That exercise of free will to disobey God has eternal consequences; God says that adulterers have no inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor 6:9).
People who think that they can abuse God's grace, and continue wantonly in sin, have not heeded God's revelation to us (Heb 10:26-27).
Josephscott80
Dear Joseph (nice Christian name), Amy was(?) a Christian singer and claims to believe in a Christian life. Christianity is a way of life and yes there are standards by which all should judge as Jesus himself judged the Pharisees and John the Baptist judged others. Look at it this way-I am not judging "beautiful" Amy-I am applying her own standard and the standards of the Bible to her way of life. Why can you not comprehend what I say? Read John 8 for Jesus' answer. Best wishes.

Amy left a drug addict husband for someone better. And that is nothing for so-called Christians have any foundations to act snooty about. BTW what about that precious book of yours? accounts it sounds like her marriage was not necessarily a marriage made in heaven, and her husband has alot of responsibility that he needs to take for the failure of this. It doesn't sound like he was too much of a peach to live with. Having come from a family that was broken by divorce and understanding all the reasons that went into that divorce - it takes two to make the marriage, but only one to tear it apart. Amy and Vince have to answer to God for what may or may not have gone on.

While the Bible does say thou shalt not commit adultery, there is no evidence that she and her current husband did that. Was there an attraction, yes, but did they do anything about that while they were married - we don't know that. We have only rumors about that. Having said that while this does not justify anything that went on from all

Why can you not hear God's Word? Why do you contradict God's Word (at (Luke 23:43) and (2Cor 5:8))?

@bdsamlal, interesting! I've read the accounts from Janis Gill of the letter she found from Amy Grant in Vince's golf bag. It certainly seems that Amy's answer to Larry King could make Amy a liar subject to (Rev21:8) if her unrepentant, on-going state of adultery (Rom7:3), subject to (Heb10:26-27) were not already enough.
I heard Gary Chapman say that Amy's divorce papers claimed "irreconcilable differences"; Gary said the "irreconcilable" was that he wanted to stay married, and she didn't.

I've given my heart to another man" (CCM Magazine, January 2000, p. 36). It was not until three years later that Gill divorced his wife. I have a problem with hypocrisy amongst those who claim to believe in Christ but don't follow his basic tenets, such as "Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgement", "Love your neighbour as yourself" and generally being about love rather than disdain.
The time you spent writing about your dislike of this singer and inviting comments about Angelina Jolie (which also seems to suggest a worshipping of false idols) could have been spent on helping the needy.
josephscott80 1 year ago
@josephscott80 If Angelina Jolie is a false idol, she is yours alone because I think that she is just a tortured soul in need of a Father who truly loves her. Joseph, that father is God. Where does God say " make a right judgment" in his word? Wouldn't "right" be by his standards alone for he is God? And what does he say on adultery? Amy believes these words too, but does not practice it. The same applies to pastors who commit adultery. You can love someone and still tell them they are wrong.

Where's the Christian love in your reply? You brought up Jolie, not me. Why are you concerned with her? In answer to your "right judgement" question: John 7:24
You should also check John 8:7.

God says that if Amy Grant loved Him, she would keep His words (John 14:23-24). But she, like other sexually immoral people here, loves her adultery more than she loves God, and she refuses to repent of it.
That exercise of free will to disobey God has eternal consequences; God says that adulterers have no inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor 6:9).
People who think that they can abuse God's grace, and continue wantonly in sin, have not heeded God's revelation to us (Heb 10:26-27).
