there are too many original characters, i could understand hydro, but this has gotten way out of hand imo. it would have been cooler if they had just taken more characters from the series and made them 2D like meat, and reiko. great work as far as that goes. hell they could even take some of the concept characters for the series and use them.

Unfortunately I can't figure how to work MKP when I download it off of Rapidshare and I'm curious at to what Mahnectro's special moves are and whatnot;

I'm well aware of that, but these are characters created by the people who made the series. The only reason the palette swaps existed was to save space due to limitations. By MK4, each ninja was given distinctive appearances.
In Mortal Kombat Project, there are no limitations, especially graphical ones, so there should be no excuse for this amount of laziness.
It's a fan made game that has every single MK character and every single version (for example, Scorpion from MK1, Scorpion from MK2, MK3 etc etc) and it also includes every single secret character in a MK game (like Meat from MK4).

a lot of characters from actual mortal kombat are recolors of other characters,
mileena,jade,kitara
Scorpion,sub-zero,reptile,rain,ermac,smoke,noob,chameleon.
kano and the original noob.
cyrax,sektor,smoke.
