In the Quran, this subject(as well as others) are settled. Allah(SWT) said that we are not to eat the swine, however, if we are in a situation of necessity(meat that is halal but not attainable due to finances etc.) Then we can eat it but we ask for forgivness and we don't transgress the limit and Allah will show MERCY on those who are put in that situation.
What I dont understand is if it was not kosher to eat pigs then what were pigs doing in the Bible? The come up in several passages, in one a herd of swine is mentioned... It seems unlikely that pigs were kept only to consume trash, Im sure some people did eat them.

Actually if the pig poorly processes/digests its food then it will be the least likely to absorb toxins. It all passes through too quickly. Animals that digest for a long time will absorb more - the good and the bad. You don't have to justify your religious requirements, don't eat pork if you don't think you should, but don't make up bad 'pseudo-scientific' reasons why you shouldn't.

The pork we eat these days is from pigs who have been meticulous;y cared for in large barns with slotted floors that allow urine and feces to pass through, thus preventing the pigs from wallowing in their waste. The food they eat is carefully dispensed protein pellets derived usually from tofu. Pork these days is almost safe enough to eat as sushi. Not that I would. But it is far cleaner than beef or chicken.

Now I understand some things and I've tried meat from most of the animals in North America and some from Asia and Europe. Actually if the pig poorly processes/digests its food then it will be the least likely to absorb toxins. It all passes through too quickly. Animals that digest for a long time will absorb more - the good and the bad. You don't have to justify your religious requirements, don't eat pork if you don't think you should, but don't make up bad 'pseudo-scientific' reasons why you shouldn't.

The pork we eat these days is from pigs who have been meticulous;y cared for in large barns with slotted floors that allow urine and feces to pass through, thus preventing the pigs from wallowing in their waste. The food they eat is carefully dispensed protein pellets derived usually from tofu. Pork these days is almost safe enough to eat as sushi. Not that I would. But it is far cleaner than beef or chicken.

To settle this whole pork nonsense once and for all, why doesn't someone do an extensive study of the lifespans/overall health of populations from countries where pork is eaten, and ones where it isn't?
To make the results transparent, countries with equivalent healthcare, sanitation levels etc could be compared, like Malaysia (in the cities at least) and the UK.
Though I'm guessing even if evidence showed no appreciable difference, the Torah/Koran still wouldn't get a v.1.2 update..

True but what these fundi-retards do not understand that during the MASSIVE technological advancement since the Industrial Revolution an the subsequent Agricultural revolution in the 1950's, your food is completely un-natural. Oil based fertilizers, pesticides, an now GMO's. 90% of the food at the store is "franken food", it has been altered in so many ways that I would rather chomp on a "yucky pig" any day. Sodium Nitrate in the meat, fluoride in the water, MSG, etc, etc, etc.

@dsullfbc read acts 10:28 he wasn't talking about food he said "...but god hath shewed me(talking about the vision) that i should not call any MAN common or unclean". The same verse says it is unlawful for a jew(under jewish law) to keep company or come unto a one of another nation. hope this clears things up.

@itsadeadmansparty I'll ignore the 'ill-educated' (sic) comment and your grammar. I'm well aware of what omnivore means, do you :)? 'Omni' means all, everything. Humans evolved to eat plant mass AND meat. If we didn't our digestive systems would have a lot of trouble with it!
Just because you're vegetarian doesn't mean you have to try to rationalise your dislike of meat-eaters.
I eat meat because I like the taste & it sustains me. I don't need a reason to rationalise it.

First you say humans are omnivores, then you backtrack and say we're 'fruitivores'. So you're either admitting you were wrong in one instance, or you're confused.
Humans are omnivores, we CAN eat plant matter and meat.
If we weren't 'built' to eat meat then there would be a vast difference in the lifespans of meat-eaters and vegetarians...

The human diet has evolved from opportunism, not morality. If you're a vegetarian, fine, have a happy life. But to claim it unnatural to be an omnivore? Please.

@itsadeadmansparty A cursory glance on google shows that to be only partially correct (13 if driving on private property).
So you're backtracking then and saying we aren't omnivores, okay. Well, you're simply wrong. If we weren't 'built' to digest meat we would have as much trouble with it as most cats do with milk. We are omnivores, plain and simple.
I'm not saying a diet entirely centred on meat is healthy, but to suggest it is unnatural is misleading. Again, morality isn't tied to evolution.

I COULD eat meat raw (and have before), but that would obviously be unwise on a regular basis. Being omnivorous doesn't mean eating EVERY part of an animal BTW, where are you getting that idea from??

1. You mistakenly thought omnivorous meant not eating meat.
2. You first claim 'Ancient Ancestors didnt eat meat', then IMMEDIATELY say 'if they did it was around 1-4% daily intake' (ie omnivores).

@kopperspock my point about ancestors not eating meat is, they eat fruit from trees, but some monkeys are very very smart and saw shiny fish swimming in ponds, and they caught one with there 5 fingers, they tried to eat the fish but it wasnt easy, since the fish isnt cooked and its skin isnt like fruits, but these monkey try everything, they investigate everything in the wild, so some times they eat bugs and insects, even fish, but it is soo rare that it only accounts for 1-4% max
