  • Oh man I'm a fucking idiot. I always thought it was 'Rufus is a TIN man'

  • @Atothenal - hahahaha

  • This is from an Old Grey Whistle Test special around 77-78. I had it taped for years so good to hear again. Cheers.

  • I know I'm taking the song the complete wrong way here, but I find it funny that his dad said he was a "tit man" and he ended up gay!

  • hahahahaha

  • Rumour has it that these days Rufus tends to favour beef over dairy.

  • At the end of the day we are all tit men. That is unless you're a flaming queer.

  • Rufus probably isn't so fond of tits these days...

  • my name is rufus

  • LOL funny how Rufus turned out gay <3

  • Is this song serious?????????

  • @LaMostraESopra if you like. the audience don't seem to think so

  • Rufus and his Loudon do have their differences, expecially in relation to Rufus' sexual orientation. But i think this song is more a representation of a father's love for his child as well as an oberservation of Kate's relationship with Rufus being a maternal one... Kind of in a way Loudon is admiring her being a mother but also like "hey those are my tits get your own! they were all mine before you and your sister came!" The song is actually more lighthearted than anything.

  • Saw Loudon perform this a few years ago. He introduced it by saying that Rufus is more of a "pec man" these days.

  • Good one. Mom and dad are amazing. Sister is a chip off the old block. And Rufus hit a whole new level. Lovethe whole family.

  • has Rufus ever sang this live?

  • Its funny how he was a "tit man" then, yet now he is certainly not a tit man.Sexually speaking i mean of course, gay men are obviously not tit men.

not to trash him im just pointing out the poetic justice

  • Thanks for posting this. I've bee a Loudon Wainwright fan since the early '70s but I haven't bought any of his more recent albums. This makes me want to correct that oversight. He's still "got it."

    Ron

  • Now that's what I call "hilarious in hindsight."

  • Brilliantly goofy, and so very, very human, like so much of LWIII's work. Loudon Wainwright is the Kurt Vonnegut of folk music.

  • @doktorzoom Spot on comment! Kurt Vonnegut indeed!

  • so sorry about your, ma ma,s death......I hope your great music helps ..... it sure does help us fans, thanks.

  • That's rufus in 20 years.

  • he looks like will ferrell.......

    ahuahuahuhauha

  • Very funny...Loudon has a great voice and is very original...

  • nature vs. nurture?

  • This song has nothing to do with being gay or straight. He wrote it when Rufus was a baby about how Rufus liked to breastfeed.

  • smwbrd.....anger management class is in order....this dude loudon is hilarious...dont you know...chill

  • this is such a funny song

  • hahahaha its funny but in someway true! anyway they all are great artist

  • How old was Rufus when this was released ?

  • he was about two

  • I don't think Martha's a "tit" woman...

    what, didn't she breast feed?

  • Poor Rufus has to deal with the fact that millions of people have now heard this......... HAHAHA

  • Rufus is a tit man - he's a stage singer - a regular "Pussy Nag".

  • Actually, only about 43 thousand have heard this version so far

  • its very funny tho =D I love Rufus!

  • who is rufus?

  • Rufus Wainwright lol who else

  • sry i dont kno hu rufus wainright is

  • rufus is his son

  • He's really good, but very different styles. Martha wainwright (his daughter) is also a singer songwriter, with a still different style. All Wainwrights are singer songwriters.

  • I am nursing my first born at the moment and this is hilarious.

  • people are so retarded. it is a cool song...

who cares if rufus is gay... sheesh... he WAS a tit man...

  • its still hilarious on several levels though, you have to admit.

  • Ironic, and also a bit cheap. More like a comedy club song than anything else.

  • how wrong he was...

  • Turns out not..... LOL

  • Doesn't anyone else think it's just SO damn ironic that now Rufus is GAY?

  • What a great song! LOL

  • This has always creeped me out. Kind of cheapens and reduces the beauty of a child breastfeeding to something weird and fucked-up. Apparently Rufus likes it (the song).

  • This is very very old and Rufus is his own man now. check him out, he is great.

    Loudon 4ever!!!

  • is this about his son?

  • yes, a little bit ironic

  • "Ienvy you". Says it all and all need said. He just says it better than we can. Sucking on a breast is nice! There lies the whole of phsycoanalysis! Doesnt make us gay or straight. He is a funny songwiter.

  • lol

  • wtf...

  • Notice the last line "look down on us and flash a Madonna smile." The mother was tending to "look down" on the father, and was deliberately coming between father and son. It's all packed into this little song, superficially humorous. Loudon is an artistic genius. In his other songs too he desperately wants his children to feel his love for them, which he was unable to express otherwise, because the mother pushed them apart. It's crystal clear in the documentary as well. Fascinating...

  • kinda ironic! lol

  • haha yeah... very ironic!!! funny!!!

  • I LOVE loudon w. songs, 'hard day on the planet'

will make you laugh, 'your mother and i' will make you cry, tons of great songs!

  • Apparently, the song is not only a sweet( strange to some) expression of his "jealousy" towards his infant son breast feeding, but he also took in a bit of breast milk at the same time! Father and son sharing mom's wealth. It isn't meant to be so literal, nor does it reflect the sexual orientation of Rufus in adulthood. Get it? Got it? Good!

  • FINALLY someone who pays attention.

  • This was written when Rufus was a baby, quite obviously, it's about the father being jealous of baby. Rufus describes it as it a 'beautiful vision'

  • Most of you dont realise that he's joking.

  • what the fcuk.

  • Rufus should do a follow-up and title it "Still a Tit Man."

  • except he's not a tit man anymore

  • Rufus Wrainwright is Gay, dude.

^_^ Which is what makes the song ironic.
