  • I love Irish music! :D

  • Could you stop talking shit about Metallica? This song is from the 18th century. Who says this song is from Metallica is fucking poser, because Metallica's album "Garage inc." just have covers, i came here to listen to the "original" version. And yes, i prefere the Metallica's version, but who cares?

  • this sure beat that heavy medal version

  • WTF oO this is great i love it

  • Good-humored Irish ! Despite more than 700 years of harsh and sometimes brutal English occupation and the Great Potato Famine , the Irish people cheered themselves up in such a way that even a less-than-cheerful person like me feel cheered too ! Greetings from Malaysia aye !

  • @NeUromuscular England haven't occupied Ireland for 7000 years. History fail.

  • you are still god, uncle Barney

  • I feel like a heathen when saying this, but, Metallica look bad next to this version, The Dubliners just have that much more power when tackling this song.

  • Wow Very very nice

  • I'VE GOT A JAR OF DIRT, AND GUESS WHAT'S INSIDE IT!

  • @fabianeberle Okay, i'll guess... is it... Whiskey?

  • in the netherlands we say, pils in de pul

  • Ich höre diese wunderschöne Musik der Dubliners immer wieder .. einfach toll und unübertroffen .. ein Stück ist schöner als das andere .. ..

  • cant the people below shutup and enjoy the music

  • כמו יום אביב בהיר סימן שאתה צעיר!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great, but it's the same without two banjos, a flute, two acoustics and of course Luke Kelly on vocals.

  • cheers..even its with a fine islay scotch

  • Norwegian version: Mjød in the Horn :D

  • @nikko97144 Ha ha, so true!! xP

  • @nikko97144 whiskey is not mjød my scandinavian brother ;)

  • @snailawayfan I feel I need to point out, that he most likely thinks of mjød as the stereotypical alcohol of Norway, as whiskey is for Ireland. :)

  • @ElsketAvHan oww yeah I see, I read it a bit, thank you for pointing it out :)

  • @snailawayfan I know :)

  • Slàinte

  • cant wait to the 18th april when they come to copenhagen :D

  • That's like speed country.

  • Not bad, not bad. But the Metallica version rocks...

  • Irish music is totally addicting.... the more I listen to it, the more I want to listen to it =P

  • @Evija3000 It's music it won't hurt you. Unless you think having an irish mindset is hurtful. Enjoy.

  • A true irishemens Poison ! .... need a refeill !...

  • or my first

  • I love Irland this is my second country in my heart

  • best version by far.Feel a bit irish when i hear this and i am dutch.

  • wait, maybe you're gonna hate me for this comment, but did Metallica make a heavy cover of this song, or did The Dubliners make it an even more awesome sounding song? I guess the first one! But still, it sounds awesome both ways!

  • @lolsokje It's the other way around

  • @lolsokje It was Metallica who made a cover. Thin Lizzy also made one too.

  • @lolsokje This song dates to the mid 1700s. The Dubliners have been playing for about 50 years. Metallica wasn't even born. 'Nuff said.

  • @KB4QAA Hear, hear!!! ^__^

  • @KB4QAA

why does it matter when who was born? in my opinion the metallica version is much better, and i dont even like the band.

but i give them respect, cause when metallica came out they made something different with music, with them style of riffs they did. the dubliners arent that much original, but this is an okay cover if you dont know the lack of music.

  • @IdRatherbeDeaddd It matters only for factual purposes. It was a light hearted ending to a factual reply to an honest question. While I'm no Metallica fan, I do enjoy their version of this traditional song.

  • @KB4QAA... You're right, the Dubliners have been playing it for about 50 years, but it goes way back before that. I would say it goes back to the days of the highwaymen. The narrator would appear to be a highwayman and he mentions rapier and pistol, weapons that were popular in the 17th century.

  • When you hear this don't you miss Rap? Not!

  • but do the danes make booze or drink every one elses??

  • Ах, эти ирландцы - великолепно!

  • I love them <3

  • god song

  • "The jar is ever empty cus once I took an arrow to my knee"

  • What is the little mistake by Sean?

  • @Farvai0 he mixes up the verses, see 3 posts down

  • I love this shit

  • I'm sure when he wakes up, he'll apologise! (Fantasist!)

  • fantastik!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 10 012 misktakes were made.

  • Very good (; I love his voice xD

  • What's the 'little mistake'?

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz At 0:22, he sings "I first produced me pistol, for me rapier she had stolen, but I couldn't shoot the water, so a prisoner I was taken". That verse doesn't come in until 1:12. The line at 0:22 is supposed to be "I first produced me pistol, and I then produced me rapier, saying "Stand and deliver, for ye are a bold deceiver", or some variation of that.

  • muy bueno

  • @CrazyiLMB lemme guess, you're a metalhead who denies every other kind of music cause they are not TRVE?

  • @CrazyiLMB It is refered to as music and is a form of art whose medium is sound and silence. Common elements are pitch, rhuthm, dynamics and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from the greek word "mousike" which means art of the muses.
