50% our diet should be Healthy Fats? Really? I've never heard of that...I understand how important they are, but 50%? What percentage Carbs and Protein?
@jarden69 I thought that was a weird number too. I the U.S govt says 15% Protein, 60% Carbs and 25% fats. But some bodybuilders usually say 40% protein 40% Carbs and 20% fat. I think a safe bet would be keeping fats between 20%-30% I think anything less than 10% fat is gonna just get you sick in the long run.I know too much protein can fuck up your kidneys too. I go with 30% protein 50% complex carbs and 20% fat. But I run so I eat more carbs. so much info makes it confusing.
cont.. Whatever they say about saturated fat, I still believe that eating too much animal fats and protein will result in less than optimal health. I know too many people who eat that way (with minimal unprocessed sugar intake) and they all have CVD/diabesity symptoms.
I have no problem with the idea that we should get a high proportion of our calories from fat but I just don't see how this equates to needing to eat meat & dairy. I take krill oil as an insurance policy but get 99% all my fats from avocado, coconut, olive and an assortment of seeds.
Several years ago I lost about 100 lbs in about a year from eating mainly raisin bran cereal (Total brand) and skim milk. I was healthy and had energy, no diabetes nor blood pressure
Not sure how that happened, but it did work. Then I started eating take-out foods often. So now I gained all my weight back which I lost. =(
oprah's a dumb fat cow. i'd weigh 600 pounds too if i were filthy freaking rich, what's the great mystery? she just doesn't know when to tone down the media frenzy. you are right though, healthy eating is all about variety and not acting like a baby when it comes to trying new foods and learning to cook properly.
I saw another Oprah show about obese teens from obese families - cause and "fat" affect from underlying emotional issues. Although I feel for these teens, I couldn't help but think of the science, theory, and plan of Shane's FX with the power to transform their bodies and lives like it has mine. A lot of these people turn to "experts" like those on Oprah's shows and end up down yet another vicious sugary cycle of commercial solutions. Shane you're awesome.
Great Video! You are completely right about fats in the diet. Another sugar substitute is Xylitol. I don't use it myself (I use stevia) but I heard it is just as good.
Good info... tks for sharin. You are 1 of 5 people or groups that I follow when it comes to nutrition. Paul Chek, Sean Croxton of UndergroundWellness, Mercola, and Origins of balance. You work with any of them?
Great vid! Thank you :). I actually drink a green vitamin powder that has Stevia exctract (for sweetening purposes) in it, and I was wondering whether this alternative is healthy, as I have heard not-so-beneficial things about sweeteners like Splenda. Thanks for the info.!! :)
loved this vid! I have followed this advice with success
