  • ...slavery issue to get the war started and tried to take the moral high ground. over taxation of the south was the main issue back then. slavery was the backburner issue. just about every major country in the world got rid of slavery without having civil war. it really wasnt the main issue for going to war. uneven taxation of the south was.

  • the revenues that the federal govt was taking in was about 80% from the south. lincoln was strictly abiding by the laws of runaway slaves and deporting them back to the southern states. southern states were upset about the uneven taxation and started seceding, they were prepared to become a sovereign nation and make trade deals with england and france for the goods they usually got from the north. owners of the northern controlled ports were in collusion with govt back then and they used the..

  • ron paul made everyone there, including jesse ventura, blush a bit at their own ignorance of the subject.

  • I was pleasantly surprised at the way this discussion went. Although there were differing opinions, everyone got in their part of the discussion and no one was left out. It was also nice to see many of them agreeing with Ron Paul about most of the issues and not just ignoring him. This is the kind of forum in which political opinions and discussions are the most effective.

  • i don't think jesse was expecting that kind of answer from ron paul

  • ron paul is synonimous with the word "truth". wow. He gets my vote in 2012.

  • JESSY FOR PRESIDENT 2012

  • You don't need to clone Ron Paul, just read a book don't watch so much t.v. We don't need leaders to take us out of this crisis but a better educated more aware population.

  • Is that Jesse Ventura or Benjamin Franklin?

  • DO SOMETHING THEN!spread organic heirloom food seed far and wide, its called"johnny appleseed economics"or"gorrila gardens",spread more organic food. wake up everyone,do your part!?IF YOU ARE angry, get seed and make a organic revolution your way.SPREAD THE HEIRLOOM SEED EVERYWHERE TELL OTHERS! INCREASE THE FOOD SUPPLY RIGHT NOW WHILE WE GOT TIME!! GROW VERTICAL GARDENS IF YOU DONT HAVE THE SPACE! START NOW!

A PEOPLE IS ONLY AS STRONG AS ITS STOMACH!

tell 10 OTHER PEOPLE RIGHT NOW

  • slavery was the only part about the civil war? she is kidding right? No one can be that stupid.

  • Andrea and Paul make the most sense.

  • Benjamin Fulford.

  • the civil war wasn't about the slaves that came afterwards. It was about South Carolina seceding from the Union because of the tariff being imposed on them by the government on the states. The south broke away and formed there own country the Confederate States of America and the north attacked them to preserve the union of states. Thats why south Carolina's capital building still flew the rebel flag because they were forced back into the union but not willingly.

  • Blago is kissing ass to avoid jail

  • "the only part"????

For FUCKS sake that Miller-bitch is undereducated it hurts. She could easily rival Palin thats for sure

  • @Vorlos no kidding! how could a national talk-show host not know the history of the civil war? Unreal.

  • I am the water to the Republican snake oil but Ron Paul is someone I've always respected as a politician in general for being honest, genuine, never tries to spin, or appease interest groups. We need more hims.

  • Andrea Tantaros sort of looks like Hanna Montana/Moly Cyrus, except hotter.

  • One thing you can count on from Larry King Live and Jesse Ventura: the mindless unphilosophical two-sides-of-the-same-coin political hacks were prettier than normal!

But seriously, if Jesse Ventura wants on the ballot as a Libertarian or Independent, he should call me. 907-250-5503.

  • Yup, what we think we may know may not be so. Do you ever get the feeeling that everything we are told is a lie?

  • It was all the Civil War was about? Stupid bitch.

  • the bitch in the green loves the camera. Ron Paul needs a rap album to reach our youth, hopefully coolio would be a part of that.

  • Jesse did a great job.

I didn't like Ron Paul being lumped in with that group, but he shined through as always.

  • The revolution is here...

    AE911TRUTH. ORG

  • Wooow. Ron Paul plus 3 retards. Not one of them has a clue why the Civil War was fought. Lincoln didn't want to free the slaves, he wanted nothing to do with that issue. He wrote as much.

  • @svenp Heh, yeaa, Lincoln wanted to stay far away from specific slave issues directly with the 'Slave-Legal' States. Just the newer States to be admitted. He essentially used the Emancipation Proclamation as a final political weapon after the game of the War and 'up-onemanship' got too high and hot.

  • @at1212b One of Lincolns quotes was, "If I could save the Union without freeing any slaves, I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it, and if I could do it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also so that"

  • @svenp

The other main issue was States Rights, which just so happened to deal with Slavery (a huge symbol like the Tax on Tea by Great Britain) and what the Southern States, given the rules set in place when they joined the 'United States' believed was their Right to control.

  • The bitch just showed her true stupidity when she yelled that civil war was EVERYTHING about slavery. Slavery was only part of the war AFTER the war started (more of an excuse to why the war started really).

  • u.s needs more ppl like Ron paul and Jesse Ventura to lead and be on power ,not the zionist aipac lobby !

  • I agree with stasisbal. Are they stupid? I thought they went to school. Everyone of my history teachers have said that States' Rights was probably the hugest reason they seceded, not slavery. Although it did become an issue, especially with the Emancipation Proclamation. But seriously, how can Stephanie say that it was the ONLY issue. Hahaha! Look at the people who are leading our country and don't even know our history. My College prof would be furious.

  • thanks again.

i'd hate to be ventura's wife when they're in bed!!!

libertarianism is the way to go.

  • lol Ventura cut off Blogo

Ron Paul 2012 Classical liberal for President (Libertarian) or Tolerant Conservative words matter

  • i don't like how they back and forth-ed with Tiger Woods, Sarah Palin and Celeb Apprentice. Who cares? What's that got to do with anything?

  • @msquestionmark

welll sarah palin is a politician like her or dislike her.I think shes just another neo-con.

  • @shocktreatmenthead

yea well you get no info watching these programs on CNN or FOX or whatever mainstream media there is. it's so schizophrenic going from one unrelated topic to another. i'd rather listen to lectures/podcasts etc on youtube where you get in-depth info.

mainstream media is all about biased opinions. though i like jesse and ron paul, only reason i'm watching this.

  • @msquestionmark Same or me, I had never heard of Jesse, but being from Texas I've learned quite a bit about Ron. I like him a lot.

  • It does matter not what these people run on. As soon as they get in they are debriefed and do what there told.

  • Just like to let everyone know, just a year and a half ago.

    watch?v=sRx-trdMGtY

Msnbc was calling Ron Paul a crack pot or basically disrespecting him for speaking out the truth about the Civil War; and when he offered the evidence it they dodged him. All they wanted was the political correctness of the public high school textbook with him taking back his statement and now they are kissing his ass. Media sucks.

  • Paul/Ventura 2012?! MAKE IT HAPPEN

dude. how AWESOME would that be?!

  • @ronniepage Thats REAL Change they got my vote

  • The Civil War had everything to do with economics and trade. Slavery later became an issue so that the North could justify its agression on the South since the issue of trade rested on the side of the South. Slavery would have eventually been erradicated, and it would have been done without any or little blood shed.

  • @nomoreserfs Thank you, someone who can read. Grant owned slaves, Robert E. Lee didn't. But the North was going to fight for their freedom? Also, you can read old Lincoln speeches at the library that openly say that Lincoln didn't like n-words. Sounds like he'd fight to end slavery, right? He also talked bad about Mexico because it didn't have many white people. Part of the reason slavery became an issue, is because they were losing support. I would like to continue but I have no room.

  • @nomoreserfs We'll have none of that revisionist history! Read the State sponsored textbook and be a good little drone. Truth is treason in the empire of lies.

  • @nomoreserfs Absolutely. Technology alone would have made slavery obsolete.

Another central issue was the strong Federal State vs State Rights, more of a general issue that was much larger than slavery.

  • @nomoreserfs so it wuld've turned into a??? prison system???

  • If New England states seceded, then it would have stopped slavery and kept the union together?? Makes no sense.

  • I spent 3-years researching this issue from Source Documents (not text books) and from all the writings (letters ect.) the Civil War about the 10th Amendment limiting the power of the Federal Monopoly. It was about the monster killing it's creators. It was about States Rights and the Rule of Law.

But History books are written by the victors and text books are written by the gov't.

  • @yakyakyak69 Hi I dont want to get into huge fight over the war but I would like to hear your thoughts on the confederate Vice Presidents corner stone speech

  • "the General should never have dragged the negro into the war. It is a war for a great national object and the negro has nothing to do with it."

    Lincoln 1861-9-10

  • Not to mention I don't want Sarah Palin to run for office. I don't want an individual who tends to flip-flop and insecure of their political views. Palin in office can be just as bad as George Bush and Obama. A young, inexperience, but easily controlled puppet.

  • I am liking both Jesse Ventura and Ron Paul. Rod Blagojevich is not that bad as a possible as the conservative talk radio personalities make him out to be. Andrea Tantaros is hot as always, but she has to let go of the Fox News/Sean Hannity puppet strings and go ahead and crash the politics of George W. Bush. Bush might be a good father & good guy in real life. But He was a puppet for the corporations.

  • @anotherdumbmonkey i agree the chicks should have made out but what the fuck makes you think ventura had parkinsons?

  • That was a very engaging conversation. I usually don't watch cable news because of the monotony, but I guess that's why YT is here!

  • that hispanic girl Andrea Tantaros is so hot, Stephanie Miller is hot but stupid, Ventura had a fun job I think

  • @cbat36 u seem to be bias in ur opinion about the girls! they r boh hot and equally stupid!!!!

  • @cbat36 Yeah, I don't know how Miller could say that 70% of Americans were for the public option.

  • @Chaaazz2008 Yeah I'm almost certain its the exact opposite.

  • @Chaaazz2008 yea just some democrat bias which is what Miller is about

  • "The Northern onslaught upon slavery was no more than a piece of specious humbug designed to conceal its desire for economic control of the Southern States...Union means so many millions a year lost to the South; secession means the loss of the same millions to the North. The love of money is the root of this as of many other evils... The quarrel between the North and South is, as it stands, solely a fiscal quarrel." - Charles Dickens

  • Yeah...the civil war was mainly about slavery and the Iraq war was all about WMD. bwaahahahaha

  • Jesse should do this more often

  • Thanks for the lesson, RP.

  • First off, the Civil war was mostly started as a trade war then the south left the union. Lincoln wanted to "save the union" and he brutally killed people in the south to serve his purpose. He was the first president to truly destroy the constitution. Lincoln could care less for slavery, he wanted the abolitionists on his side.

  • @Rustyshackleford08 yep, Paul kinda went soft on that issue...sounds like the rest of them are who needs the history lesson

  • Can we clone Ron Paul? Seriously we more people like him.

  • @legends25

I would rather have more people like Ventura in the government instead.

  • @imaginepeace63 i agree! i would never vote 4 a democrat or republican again

  • @mysticman07 never vote for a democrat or republican again except Ron Paul

  • @cbat36 why would i vote for a man who part of a party whos main and only function is to be obstructionist.

  • @mysticman07 Ventura rebukes you he said in the video "boy I like Ron Paul,"

  • @cbat36 please! ron paul is part of a party that even he says dont do what they say they believe.lwhy would he associate him self with a party that in no way reflect his views

  • @mysticman07 It's more that the party is suppose to reflect most of his views, but they don't. They say they do but then do the opposite. At least he acknowledges it though. I agree with him though when he says both parties are basically the same.

  • @mysticman07

depends on the democrat. I like Alan Grayson. I wish he was my congressman. But the one I have is ok. Mine is Jim McGovern.

  • @imaginepeace63 indivisionally i like kucinich(even though he voted for the health care bill) as a party thopugh i dont think democrats or republicans should be in power

  • @legends25 i prefer jesse ventura cause hes not tied down to any of these cooperate parties

  • @legends25 lol. I am definitely not for the things that Ron is for... BUT I have incredible respect for him. I love hearing him talk/debate. He is very pure to his beliefs - he doesn't dodge issues or spin to make others look bad. He simply is, i think, a wonderful politician who is doing his duty - And this comes from someone who totally disagrees with his views.

I know others who similarly disagree with his position on many things, but I am hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't respect him.

  • @MaBuSt So you dislike personal freedom, smaller government, You like foreign occupation, unjustified wars and runaway spending? Explains the pickle we're in now

  • @TheUnNerved haha! Right on. For the person who claims to "respect" Ron Paul but not agree with any of his views (lol) certainly explains the dumbed down country and mess we are in!

  • @MaBuSt I simple respect you for that. That's awesome and shows character. I think you might be a person I could actually sit and talk with about this stuff without being accused to stupid stuff or being called names, especially since I do agree with him. haha. I'm glad there are people like you.

  • Unfortunately in a country where there´s been massive cut backs to

education, there are probably more people crying out for

    clones of Sarah Palin.

  • @legends25

Look into Paul Ryan from Wisconsin. You might like him

  • The Slavery issue WAS much less significant in the civil war than 4 of the 5 people in this video understand. The Tariff of abominations was the major driving factor, and slavery was not a major issue until Lincoln used the emancipation as a strategic trump card to prevent an alliance between England and the Confederacy. He had no intent (unless he himself was lying about it) in undertaking the conflict for the purpose of freeing the slaves.

  • @Swmorgan77

Yep, I that is definitely what is was..

  • @Swmorgan77

Wrong. The tariff you refer to was settled in the 1830's. There were still some tensions later, but the Civil War was definitely about slavery and expansion. Why don't you listen to Dr. Paul and learn about Lysander Spooner...?

  • @tdizzle Incorrect, here I'll send you video.. The whole issue was Tariffs because the Federal Government's income 90% came from Tariffs. Lincoln was willing to comprise just to get the Tariffs. The South was still willing to pay their debts, not the Tariffs when they were leaving the Union. And if you didn't know everybody was pretty much racist, Lincoln didn't want the slave trade to get to the west because of the blacks migrating there nor more trouble for north industrial corporate economy.

  • @tidizzle here is the video

4 parts you can follow it.

    /watch?v=2im2sYjHbFw

  • The winning side always get the last word. The North wanted everyone to think the war was fought over slavery. RP's right, it was fought over state sovereignty and the right to secede. The South/Confederacy no longer wanted to be part of the US, but Lincoln knew that would hurt tax revenues. The North was living high on the hog because of the South's economy. Freeing the slaves was a nice benefit, but it's not the reason the war was fought.

  • Dr. Paul once again proves himself to be much more well informed and just generally smarter than everyone else on the show. Rod "Blacker-Than-Obama" Blagojevich didn't even seem to get his point that the war was NOT all about slavery.

  • the civil was not faught over slavery...listen to paul

  • "Gets an F in history...." I'd say every guest aside from Ron Paul gets an F in history (as would most Americans who know little about the true details of the Civil War). The amazing thing is Dr. Paul picked one of many concise points to counter the "all about slavery' myth and he explained it very well but the fools didn't even hear it and jumped right back into their programing.

  • @stasisbal right, every other country that has abolished slavery has done it without a war. Lincoln used slavery as an excuse, but it was all about preserving the Union.

  • @umbilicaltapeworm Slavery was not an excuse. the war was about states rights vrs federal control. Slavery was the issue on which the above question was answered. lincoln, like all historical/political figures was not all good or all bad . remember, states were seceding before Lincoln even got to Washington. Lincoln was clear that if setting them all free or none of them would preserve the Union, that is what he would do.

  • I can tell Jesse likes what Dr. Paul is saying. He has smile on his face every time Dr. Paul says something.

  • ... and now it's time for Anderson Cooper, blue blood son of the Vanderbilt dynasty and CIA operative past and present!

  • Jesse and Ron were great as usual. Those chicks were just fighting and I loved how Jesse controlled them. Basically just shut up and look pretty.

But my surprise was Rod. He actually made great points. I really don't know if he is just such a good BSer that he was just saying what Ron and Jesse would like or if he actually believes that stuff.

Anyway, Rod is a criminal and he looked like an idiot on the apprentice, but in this interview he was great. Maybe Jesse should get the credit.

  • If you look back to the 2008 election, you can find Ron Paul's actual stance on the Civil War, and he's ABSOLUTELY right. The main principle of the civil war was the strengthening of the federal government, that is basically it. The U.S. Federal Government was created by a federation of states, all agreeing to join independently. When they tried to exercise the power to leave, we had the Civil War.

  • @Dannyboy8155 The Gettysburg Address and Emancipation Proclamation only occurred after England and France were making noises about coming in on the Confederate side. But once Lincoln made slavery an issue of the war, the governments of neither France nor England could back the Confederacy because their peoples were both "anti-slavery".

    .

    Lincoln didn't give a hoot.

    .

The State Intellectuals who spin the government school history books are the ones who have made Lincoln into some kind of hero.

  • a real show for once

  • I enjoyed this a more than Anderson Cooper (who I generally respect), and a hell of a lot more than Wolf Blitzer (who is a steaming pile of intellectual dung).

This is what debate looks like when they don't stack the deck with who they're interviewing as Fox/MSNBC does.

I wish Jesse could get a show that didn't have conspiracies in the name...who knows, maybe it could save CNN.

  • wasn't the civil war really about a federal government takeover of the states?...if i'm not mistaken before the war states were almost like countries unto themselves and the federal government was a loose connection of the states...i think maybe it was this same banking cartel trying to take over the country...

  • @nathenism Bingo!

  • "the General should never have dragged the negro into the war. It is a war for a great national object and the negro has nothing to do with it."

    Lincoln 1861-9-10

  • One of Dr. Paul's finest hours! Thank you Jessie and CNN!

  • Jesse needs his own show!

  • jesse did an excellent job.

  • A very soft and good interview with no screming and yelling, but most importantly honest answers.

    Thank you CNN!

  • Please. Take another look at what you think you know about the the real cause of the Civil War. Sure...was slavery an issue? Of course, but did it fuel the war? Not one bit. That war was about money and power for the few--like they all are! No Constitutional basis for Lincoln's supposed need to "save the Union". None at all. Listen to what Ron Paul said--he is exactly right.

  • @restoresoundmoney It was about Tariffs. 90% of the Federal Government's income came from Tariffs. Lincoln's reasons for ending slavery was not because of Liberty, he hated blacks and didn't want the slave trades to expand in the west because he didn't want the blacks to migrate there. He even had plans to send them back to Africa; however, he was willing to amend the Constitution to have the South keep the slaves permanently in their States IF they stay with the Union and paid the tariffs.

  • @BIackOp Hi! Well, yeah, sorta. And yes, you're exactly right about Lincoln. I'm not a big fan of Lincoln's, but to his credit he recognized his real enemy. Can't grab the exact quote right now, but Lincoln refers to having the Southern Army in front of him and an army international bankers behind him and he admits that of the two feared the army behind him more...Tariffs, slavery...Lincoln wanted to keep the Union together to deter the bankers...

  • Read "The Creature from Jeykyll Island" or "Descent into Slavery?" by Des Griffin for the real reasons and the real people behind the Civil War. Lincoln assassinated for his defiance of the bankers who wanted him to use their "money at interest" vs. the debt-free "greenbacks".

  • Ventura, Miller, and the other babe wrong on the real reason for the Civil War. Slavery a smoke screen for the international financiers who backed both sides in that murderous rampage.

  • Loved the civl war historical perspective from Paul. That was pretty cool.

  • Great stuff. Nice interviews all round. Thx for the nice editing MOX

  • Jesse was AWESOME, here's hoping they will let him sit in for Larry King more often.

  • Enjoyed the show. Thanks for posting it.

  • Ron Paul with Jesse Ventura 2012?

Just say no to Palin & Cheney.

  • Great show last night. Wouldn't it be great if Jesse took over for Larry? : )

    spin...

  • @radiofriendly It will harder for them to ignore this one. Less youngsters libertarians there.

  • That bitch got pwned by Ron Paul.

  • One of the best interviews in a long time and Jesse needs to take over this show!

  • @33ItHappens You never know, CNN ratings are horrible, & people are demanding to hear the truth!
