  • I had the same problem. The sensor just gets stuck. If that happens just take a small neodymium magnet and wave it over the back of the phone in a figure 8. Unstuck the sensor for me twice.

  • This is a normal behaviour...one would think the sensor keeps the calibration data. Somehow it doesnt. So what you guys need to do is to "wave" the phone around in kind of every direction...random movements do the trick. After this short procedure, the compas works very smoothly and reacts in a normal way.

  • this is easy... just shake the phone a few times in all directions, and it resets my compass every time. you can even do it walking down the street swinging your arm.. just hold the phone one way, swinging your arm, then hold the phone another way and swing it around a few more times.. it recalibrates the sensor every single time!!!

  • Omg guys: Pls read my sollution:

go to Options > sound & view or something > and then ... G sensor ( i dont know exactly, , And than you put ur legend on a table and you presst he button

  • same problem on the htc wildfire >:(

  • U have switched to Inverted Mode !

  • I have the same problem on my Legend! Fuck! it turns up-down ok, but left right - very random. That pisses me off. No Layar, no GoogleSkymap works correctly :(

  • @xelectriquex According to an engineer from HTC, its normal. I was told it got to do with the sensor in the phone. So my guess was, it's another design flaw of Legend beside the button issue.

  • @ongksj Yeah. It is silly to eight-calibrate the phone every time you start a GoogleSky or Layar. Also looks like an iPhone has the same problem too.

  • Just push the menu button and then push the Omega something like that button to turn that off so you can slide it with your finger instead....

  • @Ramlalan9 Thats turning off the compass mode. Thanks!

  • @ongksj Yeah that's what I meant xD

  • try to go to settings, sound and screen, and then go to the buttom, and then calibrate the g-sensor...

    maybe it helps :)

  • @MGApcPro I tried, it didn't work and HTC told me that it's normal.

  • Hi, I commented on your rocking legend vid last week. I had my replacement thru, the buttons are better this time round but not great. My last one had the exact same problem with the compass/accelerometer as yours now has. It worked fine for the first couple of days tho. My new one is ok so far but I have not installed a compass app, which i did last time. Tried a factory reset?

  • @davejones81 Hi dave, the buttons on this set wasn't that good as well, especially the 'search' button. Anyway, the previous set works fine with the compass mode on google mode, and I only need to calibrate my compass once and that's it. For this I have to calibrate whenever I use the compass. I will try to video it later if I am free. Thanks for you feedback, at least I know I am not alone. =)
