  • I just wanted to say that YOU GUYS HAVE AN AWESOME TEACHING STYLE LOVE IT BABY

  • thanks for teaching these kids English. My dad used to sit somewhere in that city some 40 years ago studying. I hope you had fun there.

  • OMG, that city is where my dad came from! Now I get stuck in Connecticut.

  • OMG, that city is where my dad came from! Now I got stuck in Connecticut.

  • Omg it's the best video about china I ever seen on YouTube :)

Basicly I came to Canada on grade 6 and ya English is not that easy to learn just like you guys are learning Chinese in china :) but Ima sure you two will have great time in china :)

Ummm I don't think you will see my comment cuz the video looks like posted long time ago but I just wanna to say WOW:)

  • @kaiXkar2010 Oh, still active here...

  • I'm proud to be an American! Because at least I know I'm free.

  • @fffunfarm I'm editing videos from North Korea right now. When ou see them, you will feel extra free. I think even Chinese people would feel free after those...

  • the highschool looks very clean

  • On the train mostly is the Chinese lowest level people, they are very pitiful, by communist party exploitation and oppression! And I think Hengshui high school is very rich

  • These students are totally different from those bastards in that college!

  • thats definitely good video

  • OMG, Simpsons reference; "I thought you looovvveee mee, llllooooooooovvvvveeeeee me."

  • Thank you very much for that. I've been a student in Hengshui Mid School 97-2000. Though do not know that Mr Yan, but really brought back my memories.

    I am in US BTW

  • Hey monkee, excuse me for a random comment. According to what I remember, actually It's allowed to smoke at the connection points between the coaches of Chinese trains (normally where the toilets and washing basin locating), as long as the coach you located is not air-conditioned and the windows are ok to be opened.

  • hey, this is definitely a great great high school class!!!

  • Oh, yeah! These kids have a lot of drive! The funny thing is they are actually fourth year students which would mean they failed the uni entrance exams, meaning they were slight underachievers... Imagine what the top notch students look like! A very good school indeed!

  • hi, monk, you mentioned that your dorm expense was paid by the university of bjut, just wondering, when you traveling in China, especially for this education reasons, who paid for the tickets? cheers,

  • All the travel in China is paid for by ourselves, but then it all depends on the contracts people sign. Ours covers trans-Pacific flights two times a year, but some top-notch contracts will actually cover domestic travel in China. It all depends on how good your negotiation skills are.

  • School sceene is verry good, looks funny and i wonder that everybody pay attention.

  • You guys are treated with privilege there, and you complain about people who don't meet your standard. Live and let live.

  • China is not in the year of 1984 anymore

Pls,stop fighting. You are right about the disgusting habbits some chinese have, and we dont mind you point it out.anyway "zoo" is not a good word for people.

    cheers

  • Hey Nick, I'm the guy who called the train car a "zoo". The English language has many words that mean more than one thing and zoo is one of them.

Definition one is a zoologial garden or 动物园. Definition two is this:

Informal. a place, activity, or group marked by chaos or unrestrained behavior.

I was using definition 2. Thanks

  • This is the standard reply: "Go back to your own country...". Weak. I have as much right to be in China as anyone. And I have as much right to say what I want as anyone. If you don't like my opinion, then report me to the "Ministry of Truth" and have me deported, you ignorant monkey. Your sort of ignorance is the reason for most of the world's ills. You just close your ears, eyes, and brain. Good contribution.

  • Calmdown and less sensitive to face the facts. As a Chinese myself, I certainly understand how "face" is important to some ppl and how some of fellow country men/women are so sensitive how the West look at us(all these were shaped by the way of living, culture and history stuffs). Nevertheless, facts are facts, no matter good or bad, these are real aspects of our home. I cant see any reason why some ppl are so frustrated of the less pleasant reveals, we should be confident of how we are, right.

  • Well I won't go back because I was invited to be a "Foreign Expert in the Fields of Culture and Education". So in my expert opinion, spitting is a marker of low culture in a civilized society, as is pissing/ejaculating on floors. In an educational capacity, I will tell you that spitting is unhygienic, especially big wads of mucus, as it helps to spread disease. Your government agrees with me, as indicated by the countless anti-spitting campaigns in China.

  • I do agree with you about the disrespectful Chinese that spit everywhere. I feel ashamed of them, but it's mostly men that do it. Eww! But, I still find Americans who are worst, especially African Americans and Hispanics. Anyway, I'm impressed by the Chinese students. It's so much easier to teach there with all those kids than in America with a few students in a class.

  • i taught at that school! those were some of my students! and mr. yan... love him... : )))

  • Wicked!!! That school is honestly one of the best! Very highly motivated and hard working students... My current placement is such a disappointment compared to those kids!

  • hi im 18 and from manwoods school in england, aka hengshui's partner school! ive been there twice now, i did some teaching there this summer for 3 weeks and this vid brought back some amazing memories, especially of mr Yan, thanks so much for posting it!

  • Hey, cheers! Heng Shui is actually quite cool, and the highschool is by far the most amazing school I have ever seen! Great students too!

  • If you are offended by my comment, then I guess you havent been on a Chinese train that is full of smoking and spitting people who KNOW they shouldnt be smoking and spitting because there are signs posted everywhere that this behaviour is unacceptable. Just now I came off a Shanghai-Beijing flight where a man was horking and spitting ON THE AIRLINER. Don't preach to me, don't watch my videos, stick with Britney Spears and Barney if reality is too much. Email me for a Chinese translation.

  • The only reason you are encountering this is because you only paid for cheap seats

  • Sometimes there is no other option...

  • China has 20% of the world's population. That means in China one can find some of the nicest and smartest people in the world, but also some of the nastiest... My videos show what I find, nothing more and nothing less. I make same observations about all places: Canada, USA, India, Russia, Poland... No matter. Call a spade a spade.

  • Hey nlaitstan, I'm the guy who said the train was a f***ing zoo. If you watch the other videos, you'll see that I am there and see the same things that Emil does. If I want to call the train a zoo, as I have been on trains in many different countries, as well as different parts of China, and the one I was on in this video was by far the most insane I have been on, I sure will.

  • It is the only train where I had to ask people on multiple occasions to stop smoking, either because they could not read Chinese, or because they don't care to be respectful towards other travelers, a basic tenet of any civilization. China has indeed achieved many things, and we document those as well (wait for Emil's Shanghai videos). But no country is perfect and if you expect nothing but glowing reviews from Emil, then don't watch his videos.

    cheers

hey, monkeetime and derekjhanna, good job! I really loved your vids! It reminds me lots of stuff back in China. There are things good or bad but I love my home country. I think we still have long way to go to get rid of those bad things in China. Don't mind about those bad things and nasty talks from some short-sighted chinese.

Keep UP the Good Work! :)

  • it's amazing ... i am in hengshui university ,are you still in China?

  • You guys are great teachers. i like what you did in the class. Thanks for your contribution to our country's education.

  • Thanks! It's actually quite good fun teaching in China! It's certainly different, and things are done in a very different fashion, but thats why westerners come here!

  • The hardware/facilities are getting better and better, but the environment...:(.
