  • super voice

  • Absolutely one of the most amazing renditions I have heard. Fantastic technique.

  • Damrau is the Brando of this part, for sure! Very threatening.

  • beyonce disliked this

  • I can just imagine Mozart writing that part as if he were playing her vocal cords like an instrument. Sublime.

  • How can something evil sound so beautifully?!? It's a weird feeling listening to such a heavenly music coming from an evil woman...

  • ah ah ah ah ah ah

    very good

הא הא הא הא הא הא

    טוב מאוד

  • lo.maximooooooooooo

  • Königin oder Hexe?....

  • I just finished commenting another good video (not doing that often)... Now, I'm speechless (commentless ??? ;) )...true astonishment...

  • ESTA ES LA MEJOR INTERPRETACIÓN QUE HE VISTO HASTA EL MOMENTO DE LA FLAUTA MÁGICA !!

  • The part 2:38 to 2:44 is amazing. How does she do that??? Never heard that kind of nuancing in this section before. That's where this Queen of the Night changes from "terrifying" into "seductive". Diana Damrau is truly the best ever in this role!

  • @bontempo01 Oh, that's the only part of this that I DON'T like ... it feels quite odd. I know that she's trying to make this her own, but that kind of shading feels out of place. She spends the rest of her time making this a true rage aria ... why would she try to add anything seductive at that point.

  • @amjones1975 I understand and respect your point of view. However, to me it seems that Damrau tries to make this Queen of the Night a memorable villain. And nobody remembers a villain who is only about rage and anger - memorable "bad guys" always have something the audience can relate to, be it some humanity of sorts or sensuality in the case of a woman. What she does in the last "so bist Du meine Tochter nimmer mehr", as well as in 4:08 to 4:16 is deliberately sensual. (cont.)

  • Best singer, best person for this role. Diana ist simply great!!

  • quale meravigliosa sensazione di potenza, di controllo, di incredibile capacità espressiva, nel canto e nello sguardo.....una Diva, una vera incantevole padrona della scena. Giù il cappello.....

    :-)

  • She's the best person for this role ever. I was so afraid when I saw this the first time! Very secure in the high notes associated with this incredible performance. So furious and angry! I never saw such a great play although she is a bit slower than the orchestra in the beginning, but I guess she just was a bit nervous 'cause later everything's perfect! Of course perfect pronunciation 'cause she's german. She's simply good, actually the best and my absolutely favourite singer! WELL done, Diana!

  • Incomparable. Lo siento por las demas. Increible interpretacion y no menor maquillaje.

  • i don't sing opera, but i'm trying to sing this. and it indeed needs a very very special tecnique to master this

  • BRAVA ! Damrau is magnificent !!!!

  • Simply mind-blowing. This is opera at its very best. The whole "mise en scène" is as good or even better than the actual musical performance. Amazing!!!

  • straordinaria interpretazione recitativa e di canto.

  • unbelievable...

  • I have heard different variations of The Queen Of The Night aria and I seriously reckon this is one of the best ones. The voice is perfect, the emotion, the acting and even the costume is brilliant. I also love the energy she puts into it. You can really feel her anger and hatred.

  • @TheIndustrialClef different variations??? are you kidding me---there is one and only one version of this aria-- the one that mozart wrote you fool

  • @indianabucki I am very aware of that. When I meant variations....I am talking about how the other Opera singers have sung it and the way the piece has been interpreted onto the stage. Think before you offend other people.

  • @TheIndustrialClef I believe the word you should have used was interpretation not variation. A variation implies changes to the basic song. Interpretation means vocal and performance practice... Be sure you use the correct wordage before you blast someone for challenging your post.

  • @indianabucki The person you are slamming is actually confusing the word "versions" with "variations." Yet you somehow think they are confusing it with "interpretations" even after what they said in their response to you. It is obvious they are confusing their word with only one word: "versions." And you called them a fool? Of course they slammed you for your "challenge;" this is a tribute to Damrau, not a sounding board for English lessons and bullying. Go away.

  • IF you like Diana Damrau, you would love Joan Sutherland and Edda Moser Version

  • IMPRESIONANTE VERSIÓN

  • Es una desgracia que en el mundo moderno sean tan populares artistas tan mediocres, o mejor dicho, artistas que les falta mucho para llegar a mediocres, justin bieber, selena gomez y mas

-It is unfortunate that in the modern world are such popular artists as mediocre, or rather, artists who have a long way to get to mediocre, justin bieber, selena gomez and more-

  • Oh my god that was gorgeous. She is a superstar.

  • There were, and are, numerous protrayals of this Queen of Night role, but NONE surpasses Damrau's, and none as good, even in the past, with probably the ONLY exception in Edda Moser, who is as good as Damrau.

  • She absolutely brings this to life and brilliance.

  • Wow this is one of the best versions of this aria and she can act...!!!! That's awesome!!!

  • Mrs. Damrau, will you marry me? :)

  • que belleza!!! no hay nada mas que decir... excelente interpretación!!!

  • Sehr schön hat sie die Stimme eines Engels.

  • I love her singing. German sounds so different spoken and sung. From rough-sounding to poetic perfection. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

  • what is name of Pamina hier? or where can I find another videos from this opera? wanna hear how she sang!

  • What a wonderful perfomance, she's simply perfect, her intention, her look, her starings, and ofc her voice, perfect tuning, beautiful timbre...

  • Damn,...one of the best, and the voice I always turn to for this aria. Truly, and absolutely incredible.

  • YES!! i spend like an HOUR looking for THIS!

    splendid, truly splendid

i am never letting this song OUT of my SIGHT!! <3

  • beyond the description....

    perfect.

  • She is fantastic of course, but this is still one of the lamest roles in the whole opera world.... I mean, what a thankless part to sing. No wonder all the biggest names either refused singing it, or simply hated doing it. Ughhhh....

  • @calaftheeast Interesting u mention that. I have a funny anecdote of the Q of the N of Ms. Sills (of course its going to be funny). Sills said this was the most boring role she sang--but it was also money in the bank for her & she sang it and sang it, then stopped. I'm sure this role has made the down payment for many a coloratura's house. If you can sing it, u are in a supply and demand club--and the supply is very low (few can do those F's). So we can't be too critical--ha,ha

  • @windstorm1000

    Yeah I guess so.

  • I can't stop listening to this ^^

  • YES!

  • She has got that role down to a Science. Her voice is PERFECT for the part and she breaths fire in every word. BRAVO!!!

  • Now that is what i call a singing voice,

i want to see "beyonce or any pop star " trying to sing like that

    Diana Damrau is the best

  • @Airvtz en efecto, jamas podrian igualarse a Diana por mucha intencion que tengan.

    saludos

  • @Airvtz Sure but pop stars don't attempt to sing like that. They have their own valuable place in the world giving some people what they want. Nothing wrong with that.

  • @jd7x7jd Pop singers are most usually just a pretty face. They don't compose their own music, and they rarely know how to perform live because all of their stuff is autotuned and edited. All of that is because a lot of them aren't true performers and have no real education on the matter of music. Hell, a lot of the sounds that are popular today in singers are actually a result of purposeful damage to their vocal chords, which is irreparable. It's not a comparison, 'cause Opera kills pop

  • @Airvtz Not anyone can have such a voice she can be lucke that she is a 2koloratursopran2

  • @Airvtz I personally think it is nonsense to compare.
