@geordienutta1983 all good points. The reason i asked that question.. is ive often wondered how geordies look back at the mid 90s period. You heavily featured in the Premier League.. many great moments, games, players etc.... but there is nothing tangible to take from it. Personally speaking... if Liverpool had lost the penalties in Istanbul against Milan.. that would have took almost everything away from the run we had to get to the final.

every dog has its day. people seem to forget that at the beginning of the 90's man u only had 7 league titles and 7 fa cups, less than villa and much less than the 'mighty' liverpool. now they have the most titles (apart from european/champions league). no way am i saying newcastle will match man u's spell nor do we expect to. nor do we expect to win league/get champions league football. we want a team to be proud of, who commit 110%, every game and play attacking footy. medals come as a bonus

The club had nothing to play for.. we didnt need to spunk 35m on a 10m player...so rather than hold tight for the club's sake and have 50m in the kitty to carefully spend in the summer, Kenny spunked it at the last second of the January window
