It doesn't seem like a good idea to have bark and crickets. They might accidently eat some of the bark while trying to get the crickets and perhaps become inpacted. <8\ Do Tegu's have that problem a lot? Or can you use reptile carpets?

Also in regards to the video and most videos done by expertvillage, the term expert is used veryy loosely because they pretty much know jack shit about most of the animals they tell you about. it is because of people like this that kids go and buy animals that they think they can take care of and then can't and the animal dies, did he once mention that when checked scientists found that 60-70% of a tegus diet was fruit. nope way to go guys another 1*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a large adult male argentene b/w, I'd go with 8x3x2 minimum. For a female, a minimum of 6x3x2

You do not need an 8x3x2. You should have a minimum cage of 6x2x2. Tegus hardly exceed 4 feet so why would you give them a 8x3x2? Dumb dont listin to that guy

look man, if you'd read my comment, you'd realize that I recommended 6x3x2 for females. FEMALES rarely exceed 4 feet, and are relatively docile. However, if you know anything about tegus, males get alot larger, and may feel a little constricted in a 6x3x2. So, if you care about our animals, go with the bigger cage. But i don't know, maybe you don't care. Please don't go around saying people are dumb. I thin kthat's the problem wiht youtube, where people post fast comments without thinking.

Actually I do care and I did read your entire comment. Also do you understand in this veido he is talking about argentene b/w tegus not extrem giants. Male tegus "do not grow over 4 feet" That would be outragous. I do care about these animals but I think you are just giving out false information.

I am sorry about my earlier comment, I suppose I was offended. But know that extreme giants ARE argentine b/w tegus. I was responding to a comment regarding a potential owner of tegus. He used the term "tegus", so I tried to put my best information out to him relative to his query, which was "tegu".Also, this was a recommendation that I personally believed to be adequate for the satisfaction of the tegu, not a minimum housing requirement...

yeah umm just for the record argentines can get up to 5+ feet, although unusual it does happen but they actually average at about 4-4.5 ft and yes a 8x3x2 is a much better suited cage for an adult male argentine, and what do you mean he isn't talking about extreme giants, argentines are the largest of all tegus and how much experience do you really have to be thinking you know all this because anyone who actually had experience would know better than to say such ignorant things as you!!!!!

Are you serious? I do have much experience and I am not ignorant. Argentine are not the bigest of all tegus. The largest are called Extreme Giant tegus also known as Chacoan Giants.

3 years means nothing in regards to reptiles leave the criticizing to the people that have experience that actually speaks for itself,and also considering that i am 18 and have been around reptiles since i was about 2, i know that 3 years is not even close to enough time to consider yourself experienced with a species, specially with one animal. I have worked with golds, reds B&W's of all shapes and sizes for the past like 4-5 years and have not by any means even touched the surface.

Don't feed them live food, don't feed them in a tank. Put their food in a bowl in a new room/tank, and introduce them to the feeding area. This makes them not recgonize you as a source of food, so they don't bite you when you feed them.

I disagree. In none of these tegu related expert village videos is it outlined that Tegus are omnivorous.. and in fact the stomach contents of wild tegus that have been examined show that 60-70% of a tegu's natural diet consists of vegetation. Feed your tegus fruits and veggies.

Know your stuff if you're going to buy a tegu, or if you're going to make an educational video about tegus.
