@lennonine i know i was just joking i know so much about him and the beatles i just like how open and wonderfull his voice is. if thats prime enough for you he's my favorite beatle even over Paul
Damn ancient technology. Your average cell phone today can record better sound than this:( And one of the greatest musical artists of all time, John Lennon, recorded demos like these that sound like they were recorded on an edison wax cylinder. Why, its only been 40 yrs max was technology that bad?
@JohnLennoninmyGuitar The only reason I ask is because someone said that it was from the seventies. One persons word against anothers. The piano style is similiar to 'How Do You Sleep?' and other songs he recorded in the seventies. Does anyone have some proof or any evidence that this is from 1963? I guess it doesn't matter. It's an incredible song.
@JohnLennoninmyGuitar Because the song was written in the early 60's but this is a recording that John Lennon did later during the 70's when he lived in NY, i know it because this appeared in John Lennon lost tapes and because the quality of the sound and the voice of John. The demo of Bad tome me was recorded in the early 60's, compare the both and you will recognize the difference between the sound of the both. Regards.
@JohnLennoninmyGuitar Also i know it because John used to write his songs with the guitar in the early years, and then became to write with the piano later on.
@PhillyDippy5 Ohh that makes sense... But still, it seems unlikely he would record this song in the 70s. And it does sound like early John, if you know what I mean
@PhillyDippy5 Unless ofcourse he wanted to take a stroll down memory lane =P It seems unlikely he would record this song in the late 70s. His other demos (Free as a bird, Real Love/ Life, etc) Is recorded in the late 70s, but its unlikely this one was jammed in there
this is just one of those songs that sends chills down my spine. you can just feel it. what this song is about, the voice, and the music is all just raw emotion. thanx lennon.
This is not a 1963 demo (nor was it ever 'released'). It clearly has all the performance and recording earmarks of one of John's 'Lost Lennon Tapes' of the 70s (way more than it sounds like John's 60s demo for 'Bad To Me, for example). He was likely revisiting it during his househusband years for possible inclusion in the never-completed stage musical project 'The Ballad Of John And Yoko'. Sometimes I think I'm the only Beatlefan who has the facts.
Whoever said sir George Martin is stupid obviously doesn't know a thing about the Beatles, let alone music. He was the 5th Beatle, without him rock music just wouldn't be the same.
Oh by the way this song was a giveaway to the Fourmosts who did record the song in 1963 and made it to the top 20 in the UK.
Makes me tremble. I fail to understand how there can be so much beauty in one man's voice and words, and in the notes he puts down on a piano. I love you, John.
damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so god damn ruled all the current musician now and will never fade even if the world fades!!! john lennon make more music there in heaven so that if our time comes.we`ll be groovin with ur music there!
peace and so much respect here from philippines...
Exactly. The cover versions try and change it into a happy Beatles cliche. They do a good job don't get me wrong, but what makes this version so heartfelt is the sense of sincere melancholy.
Genio John por siempre, esta grabacion no creo que sea del 63 para mi es de la època del DAKOTA, que hermosa canciòn que lastima que no la grabò en estudio.
Yes. A little later he gave it to The Fourmost, and it reached #17 in the UK charts. Billy J. Kramer recorded it too. It was still credited Lennon-McCartney. Remember the deal they had?
