@kryptonitebullet179 First of all, thank you to Ziggy Becket for downloading what should have been an ABC tv hit but due to inept network programming became a short run cult following. Think Big Bang Theory. Now about, Piven vs. Cannavale-->Cannavale was the better eye candy but nowhere as talented or comical an actor as Piven. Piven's confidence/arrogance was what Cupid (demigod) needed to be when dealing with mortals. Cannavale is not a leading man in TV. Love Paula Marshall.

@kryptonitebullet179 Paula Marshall was sooo much better as Claire, but Jeremy Piven was Cupid. Without his mile-a-minute rants and the fervent belief in love that his Cupid had, the show is about 2 people standing around watching two other people hook up. And he and Paula had actual chemistry.

Bobby Cannavale plays a much better Cupid. But i love Jeremy Piven in everything else he plays. =)

love piven but cannavale is much more likeable for the character he's portraying.

I see two major shortcomings in the new series relatively speaking. Cannavale doesn't diplay the range of emotion that Piven gives us - just doesn't seem as conflicted. Nor can he toss off brilliant throwaway lines in passing while making it seem like natural dialogue.

The second is related. Paula Marshall genuinely emits Psyche to Piven's Cupid. Paulson never seems like the volcano of barely hidden passion that we see in the original. Because of that, Trevor doesn't display such longing

As much as I like Piven, I think his portrayal here is so much more abrasive than is necessary. Cannavale's portrayal of Cupid brings a certain air of fun to the role, makes the character much more likeable, I think.

I think I`ve catched some of this one at its time..and its adorable..

But times have changed..and the new Cupid series is amazing..Bobby just brings something "else" to it..

I found this because I saw the remake. I could not understand why everyone was judging so severely a simple light cheery show. But having seen these first few scenes of the original, I will say that while I may continue watch the remake, it is not more than a shadow in comparison.

i think the remake is bounds and leaps a head of this it's more fun and has a sweet simplicity to it.

here is me admitting to error. "shadow in comparison" was an opinion too swiftly made.

i totally agree the new cupid is wonderfully fun and has a definite sweet simplicity to it. they do a wonderful job with the matches. it appeals to the romantic in me and leaves a happy feeling. and as the show has progressed i have become very attached to the central characters. i hope they keep cupid on air!

i think what i liked about this old version was the different dynamic between cupid and the doc.

Thank you SO much for posting this series!!! It was shown in the UK in 2001, but why did they drop it - it is one of the best tv series I've ever seen?!

One word why they(ABC) dropped it! ABC SUCKS!In 1998 when this series premiered, ABC kept bouncing this series around and kept putting it up against established shows, such as ER, Touched by an Angel, and others. It did not stand a chance, unfortunately.This show won an award, I believe, and nominated for others. Every actor fed of each other, and was beautifully written. ABC never gave this show a fighting chance. ABC is known for that. Very few shows have long running life on ABC.Hate ABC!

to be fair, ABC's a little better now. They can be ruthless, yes, and it still pisses me off that they murdered this great show, but they do have lost, and soon scrubs, so they're better for me than NBC or FOX.

I will wait to see if ABC has gotten better with the show,Life on Mars! So far, it has done okay,however,LOM did not come on this week.Yeah,ABC does have Lost, but what else is a BIG show they have compared to other major networks?CBS dominates the airwaves when it comes to crime/mystery and NBC dominates when it comes to comedy/action.Even NBC's My Own Worst Enemy ratings are bad,but NBC still gives the show it's time slot.ABC would have moved it to Saturday Nite at 9,like it did with Cupid.

I agree with you, until you said ABC is bringing it back! That would be the worst thing to happen to this show! ABC is at fault for why this show did not succeed! ABC kept moving the show on different nights of the week and against established, long running shows! I like it's chances on any other network, especially with a huge fan base that is waiting(dying)for this show to come back. I heard Piven will not play Cupid, though, because of Entourage! Wish he could play both! He is irreplacable!
