This production is BRILLIANT. If you can't see this live in ROH don't miss the dvd with amazing performances from Roschmann, Damrau, Keenlyside, Selig, Allen and Hartman and phenomenal conducting from Davis. A MUST
saw it on the 2nd, loved erika miklosa as queen of the night, the three boys were very cute, pamina's got beautiful voice, tamino's quite boring & papageno's not wacky enough though. didn't really like sarastro too much either.. but amazing stage & costume!! truly fantastic experience.

Covent Garden seems to be the one and only european Opera House where the "Regietheater-Trash" does not rule. Congratulations!!!!

It is the final chorus of Act 2. You should also watch the DVD of Kenneth Brannagh's film 'The Magic Flute' - it is wonderful.

I have that film. I used to love it, but compared to many other translated versions (eg. Bergman's), it is not that good.
Anyway, this production is a "must see" and Keenlyside is my fav. Papageno.
