You can run many apps on phone like this due to the programming code in this device are small and compact unlike PC that way bigger and need more memory to perform complex task... most phone apps are not as complex as PC applications. also.. PC uses Hard Disk (mechanical storage) compared to a phone that uses circuitry memory.

ehhhhhh, technically it is safe, because the Cortex A8 is designed to run at 1gHz (it's running 1ghz in the iPad, and there are youtube vids of people with n900's running it at 1ghz with no problem, but the thing is...OC voids your warranty, and with the wrong advice, you're playing with fire :S I'm runnning at 825mhz very cautiously, its an expensive phone...but hey, find the maemo tutorial, do some research (a lot of research) and start off small. It's safe, but that first step's a doozy :P

@proxymurder @proxymurder but i'll tell you what, before you overclock, go to the app repository and download an app called Conky (lets you view the cpu and ram loads etc) and an app called 'cpufreqUI' (this lets you control the cpu speed AFTER you've flashed the overclock kernel...) and follow the instructions on this site here:

@ Faisalm1991 - I've watched a ton of these clips explaining the N900 and it's capabilities. When you get the phone you will feel overwhelm but it's normal. You will get it after a while but get ready to really use your brain. Anything you want to do on the phone you can but you have to take the time to figure it out.
