Incubus in my opinion , has the best qualites of a band for example mike Einziger a guitarist who dosnt need to solo out every song because he comes up with great and amzing riffs. Brandon such a talented singer , sometimes i cant tell the differnce from live or of the cd and i dont have time for the rest but i hope incubus keeps going with music

the guitarist is really an ethereal player. He approaches riffs like they are soundscapes especially during the verses. great power-driven choruses in all their songs, so-cal to the bone and distintly American.

Maynard James Keenan is probably the greatest lyricists i have ever heard of. Incubus is nothing compared to Tool.

His lyrics arn't that abstract. and, he has a tendency to tell you directly his point instead of showing you his point in terms of something else. He tells instead of showing alot when in writing you want to show instead of tell. That way the reader can think and therefore decide for himself what to feel next. His tend to be preachy as a result and i therefore think he is a little bit of a narcissist.

What I was trying to say was the lead singer is not the sole composer of the music. The rest of the band is responsible for the arrangements to. Brandon's just writes the lyrics and writes the music with the rest of the band. His lyrics are good--don't get me wrong. He definitly is educated and understands the basic aspects of poetry as far as nuancing and meter.

I don't know their names but heres the bands: Tool (Maynard James Keenan), Pink Foyd, Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Audioslave, Sarah Mcglaughlin, Rush, Steve Miller Band, Red HOt Chili Peppers, Rolling Stones, REM, Primus, Live, Muse, Mastadon, Isis, Jim Croce, Guess Who, Foo Fighters, Nirvana,Eric Clapton, Doors, Coldplay, and Billy Joel are just the few that I can think of off the top of my head. I'm a creative writing major so I know my shit, jackass.

I couldn't agree more with the first few names you mentioned. The things Maynard wrote back then with APC are, I think, amazing. (I'm a huge fan.) But I don't think the lyrics of great (!) bands like Muse, The Peppers or R.E.M. are as deep and as well-thought out as the things Brandon Boyd writes. And if you're such a creative writing major, then tell me what the hell's wrong with the lyrics of The Warlth, WYWH, Pardon Me, Stellar, Nowhere Fast, ... I'm not offending you, I'm just curious.
