JR is still one of my all time greats. I will ask him in May in Spain at his next workshop if N7 is in standard tuning. I always thought it was drop D.
@fingerstyleguitarman Cheers, DADDAD's a tuning that John Martyn used a lot early on. I've got a tab of Wildest Pig, that's been around for a while but it's in DADGAD. I'm pretty sure that John plays National Seven in standard tuning. John's one of my first guitar heroes - I love his playing.
@harryjohnbrennan No, but I think that's clear from the description. If I didn't mention John Renbourn, then the danger would be that someone would say - sounds like a rip-off of a John Renbourn tune. I dislike it when people do not give credit where credit is due, so .. I'm sorry if you wasted your time coming over to listen in. I don't take music or myself that seriously - this little effort was meant as a musical joke - obviously a flop :o)
Good singing and playing! Back in the 1980s I was involved with the Oxford Acoustic Music Club and we had John Renbourn play there one time to standing room only! What an experience!!! Your playing gives me a deja vu of the event!
I heard the JR version long before Wizz Jones', so I associate the song with JR but I also like the way Wizz Jones plays it - a very different arrangement.
Hi there, it's great to see a cover of this. Heard a great little version of Hallelujah i love her so by Bert Jansch on a live in Glasgow album, would love to hear a cover of this. Once again really great.
Great. I love the old Renbourn tunes. It is always good to see other play them and keeping them alive, and especially when you play them so beautifully.
It's a pity that the Wizz Jones version on YT isn't complete. He also does a very neat version of this song but with a very different arrangement and with his beautifully unique style of playing - very percussive.

Actually i have recently recevd a tab from JR himself for Wildest Pig - it is in DADDAD !! tuning - i kid you not!
I havent tried it yet as it seems a strange tuning to me
Anyway - a really fine version of N7 certainly the best on the Tube

Great cover! 5*s
Have this from JR on Tape, there are many other great songs on it. For example his "Candy Man"...

Thanks very much, Gari. The first 2 albums are certianly excellent - not to mention the others - Sir John Alot is definitely on of my favorites.

Wizz's friend Alan Tunbridge actually wrote the song, although he was never inclined to be a performer. I prefer John's version.
