Just a quick question. Im starting off to record wedding movies. I have a 5d mk2, 7d, 24-70 f2.8, 50mm 1.4, 70-200 lens. Any ideas on how else would be ideal for me to buy?
I have a tripod (crappy one) and decent monopod. Do I need a shoulder rid, or slider?? please help..
Shots need to be planned in advance ? oh no, it's not true ? I'm planning my short film during 6 months ... where filming, with what equipment? With whom? All details. Even the story (of course), etc ... a long working, I'll start the filming in....maybe, one month. When everything will be ready. =P
I enjoyed your video but was puzzled as to why you name it trucking shot and not a TRACKING shot. or why you call it a BOOM and not a JIB, or sled instead of Steadicam.
@kellyakakells Thanks for all the Patricks! We try our best to give useful advice... If you like these videos, you can find more video-making tips and techniques at our website, Videomaker(dot)com.
This video was so amazing, that i'm going to go through many of your videos before i change my major from Engineering to Cinema Studies. I'd like to have some knowledge before i wade in the film industry and you guys will help. =)
THATS AN AWESOME TUTORIAL! im planning on going to a film academy/institute next fall and I wanna learn as much as i can before i start film school, and your channel is helping me a lot! so thanks!
I was wondering why not zoom in or out instead our dollying forward and back?
@candydeca8 Thanks, glad it's been so helpful! Whether you choose to zoom or dolly depends a lot on the quality of shot you want... a zoom is going to end up looking very different on film than a dolly move, and many filmmakers like the visceral feel of a dolly swoop. Good luck in film school!
@Films4You If you're looking for specific tips on technique, the best thing to do is post on the Videomaker Forums at Videomaker(dot)com. Every question posted there is reviewed both by staff experts and by knowledgeable people in the community. Good luck!
@FilmmakersGuide We always try to make helpful videos for a broad range of videographers, so we may see if we can get one better geared for smaller budgets at some point in the future.
Great tips for newbies but you missed one important camera movement for dramatic results. Camera in shoulder is very important to give sense of loss or chaos.
@brunofelix20 That's true! These tips are intended for a videographer just getting started, but if you've had a little more experience, experimenting with more extreme camera movements can add a lot of drama to your videos if done well.
Thank you!
