Hi EnKore,

I contacted MAC via their online chat function and they asked me to contact the closest MAC store to me to find out about the metal pans in the eyeshadow palettes. I persisted in asking corporate policy, saying that each store should not have a different policy. She told me that they would accept the eyeshadow without the metal pan and it would count towards the free lip gloss/eyeshadow/lipstick. Thus, I plan to print this chat and bring it to the store to get my free stuff!

Yup... I chatted with MAC online before i depotted - to be sure. They told me "yes" they accept them without the pan.

I used my flat iron and was diligent to keep them from over heating. as soon as they got a little pliable I took them off the heat and popped the pan out. There was a little warping but the case was still fully functioning.

I've noticed the strictness really depends on the MAC store or counter you go to. I was unable to Back-2-MAC depotted eyeshadows without the pan at one location, but another location accepted them (yes!).

Then a friend was able to get a Hello Kitty lipstick with her Back-2-MAC, but where I went I wasn't able to.

If it doesn't work out at one location, try another! =)

P.S. Does anyone know if NYX empty pans look like MAC ones? I have another 6 MAC pots paired with NYX pans for B2M. =P

I just found out that pro pans are NOT back-to-mac.

I was really bummed because I got my empty pans confiscated when I could've used them to press pigments. :(

They had the original label and magnet, just as I had bought them, just with no eyeshadow inside.

when you did the 'back to mac" did you have the stickers on the back of the eyeshadows you depotted? I depotted a bunch, but I took the stickers off the plastic casing to stick onto the shadow pans. I've never done the 'back to mac' program before so I'm not sure if MAC will require the stickers to be on the containers??

I've been purchasing the refill pans, and I went to bac 2 mac them for a free refill pan, I know you can't bac 2 mac a refill pan for a potted eyeshadow.

But, anyways, when I went in, the mac store artist looked at me like if I was from mars.

She said that that was not the policy.
