Dear Thar is the only desert which have fertile soil whenever there is rainfall there the whole desert turn into green. There was an ancient river called Sarasvati River flow the area but the river dried and the area turned into desert due to main tributary called satluj river changed its direction to toward west into Indus river. The dried channel of ancient river still exist today in Thar.

These 747-200 were acquired in the 70s brand new, and they have been maintained so well, by the highly proficient and hardworking Pakistani Engineer, that these Airplanes are still in Airworthy condition. Many Airlineres in US and EU still fly the 747-200's.

PIA is replacing these with wide body 777-ER and LR.

Stinker check your facts. BTW, your Air Indooya's 747-400, are in worst condition with falling overhead bins (as indians have said themselves) than our 747-200.

@datzburier You are absolutely right.My dad works for PIA Engineering and he used to tell us stories of how Pakistani engineers would overcome a fault where British,French and American engineers couldn't.That's why one of my dad's colleague got the offer from Boing to work for them in USA but those simple people,Ahhhh !!! Boeing 747-200 has fewer seats on the second floor, you can see the window at about 10. And 747-400 is the most modern Boeing 747. It has a slightly bigger second floor, atleast 20 windows, and has Winglets, the tips of the wings have edges at 90 degree perpendiculal angle.

Boeing 747-300 looks similar to 747-400 except it does not have winglets at he tip of the main wings.

While what you say may apply at certain times, but not to an Airliner that is Owned by Gov't of Pakistan. I take high offense to what you said. If do not like to see the Quranic Verses during the flight, then don't use PIA. You have an option to take British Airways, or Air Blue, along with many other airlines if you are flying between UK and Pakistan, or any other destination. But don't force your ideas on others, Most of us feel more safe after the Prayer for the Travel.

PIA is a good airline for the route I take (heathrow, lahore). There are no delays, they never bug me about my luggage being overweight, the staff is nice, the food is ok and take off and landing is very smooth. The only problem i find is that no one cleans the toilets during flight so they can get very dirty.

PIA being a good airline, is not the best. Better airlines have lower prices than PIA and that is the only reason why I am not flying with them this summer. Im going on Emirates.

The Jumbo's intital take off speed looks kind of slow compared to other planes. I am used to the sudden jump in speed that pins me to my seat. Does the 747 provide the same feeling?

I don't know about 747 but I have felt quicker acceleration in newer 2-engine planes. I don't remember the same in older 4-engine planes.

Many of spare parts for Boeing planes are manufactured in Pakistan that's why buying Boeing is senisble business.
